Hey so I can't find my last post and I did say my band slipped, my surgery is next Friday and it almost feels like I'm getting the surgery all over again. Anyways, since I am going to be having surgery again, I was thinking that it would be best to start over. Do the pre-op diet then the liquid stage, mushie stage then solids. Then I just hope it goes the right way this time, and be smarter

I am scheduled for my first fill on may 15. My surgeon told me that he does fills by over filling then having you drink Water and then he backs out Fluid until the water goes through--and then he takes out an additional .5cc. He says that this is more successful than the slower multiple visit fills and can get you to the green zone sooner. Does anyone have experience with this type of fill procedure and on average how long did it take you to get an ideal amount in the band?

I am banded since 14-02-2012 and have had my last fill in january under x ray, the DR said this should be the last fill. From time to time my colon irritated plus my port area, and the band became tighter,I also feel a pain (1 out of 10) around the port area and a pain in my abdominal when I swallow food or liquid ( only with irritated colon symptoms appear). I can eat very well and have no problem with food. When I said irritated colon I mean I have a lot of gas and don't go toilet often and hear the gas noise in the colon area. I went to my GP last month when this symptoms appears, as my surgeon lives in another city. The GP said my stomach seems to be soft, he rang …

I cannot find the post where someone reccomended the protein shots but I just wanted to let you know both my doctor and nutritionist told me not to use them. Something about the type of protein and the ability to absorb the protein. I have also seen posts in the past where people were told the same thing. I am just asking that you make sure your doctor is ok with using them.

Hi Everyone, I had my band surgery just over 6 years ago. In the first 3 years I did great. I lost 145 lbs, was eating well and working out regularly. I had cosmetic surgery to remove extra skin and was doing great. Then I had some life issues and I stopped working out and watching what I ate (looking back I think I as depressed - but all that matters is I fell back into old habits). Since then I've had 2 deaths of those close to me and moved 3 times, one to a new state. In the last 3 years I have gained 60 lbs back. Part of that is due to the bad habits, and part because I had my band deflated due to night cough before i moved out of state. I have decided to …

I am so excited, tomorrow morning I will get my first fill! I have been so hungry lately. My doctor reassured me that the reason I'm starving is because I'm healing well. That was a relief! I feel like tomorrow this actually starts and I am so excited. I just wanted to share! Hope everyone is doing great!!

I was banded a yr ago and was unable to eat for a few weeks I thought it was me and I wasn't eating right. Then I was unable to have liquids I became dehydrated so sick I couldn't move. I rushed to the er where my dr does the surgeries. He emptied my band completely I drank water to flush my stomach he said there was a possibility of food being stuck being that I already did that nasty esphogram and it looked normal. He filled my band back up but left me at 6.5cc instead of the 7 5cc I was and I feel great and I'm eating with out it coming back up. Has this happened to anyone else?? I'm a little upset because I've gained 6 pound's in 5 days!!

I am 5 months post op an d have just gotten my third fill. The restriction is crazy! I can't eat but a few bites of anything. Not even an entire banana. My question is: is this a normal fill or am I too tight? I have lost 4 pounds in a week since the fill.

I was banded June 2012 and have only lost 35 lbs. This was accomplished by my will power alone because I'm always hungry. I've tweaked the amount of fill I have over and over but I've never found the so called green zone. I just don't have the will power anymore. I was never good at dieting and that's all this band is. I envy the people on here who can barely finish a cup of food. I feel so sad and I'm such a failure. Worst of all, I'm a self pay so I'm out $16,000. I went to my regular doctor today and got a prescription for Phentermine. Maybe now I'll lose some weight.

I was banded in early November 2012. I have only 2.5cc in my 10cc band. I have lost almost 40 pounds. I have never had full restriction as some speak about on this forum and feel that I am dieting. I have to watch my intake since I have never really had full restriction. To be realistic, I think that ultimately I will have to always watch my intake. If I continue down the path that I am on, I will continue to slowly lose weight. I have my monthly appointment with my surgeon next month. I am going to ask his opinion but wonder if I should get a fill or continue to diet? Thoughts?

3 months ago I had a fill of 1cc and for 2 days i couldnt drink anything or even swallow my own spit. I had to have an emergency unfill of .5 cc's and i thought every thing would be alright. My doctor is a very hard guy to get an appointment with on the fly... But for the past 3 months Ive had the worst heartburn all the time, i dont even think i was getting more than 5 or 600 calories in during the day, and eating was becoming an issue. complete with dizzy spells and no energy. I had an appointment with him again 2 days ago and I had him take out half of the 5 cc's in my band, which puts me at 2.5 cc's now. He was upset with me for even wanting that much taken out at one…

Just want to share my experience in case anyone else has this issue: My last fill was too tight. I struggled to get food down and stuck with it because I was losing nicely after a long plateau. After a couple of months I started having what felt like acid reflux (I've had it in the past). Also started vomiting. I asked the PA at my surgeon's office if I could take Prilosec for the acid reflux and she told me it was impossible for me to have acid reflux. Huh. She said because the band was too tight food was getting held up in my esophagus and irritating the lining, which felt like acid reflux. She took out 2 cc, said give it two weeks for the inflamation to die down and co…

I keep getting mixed signals about bananas. My family says they are the worst fruit for you, but my theory is, a fruit is a fruit. And I like that it makes me feel full for many hours, and I only ate half. Do you eat bananas regularly? My plan is to eat half a banana in the am around 4:45 before working out to hold me over until my real breakfast when I get to work which is Greek yogurt.

So do you? Im struggling to loose weight with not been at proper restriction yet. 9weeks post op! I calorie counted for a while and then stopped when my portions became smaller due to fills. Im back counting calories again, i use an app on my phone. The app tells me i need to eat 1200 or my body will go into starvation mode but ive seen some bandsters eat as little as 800 a day. So what is right??

Hi Everyone! I am almost 5 weeks post-op and I am cleared to move onto to soft foods. I want to be able to go out to eat this weekend for a birthday celebration for myself and my mom. I met with my nutritionst today and she said I could absolutely eat out, to stick to fish or chicken dishes. My questions to all of you is what chain restaurant have you successfully eaten out at, and what menu item did you order and enjoy? Thank you for your input!

my job can be really stressful sometimes (i'm the RN Charge nurse for a 12 bed inpatient surgical floor) so between co-workers, patients and their families, demanding doctors, crazy hours - i can get reeealllly stressed out. i find that during these really stressful moments - i want to eat "jus because". sometimes i drink my calories (soda). it makes me feel better..... only for that moment. How do you guys deal with emotional or stress eating? i usually pack my lunch - salad or lean cuisine, fruit, beef jerky, cheese sticks. so i usually have something decent to choose from - but for some reason, the cafeteria always seems to have something that "sounds better" that what…

Hey I had quite a large lunch on Monday which filled me up and made me feel sore in the tummy. So it's now Thursday lunch and I haven't felt the urge to eat anything and I still feel bloated and full. I haven't vomited or spit up I have burped quite a bit and I haven't eaten anything at all. There was one time when a tiny bit of vomit came up the back of my throat but went back down. I have been drinking Water and a bit if juice with no issues. Do you think it's just taking time to go through or there may be a bit that's too large that can't go through causing issues? I have a doctors appointment next week, but what should I do in the meantime? I was banded in…

I had a fill a week ago. Mostly Eating soft foods and started on solids too. Last night, I ate too fast , I"m sure and I was stuck, it took time but i finally threw up some food. After I threw up, I felt cool air going thru the band. It felt so cool. The full day today I was on liquids only. This evening I tried one small bite of soft fish and I feel stuck again. Not stuck like last night, but stuck. Don't know what I should do. Did my band slip? I really know that I need to eat slowly and chew lots. I know it is a learning curve but at the same time I am nervous if something is gone wrong with the band already. Before or after the fill, I find that the first two bite…

I was banded June 2013. I have around 5cc's in my 10cc band. I lost weight in the first 5 months by pure willpower and strict discipline. In December my mom was really sick and I had to care for her for two months. I got really tight (from stress) and got a couple of unfills because I kept getting stuck. I haven't been able to lose any weight since then. I've gone back for two fills but I can still eat like a truck driver and I'm always hungry. I don't believe I ever reached the green zone because even when I was tight, I was always hungry and could eat as I did preband. I admit, I've never gotten the hang of eating teeny tiny bites and that's probably why I was always g…
