Calorie Creep...

Our nutrition instructions usually center around volume and not calories, my NUT was even hesitant to discuss calories with me, but I track them for a reason. I have noticed lately that I am experiencing calorie creep. Before I used to worry about how I was going to get 1200 calories a day in, lately I am trying to figure out how to survive on less than 1600 calories a day. If I didn't track calories I would never have known.

I've gotten better about portions cuz when I can I measure. But I'm still not good knowing calories. Myfitnesspal is truly my pal. I often look things up before eating them.

  • Calorie creep and bite size creep. Both are ongoing problems.

  • smart. i thought i was doing good too. Than after checking I realized my count was super high too. Who knew almonds were so high for so little. LOL

This is exactly why even 14 months after surgery, I still count calories and measure my portions. As you get more and more used to eating with your band, you can also eat more and more, especially if you ignore your body's hunger signals.

I don't have a healthy history with food and the fact I weighed over 400 pounds is proof. I count calories so I don't do the calorie creep without even realizing it.

It is so easy to slip back into old habits: calorie creep, snacking, bigger bites, eating to finish instead of stopping when I am satisfied. The further I go in this journey, the more I am learning that I will always have stay focused to maintain my loss. It's a constant battle for me.
