I'm confused about portion size...help?

I am having surgery April 5th. I keep reading that the "pouch" will hold about 2 ounces of food. Then I read that our portions after surgery should be 1 cup of food 3 times per day. How does one cup ( 8 ounces) of food fit into a 2 ounce pouch?

Thanks! I just read a link that you posted about "restriction" and it made sooo much sense. Measure your portion, eat slow and walk away. :) I was comforted by the article because I am afraid of the "hard stops" ... I like the idea of measuring, eating and walking away much more than eating til I "feel full" and not being successful because the stomach stretches. It was a very informative read! Thank you for sharing it!

You're very welcome! :)

I am now on purée and just emailed my nutritionist the same thing! She said that purée like liquid is a slider so up to a cup should be fine but listen to your body....sometimes a heartier purée 1/2 cup is just fine!! Good Luck :)

When I got banded last Jan 24th..I started with 1/2 a cup and work my way to 1 cup per meal.
