Hi, I was just wondering if there are any other folks from the Sacramento area using this site? I am hoping for Lap Band and trying to work through the proper channels so that my insurance might pay for it... if not, then I will consider going to Mexico. Right now, I am with MedClinic and they contract with the Sacramento Bariatric Clinic. Has anyone had surgery there? Thanks, Sassaay

One of my all time favorites is rack of lamb. tonight I finally made it and it was just as great as I remembered. I have not had it for about one year even though I was banded in July. It was very tender and easy to chew and swallow. I have found pork too tough to chew. My husband (doesn't eat meat) loves potatoes cooked with lamb. So I browned some small canned potatoes in the cast iron pan first with seasonings and then browned the lamb and finished it in the oven. It was a great dinner. I need to keep eating different things for dinner or I will get bored and want to eat bad choices.

I have a really big sweet tooth, so I am constantly using Splenda in my teas and even to sweetin up my Crystal Lite ???‹. To my surprise there are actually about 4 calories in a packet of Splenda. The FDA allows for anything under 5 calories to be listed as zero. So, it's absolutely not a "zero calorie sweetener" except by the FDA's definition. Those 4 calories per packet can add up! Taking it one day at a time.

  10. Pre-band, this was always the pattern with me….loose weight, get stressed because life is stressful, gain weight, get depressed, gain more weight. Even with the band, when life is really stressful, I simply cannot live and eat the way I need to in order to loose weight. That’s just a fact. THANKFULLY, with the band, I am not over eating and I’m not regaining weight during this stressful season. I’ve just stopped loosing weight. So, right now, I’m in the end of the not loosing weight phase. In 3 weeks, I go back to the hard work and focus on weight loss. But I’m a little nervous about it. I’m afraid I’ll fail. Would anyone like to give me some gentle encourageme…

So my weight has stabilized for the past few months I've been at 170 which im about 20lbs from my goal weight. But here in the past week the reflux has returned. Its like it comes and goes. I have prescribed nexium and it helps some but not the way I thought it would. And I only reflux at night. Ill wake up out of my sleep vomiting and sometimes it comes out my nose. Went to my band Dr. today I told him that the last week to week and a half I've been feeling a hard part under my incision and its been super sore. I figured I started working out to soon but my doctor said that it could of been Fluid build up around my port?(it's going away now) Has anyone ever heard of that? And has anyone went to go get a fill and your band/port was doing "push back" where it didn't let all of the fluid in that the dr was going to put in? My doc said that was totally normal. -BriannaXOXO

Restriction that is, you just may get it. Got a .3 fill on Wednesday and ate something this evening that I have had absolutely no problem with in the past (chicken thighs). Mistress Band threw a hissy fit and I know know what being stuck and PBing feels like. Back to liquids for a day or two, and a hell of a lot more careful.

Hello everyone, I have a question for the lapband veterans. How did you get over head hunger?? I am struggling a lot with this right now. I am trying to stay on top of my nutrition, tracking what I eat and sticking to the 1 cup max, but I am having a hard time distinguishing between head hunger and real hunger. Sometimes I think I am starving, even right after I have eaten or shortly after, I rarely seem satisfied unless I have eaten past one cup and my stomach hurts. I haven't been able to eat anywhere near what I used to eat, and haven't let myself get stuffed since my surgery. When I think about it, I am pretty sure it is head hunger and food cravings that are …

Hi all, I'm about 7 months post op. I had my first PB today. So not fun. Especially since I was at costco. I recklessly tried a oodon (not sure of spelling) noodle sample and my band rebelled. After 20 min of walking around trying to let it pass, I decided to go into the bathroom and try to get it up. I spent 15 min bent over the toilet trying to get it to come up when I finally just put my finger down my throat and made it happen. I felt SO SO much better. But it was so gross!! Anyway...should I stick to liquids for dinner? I think I remember reading I need to give my esophagus a rest.

Reading through forum posts, I have seen such variance about how many calories people eat a day. Some eat 600, others 1300. I had one doctor recommend 900, and another 1100. Myfitnesspal says eat no less than 1200! Who is a girl to believe? 1) So, how many calories do you aim for a day? Why? 2) Do you watch your carbs in addition to Protein? 3) Do you do a special diet (low-carb, Paleo, Zone, WW)? 4) Do you eat your earned exercise calories? 5) Do you eat at scheduled times of the day or only when hungry?

The veil has been lifted, and I'm starting to realize that being here is no more of a magic wand than just getting a band was. Oh, don't get me wrong; this is exactly where I want to be. It's much better than yellow, and I don't ever want to experience red, so I wouldn't trade this for the world, but that doesn't mean I don't need to exert any effort any more. For me, this is what the GZ means: 1) one cup of food keeps me satisfied for about 4 hours after eating, 2) when I finish 1 cup of food, I am absolutely done. The idea of eating a…

I am considering lap band as an option and I'm looking more at it from a preventative standpoint because I've been steadily gaining weight over the years. My dad has diabetes and heart disease (first heart attack when he was 42) and my BP runs a little high, so I know I need to do something now and not later. I exercise 3-5 times a week. Well, I've finally found some that I like and look forward to eating instead of just eating them because I'm feeling lazy. The Atkins brand meals are REALLY, REALLY good!! They are more expensive than LC and WW, but they are so worth it. The two I've tried have 22 grams and 16 grams of Protein. Just wanted to share a food tip!

I feel like I got to my highest recorded weight of 247 by not being aware and ignoring my weight. I never weighed, didn't go to the doctor often so I never really knew what my weight was. When I stepped on the scales in Jan of 2010 and it said 247 it was like being punched in the gut. Yes, I had just had a miscarriage and was carring a lot of Water weight, but that was not excuse. That was getting way to close to 300 for my taste. I managed to get my weight back down in the 230's that year, and then became complacent again and back up it went. 240's again and …
