Today I purchased an Angus Beef Chuck Roast to cook in the crock pot. When I enter this into the search area on MFP, the options offered have such wide variations in nutritional values in regards to protein and calories. How do you decide in situations like this one? I hope my question makes sense. Thank you!

  3. My Friend gave me this recipe and I made them today, they are YUMMY and very low in carbs. I baked them for about 8-10min longer than the recipe suggests (at my friends instruction), and it made the bottoms golden brown so it tastes like it has a crust on it! I also doubled the recipe and am going to freeze them in two's so I can pull them out for a easy Breakfast prior to work. And two of these "muffins" are equivalent to one cup of food! Next time I am going to finely chop up some fat free ham to add a bit more Protein. 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach 3/4 cup liquid egg substitute 3/4 cup low-fat cheese, shredded 1/4 cup green pepper, diced 1/4 cup…

Got my first fill yesterday. Had 4cc's added to my 10cc band. It was super quick, easy and painless. I am on liquids until Saturday. I am not sure I feel any different today or not. I brought a protein shake to work and have been sipping on it all morning. I do feel some twinge of hunger, but nearly as much as I would have before the fill. I hope I get a better idea of how this newly filled band is working once I am back on solid foods.

  5. I am having surgery April 5th. I keep reading that the "pouch" will hold about 2 ounces of food. Then I read that our portions after surgery should be 1 cup of food 3 times per day. How does one cup ( 8 ounces) of food fit into a 2 ounce pouch?

I was just reading on Yahoo about a woman who had WLS, they didn't say which one or I missed it. She wrote a book, Refinery29 by Jen Larsen. She lost 180 lbs. and isn't happy. She is happy she is thin but not happy that she never addressed why she was over weight and depressed. She felt the surgery made her healthier but didn't address the other side. I totally understand. I know I over ate because I made bad food choices like eating a loaf of wonderful bread and a pint of ice cream, but I don't know why or what inner me caused me to do this. How about all of you, do you know why you made these bad food choices? Very interesting subject to be addressed.

Found out today that another one of my WLS friends is getting divorced. This makes 4 out of the 6. What is going on... Is it the result of the WLS or something else. So this friend had the Sleeve done around 2007. She was at 300+ pounds now she's about 160ish. She and her husband have been together since high school. Our sons are best friends. I always looked at them with admiration at the wonderful marriage they had. He seemed to just adore her and she him. The perfect family... are so i thought. Now i'm thinking.... is this a result of the weight loss or is it just a coincidence? What do you all think? Why is there such a high rate of divorce in WLS co…

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone is able to supply me with a weekly meal plan that has really helped them loose weight? I understand that everyone is different, and it's a slow process, but my 21st birthday is coming up in about 2 months and I'm eager to loose as much as I can before then! My specific process has been delayed quite a bit due to having to have my gallbladder out (I only had my first fill two weeks ago, 6 months after I was banded!) So if anyone can help me out i'd be much obliged Thanks so much!

  10. For the last 6 weeks, I've been trying my darndest to lose the last bit of weight I have left. Then the Easter candy came out. Those Cadbury eggs are my biggest downfall. I think over the last couple weeks, I've eaten about a lb of them. I've got to sit down and write letter to Cadbury, explaining myself and my struggles. Maybe then they'll take them off the shelves. Do you think that will work? I didn't think so... Looking forward to the week after Easter (not the day after, when all the Easter candy will be 50% off!) Marci

Has anyone else experienced pain where their port is located??? I am a secretary so I have a sit down job. I try to get up and walk as much as possible but I definitely sit most of the work day. The last two days I have had a big typing job to do so I have been sitting more straight and I must be putting more pressure on more port. I am so much pain it feels almost as bad as when I had the surgery. I am not sure if this is a normal feeling but this pain is even making me feel nauseous. I have 2 hours left in my work day and I am not sure how I will make it through. Am I the only one???

  12. I have been having somewhat persistent pain/discomfort around the lower part of my sternum, between breasts even while eating or drinking I feel the pain/discomfort. While just sitting around, it'll flare up like a spasm and feels like there's a sore in there. When I eat or drink, it feels like my food is rubbing against something irritating it. I may not be giving the best description of it, but it is really starting to alarm me. Does this sound like it is band related or not? Any recommendations?

  15. I know I'm in the honeymoon phase but a few differences I've noticed during my first 3 1/2 weeks as a bypass patient. With my band I was ravenous on day 7 post-op, I'm post-op day 24 and haven't felt hungry once. What I do feel is queasy which I have eventually figured out is my sign I need something to eat...I take 3 or 4 bites and it's gone. I had my period last week and had no issues with food or liquids....when I had a band PMS week was almost strictly fluids cuz I'd be so right nothing else could get through. I've had a hellish cold all week and again eating and drinking fine, with my band I would have been sipping hot tea because nothing else would go down when …

Both my husband and I are banded. Since December, we are on the same schedule with our appointments. When he got his fill in January, he started having trouble with food; getting stuck, PBing, and even some vomiting. Obviously too tight. He talked about getting some fluid taken out, but didn't and decided to tough it out. So we had appointments a couple of weeks ago, and what does he do? Gets another fill!! I wanted to rat on him about his troubles, but I didn't. Now, he really has problems with solid foods. He's eating slider foods and not following the rules. I've reminded him about the consequences of being in the Red Zone and have encouraged him to go get a small u…

Ok so this is only my opinion and experience. I have very chronic dry mouth so I drink a lot of water. I seriously drink at least 40 ounces before I get up in the morning. What I wanted to share is that I notice even if I drink all my water for the day in the morning its not enough. I find that my body required water all throughout the day. You all may already know this but I have just figured it out. So even though I drink in the morning, I still drink more water throughout the day. I have noticed a difference in decrease in my hunger as well and my well being so I just wanted to share.

Do any of you experience this? While I am home on the weekend or vacation, I tend to not be very hungry and eat less. However, when I'm at work, my body acts like its starving to death. Is it because I am burning more energy at work than at home? Just trying to understand.

I understand that the band doesn't work for some people, so I decided to check out some sites for other forms of WLS. Guess what I found out, those of us who have chosen WLS aren't so different from each other. On the other sites I found: people who were loosing weight and were really happy with their decision people who weren't loosing weight and were struggling with the reason people who ignored there Dr's pre and post op instructions and couldn't figure out why that was wrong. people who were on plateaus people who were mad because their W…

Does any else have a problem of your band being too tight first thing in the morning? A lot of times I can't even swallow water! Later on it loosens up, I have to do Protein shakes for Breakfast, have to wait a while before I can drink that, even. Am I doing something wrong? Could it be overheating the day before? Can't say I've never done that, haha. I have no Fluid in my band right now, kinda afraid to get one because of the tightness in the mornings, scared it will close off completely. Been under a lot of stress lately, my 14yr old grandson is living with me now......

Our nutrition instructions usually center around volume and not calories, my NUT was even hesitant to discuss calories with me, but I track them for a reason. I have noticed lately that I am experiencing calorie creep. Before I used to worry about how I was going to get 1200 calories a day in, lately I am trying to figure out how to survive on less than 1600 calories a day. If I didn't track calories I would never have known.

I got my band today from Dr. Ladd Atkins in Tulsa. He is also a plastic surgeon, so he took of around 100 skin tags from my neck while I was out. I'm not nearly as sore as I thought I would be. My incisions don't hurt at all and I can even press on my port without too much pain. I find that I have this strange almost hungry pain that is where my stomach is. I'm assuming that is the band itself. I anticipate being sore for a while and will probably be more sore tomorrow. I was able to go out and do some light shopping tonight though. Is this typical or am I just particularly lucky?

I try to be conscientious about getting at least 10000 steps in a day even if im not consciously exercising. I'm tired of struggling to lose the same 50 pounds. I know that your supposed to eat only liquids and soft food for 24 hours after the fill. I tried to eat some tofu that was soft and it came right back up. I am hoping this is just because I probably should have waited 24 hours to eat it. Has anyone else had any issues like this?

He didn't say what company but one of them is noted as being as much as 70% wrong with their numbers. This stinks!! We as Band people rely on the labels for our intakes.
