  1. Well, I'm pretty confident that the lifestyle changes I've made (diet, exercise, counseling) will carry over post band. I was fully aware that according to the mfg it's not a "lifetime device" and most likely will need removed or replaced, when I signed consent. Rather than have a removal/replacement surgery every 5-10 years, I'm committed to sticking to my plan of healthier eating and exercise. To suggest that all bansters who have their bands removed are doomed to fail isn't really fair, is it?
  2. Sorry Bayou Girl. I've seen that too. It's a shame that everyone's journey isn't considered valuable. The suspicion, calling ppl trolls, lack of trust out side the inner circle hear is really intimidating. I haven't had complications, but I know that I might. It doesn't scare me, it makes me more prepared just in case. Other medical implants fail, get replaced with newer or different implants or procedures, why is this one not allowed to be vulnerable to failure? That's why mine will come out when it's served it's purpose.
  3. I just read that you revised...what happened?
  4. Jackie, sorry your experience wasn't what you expected. I stay out of the threads where there is neg info given and the poster is called out as a troll...I just don't want any part of that stuff. If I had complications, I wouldn't feel okay posting it on this site. There is def a group of ppl who can't handle the possibility that they could be there someday. Live and let live. I know that the longer I have my band the more I risk complications. Once I reach goal, I'm going to gradually unfill and then prolly have it removed once I maintain for 6 months or so. It's a tool...it's going back in the box once I'm done using it. Better safe than sorry....

No way is surgery the EZ way out!! Hang in there...you can do it!
  6. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! One rule you left out is using a tracking app for food. Log every bite. It also will show you your nutrients and you can track exercise too!
  7. This is on my bucket list. I'm 1/4 Ute and want to see where my ancestors lived.
  8. The unfortunate thing about WLS is that it doesn't fix the root cause of obesity. Overeating to the point of MO is usually driven by emotional or psychological issues. Our bands control the symptom of those issues (over eating), but not the cause. The reason you're still unhappy is that your body is fixed (more or less) but your hurt heart, soul and mind are not. I can relate. I've lost a lot of weight in the past, without getting counseling for my unresolved problems stemming from childhood abuse. I felt vulnerable and gained all the weight back, and more. Please look for a counselor who can help you understand what is troubling you and work through it. Hugs (((())))
  9. I'm sorry but going to a couple of parties and carrying things to help out shouldn't cause your incisions to break open and "leak" at almost 4 weeks out. This sounds like a low grade infection that's been there all along. Taking it easy wouldn't make a difference. There shouldn't be any leaking of anything, normally. Keep an eye on your temp, if it goes up, get medical attention, ok? Best of luck to you!
  10. Personally, I think that all points of view should be tolerated. How did we ever get out of the dark ages without someone standing up and voicing an unpopular opposing view? Many we're burned at the stake, stoned or even beheaded for going against the norm. 521 years ago, we still thought the earth was flat! 70 years ago people died from infections because we didn't have antibiotics! Treating our condition of obesity is one of the fastest evolving fields in medicine today. I'm all ears.
  11. I have days like that too. Almost like I traded one anomaly for another, but I just put one foot in front of the other and remind myself that size 8 is a whole lot better than size 24!
  12. So sorry to hear of your troubles! Hope your doctor can help.
  13. Great post! I wish I'd had this pre op!
  14. Very interesting, thank you.
