Okay, this might be TMI, but I am going to ask the question. Yesterday I had a difficult time having a BM. After I finally had success, I had some discomfort in my band area. I thought it would disapate with time, but it hasn't. I am still have some discomfort there. I can eat with out getting stuck or having pain. Drinking is fine. I have stayed full for 3.5 hours on Breakfast so far. I do have a call in to the doc, but just wondering has any one else had this experience? I feel like it is most likely muscle strain from the straining, but not sure.

I've had the band since July of 2012, and have had a minimum of fills, which occured during the 1st few months. I've had probably less then 5 stuck episodes during this whole time, and they usually have resolved themselves easily and quickly. Last week I had decided to go for a small fill - my weight loss had slowed down, and frankly, I've always thought I was on the edges of the green zone, but not really "in it." The doctor gave me .25 cc's and I went on my way. Things seemed fine, and I didn't feel any different, but today, after re-heating and eating some Ahi Tuna steak, it got stuck, and I'm in a lot of pain. I've tried to get "rid of it," so to speak, but I hav…

  4. Hey everyone, I need help. I had surgery the 16th of april. I have really bad gas pains I got discharged yesterday. I took Gas X for the gas pains but i'm still having a lot of pain. Also my biggest incision opened up while i was at the hospital they glued it back together but i'm scared that it might open up again from the consent bending and getting up from bed. I'm scared that it might get infected. What should i do? Also Can i drink BOOST for a Protein drink? I've been drinking Isopure but the after taste is nasty. Any suggestions please i would truly appreciate it.

Even though all guacamole is "soft," I find some foods challenging with my band, including tomatoes. I make this very simple guacamole or avocado salad which goes down easily. Sometimes I can eat chips with it. 1 or 2 ripe avocados 1 or 2 limes, to taste 1 tbs of red onion, finely chopped salt to taste optional: 1/4 small fresh jalepeno pepper, finely chopped small hand full of fresh cilantro, finely chopped Do NOT use a food processor for any of these ingredients if you can avoid it. Peel avocados and quarter them. Combine with lime juice, starting with 1/2 a lime and the onions. Sprinkle lightly with salt. Mash with a fork gently so the avocado is sti…

http://reference.medscape.com/medline/abstract/22791463 Since I've spent a bit of time researching this condition, I have come across this interesting study. The problem with achalasia is that the lower esophageal sphincter fails to relax when food is swallowed. The study found that carbonation lowers the pressure in the distal esophagus allowing it to open and allow the food or beverage to enter the stomach. I've already been told to drink Water with meals to help push food through, so I'm going to test this theory and start my meals with a few sips of Perrier. It's 100% natural, the carbonation is very soft. I do drink it from time to time as a "mocktail" with l…

  10. Today makes one month post up. My stomach feels funny, won't stop sneezing, blowing my nose constantly, whenever I need to have a bowel movement my left shoulder hurts and when o sneeze also. My port area is still sore, my skin is burning and I can't close my pants. I'm unable to lay on my stomach or on my side yet. I'm going to see my doctor on the 2 nd but is this what life with the band is? I feel like I made a huge mistake. Won't stop burning and get the hiccups at least every other day. When I feel hungry my shoulder will hurt again, it's like it hurts whenever I have any physiological needs. Any feedback will be good at this point.

Hi everyone.... On my last thread I had asked if anyone tried the 5 Day Pouch Test? Well... I did. It works... I'm back on track now. No more carb cravings and taught me to measure foods again. Even though I was following my doctors plan I must have just been missing that one step. I even lost 2.8 lbs. That alone finally gave me the confidence and push that I need to not give up to keep moving forward!!!! I even tried Zumba for the first time and it felt great!!!! I highly recommend the 5DPT for anyone that is struggling or just needs a reset!!! Big shout out to the author Kaye Bailey..thank you!!!!

Hi friends, j just wanna know if anyone has experienced reflux even after 2 unfills? Last month I had 2 unfills because my band was too tight and it was painfull to eat and drink. The reflux has not gone away, however. I take tums several times a day but I think I may need something stronger like Prevacid or Prilocec. I have a prescription for an upper GI which I am making my appt for soon. My next doctor appt is mid January. Has anyone taken any of the above mentioned medications and done ok till their next dr visit?

  19. Thanking God for finally getting here...to the other side! I started this journey actually back in October 2012. Had to get BCBS approval (that was a chore in itself!), then scheduling with my surgeon (I live in Europe, so this was a challenge), then I get admitted on 2/13, only to be told that evening that there was something wrong with my red blood cells and, because this was elective surgery, I needed to get this cleared up first and then come back. WHATTHEHECK? I was devastated! I left the hospital the next day and went to my GP, who in turn sent me to a hematologist Through a series of blood tests it seems that I have an inherited blood disease from one of my pa…

I am new to site. I am very nervous because I got my lapband back in 2008 and in 2010 I had to move away from my surgeon. I had lost my medical insurance and could not afford to see another lapband specialist. I have insurance now and have an appointment for Thursday. I am so nervous none of the side effects were explained to me when I had the surgery. I was only told it was very non-invasive. Now I find all of these dangers and I am so scared. I do vomit occasionally. Maybe twice a week and don't have much restriction but have not had a fill since moved.

So far I am losing at least two pounds a week, mostly due to going to the health club every day for cardio, and by following a 1000 calorie diet with good Protein intake (over 60 grams.) I've had three fills, but except for the first few days after the last fill I don't feel any restriction. I can eat a whole banana, etc. without getting stuck. But... I do feel feel after a eating a meal, and so far I've haven't had serious late night carb munchies. Should I go for a fourth, small fill to control portions, and go to four meals a day from three, or should I wait and see how far I can go with my current status? I'm interested in hearing some stories from people that have had to be unfilled and then refilled again, and the difference in getting to the green zone the second time around. I was completely unfilled in October and had surgery to re-stitch my band in November. I am at four cc's right now and can eat anything without any problems, I can eat fast without any problems, and I don't even have to chew well! I wouldn't even feel like I've had weight loss surgery except for the fact that I can't eat as much, but I feel that's only because of the plication, not the band. The first time around at 4 cc's I had to be careful of what I ate, eat slowly, and chew well or I'd ge…

I was recently diagnosed with Addison's disease. I truly had not changed my diet or exercise routine in 6 years and I just started to gain weight. I was banded in 2005 and thought the weight gain was because I was getting older. I was being treated for hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia for a long time. After several different tests and hospital admissions they found that I had Addison's. I saw my LB surgeon because I was not sure how to adjust my diet. My bariatric doctor tells me to follow my endocrinologist's suggestions for my diet and then the endocrinologist's tells me to follow my bariatric doctor's suggestions. UGH!!! I was wondering if anyone else has a LB an…

I just had a flash back ( I totally blocked this out for years) of one of my most embarrassing moments being fat. I hope it motivates someone and I hope others share theirs. It makes me grateful for the band even though I'm moving at snails pace right now: 12 yrs ago I was a labor union rep. I had to represent a worker who was unfairly disciplined. I saw that the chair with arms that I had to sit in looked small but I was too embarrassed to ask for a different seat so I slowly and firmly pushed my bottom into it. Being the great rep that I was , I argued my clients case with professionalism assertiveness and a bit of a threatening tone as they were condescending and dis…

I was banded in Summer 2007. I've had all kinds of difficulties with restriction, life issues (dad passed away, mom cancer, moved, 5 kids, etc), and it seemed like no matter what I tried I couldn't lose more than 30 lbs and then quickly gain it back. I worked out to the point of constant pain and ate like a bird, only to lose very little. And the minute I had a setback the weight came rushing back. I'm grateful I got the band and I believe it's kept me from gaining a whole bunch more weight but it never worked for me like I saw with so many of my fellow bandsters. Good news, bad news.... Hello everyone! I decided to come check out this section of the forums. I've been waiting quite a while to get through the process and have been on pre-op diet for a long time now. I finally got the news today that I am approved! *happy dance* I have been so nervous at points throughout this entire process, but now I am in the "let's get this done" mode. The biggest challenge for me is going to be the no straws, no drinking with food, and no sodas! I use straws when on the go because I'm quite clumsy. I am sadly addicted to soda as well and have been weaning myself off of diet soda now (not a diet drinker, but regular sodas are definitely already off limit). I can tell …

I heard that they can empty my fills and start new that way but i dont know if it's too late since I stopped following the rules nearly 9 months ago. My doctor no longer uses it - he says it is a lot harder to get the fills to the right point and the port is tough to locate. I am just curious about who else has had the realize band and how it has worked for you.

So I was scheduled for my 2nd fill today, The surgeon put in 2 cc on my band for a total of 7 cc (5cc on 1st fill). Everything looked good on flouro. I was driving home from this appointment and I decided to drink some water. Oh boy!!! it didnt go down. I feel like the water stayed in my throat. Called the surgeon's office to let them know that I may be too tight. Drove back to the clinic and the surgeon took 1 cc and still too tight. He took another .25 cc and I still feel it's too tight but I decided to give it a try tonight. I will call them for another unfill tomorrow if it is still too tight. What a day!!!
