I was banded in October...and i was losing weight steady until January. Then I started feeling less restriction. I went to clinic in february and they only put .3cc in my band. Since then I've hardly lost any weight and I feel I can eat anything I want as fast as I want. I never PB. Nothing ever feels stuck. Im worried. ..have I screwed this up?? I'm finding it hard to eat slowly and small bites when I have no restriction!

Ok, so last wednesday i started getting this side pain, it was so severe that i had to go to the hospital that day, but they didnt do anything for my besides just say it was a muscle sprain and took a chest xray, told me everything was fine and gave me ibuprofen which didnt help at all.The side pain lasted about a week. Then i started getting heartburn or acid reflux and now i have this chest pain in the center of my chest and it feels like food is stuck but theres no food there, its a tight feeling and just hurts. i dont know if this is related to the band or not and i dont know what to do, i dont want to go back to the hospital and waste my time. what do i do ?

At 9 months post I have lost 52 lbs. I am really glad that I hit wonderland, and here the but...... once I got under that 200 mark it seems that weight loss has nearly stopped. I finally saw below 200 right before Chirstmas. The lowest scale number I have seen is 191. The reason I say the lowest is my weight is like a bouncing ball. Even though I weigh at the same time of day each day, there are still major fluctuations. Last Sat, Sun and Mon were all 191 weights. Since then I have bounced with in the 192 and 193 zone and then this morning 194 OMG. Okay, so I know I didn't gain that much over night, so I am not to freaked. I know yesterday that I didn't drink e…

Not really a big drinker so I don't worry about this too much. More or less curious. . . Alcohol and the band? Do they get along? Clearly not carbonation but at what point if any should alcohol be aloud? How much? What kind? It freaks me out to think about even tryin this for some reason?! Am I wrong? Thanks guys.

Cant believe a whole week has gone by. Tomorrow I start my pureed foods. I have lost 9 lbs on my pre op diet and another 4 lbs this week. What surprises me is that these last few days I havent felt any hunger. At first I was hungry every 2 1/2 hours. I just have to learn to slow down when eating. In this busy, busy world it is hard to slow down and take some time for yourself. Would love to hear the experiences of other over 60 new bandsters .

We entertained over the weekend and A LOT of junk food ended up making its way to my kitchen. I snacked on some of it yesterday... and the effects showed up on the scale this morning. So, I went straight downstairs, dumped chips, dips, cookies, peanuts, etc. down the garbage disposal. Some (my dh included if he knew would call this waste, but is it really a waste if the food has absolutely no nutritional value?? I don't think so!!

I had my first fill this past Thursday. I have 4cc's in my 10cc band. I am feeling much different than I did before the fill. I am taking care to chew and eat slowly. I made the mistake of not doing it...will not do that again! Anyway, after each bite I feel like I have to burp a lot! I have to take big breaks in between bites to burp. Is this typical? Am I too tight or eating too fast?

I have not been particularly successful with my lap-band. My most recent venture in to see my PA at the surgeon's office left me with the fact that I have to wear my CPAP to lose weight (and not die!). I have severe obstructive sleep apnea with score of 150 (over 30 is considered severe). Apparently, untreated sleep apnea effects leptin and ghrelin, which in turn effect insulin, satiety, and hunger. My PA says that I need to 1) wear the CPAP every night, 2) wake up at the same time every day with bright light, and 3) eat 20 grams of Protein within an hour of waking up. He says I should see positive changes in my life and weight in about 3-4 weeks of doing these thing…

But Kellogg's has these new Pastry Crisps - in 100 calorie packs - that are more of a cracker-consistency but taste just like Pop Tarts! They come in chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, and blueberry streusel. Highly recommend!

Hello all, I'm 13 months post op and my last adjustment was in December. I've had a really hard time eating and drinking since Monday. I feel fine but everytime I drink it goes down slow and a lot of gurgling. I haven't been able to eat much at all without discomfort and again the gurgling. I have been "stuck" before and it doesn't feel like that. I've tried pineapple juice and hot drinks. Nothing is helping!! I called the nurse and no help at all. Any suggestions PLEASE???

So let's share and see how creative we can be to remain focused and reach our goals. My theory is variety in food keeps you from craving the old life style. Edamame Dumplings serves 2 adapted from the Sprouted Kitchen cookbook INGREDIENTS: filling: 1 cup edamame, shelled, cooked, drained a big handful of basil leaves (about 10 big leaves) 3 scallions, white and green parts, coarsely chopped 1/2 garlic clove, minced 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced 1 teaspoon miso paste 1 teaspoon tahini s…

I went to the dr today for my first visit since op on feb 26. I have only lost 10 lbs since then, which was a little disappointing to me. I told the dr i was watching calories and getting in all my protein. I have been eating about 1500 calories a day and he said no wonder you're not losing! I didn't know that was too much and he said It should be around 800. He said in about a month he will give me a fill. I told him I didn't feel full and feel hungry so he said its normal because i have no restriction now until I get a fill. I know this is going to be hard...how has everyone else fared during this period?

Seems like the more weight I lose the fatter I feel. I believe it is because before the surgery I was in such denial about my obesity and had not really looked in the mirror at myself, especially neck down. So this renewed awareness has made me very self conscious. I know it will get better just a weird thought to process and makes it hard to be happy with my success so far. Oh, and had my second fill yesterday. I've already developed a bad habit of wanting to "test" the fill. See if I can tell a difference or not right away! I think I have some degree of restriction with this one (4 mL in 10 mL band). The doctors office was like, wow, you are doing awesome.... and I sa…

I usually eat salmon, shrimp and lump crab meat for fish. I am not the best fish eater.

  31. The self pay costs for me is $11990..I am financing $6800 through care credit and the remainder I am paying in cash. As you can imagine, I've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into coming up with this much cash..so I call to make my appointment to find out that my Surgeon is charging a "fee" for financing which is almost $1,000! What?!? My "fee" should be the interest I'm paying to Care Credit. Anyone else ran into this? Luckily I have the money and scheduled the surgery (yay!)...but nonetheless I am disappointed!

I lose the weight, weight come back etc...when I started back in '06, my goal was to lose 95 lbs. 7 years later, I need to rid of 60 lbs. My Dr.suggested a sleeve revision because my band is tilted, I've been waiting on approval for months and decided to just do this on my own, but it is very challenging, and I'm not so sure if the sleeve is the route I should take. I have always struggled with not chewing well enough and taking small bites. I still eat to fast and do not chew enough. I will feel the food almost instantly stop at my band, then if I sit up real straight, take as deep breath, and move around a little, I feel it pass through. Does that mean I need a fill? I do have problems getting things down in the mornings. Pills can get stuck sometimes. I do not throw up. I just hurts until a can wiggle enough to get it to pass. One thing Ive noticed in the past few months is I'm darker under my eyes. Ive never had this problem. I don't know if it's because of the weight loss. Or just because my face isn't as full as it use to be. Anyone experience this? Or any advice/ suggestions.
