I got banded in 2007 and have gone from 300lbs to 150lbs. I've had some liquid taken out, put back in due to two pregnancies but now I'm back to 150lbs and I'm still losing weight so today I have an appointment to take a little out to stop losing weight. Problem is........ I'm petrified of gaining weight. I don't know if it's a mental thing or what but I'm petrified. I'm almost about to not show up at my appointment. I like being thin, I like being able to fit into things and what if I take out .5 and I gain weight? In my second pregnancy, they took out 1cc for my baby and I gained about 40 or 50 lbs. which is normal I was pregnant but it's still over what a person …

Hey all.. I haven't been on here in awhile, and boy does this site truly help you stay on track. I have totally fallen off the band wagon and I am so disappointed in myself for that. I always said, why do people fall off when they have this amazing tool and totally defeat its purpose? Well, I am one of them and it is hard to get back on track. Don't be afraid of hurting my feelings I am not that sensitive! Ugh... and... I haven't seen my Dr. in 3 months, no longer working so no insurance but my bf says... I'll pay go see them! So I have an appt next week. I am pretty embarrassed to go see her, I haven't lost a pound since the last time I was there. Thank God I haven't gai…

I had my surgery mid-December so four and half months ago and I have never been to a post-op appointment and in turn have not gotten a fill. There are really no excuses why I have not gone but life has taken over with three kids. My question is I have still lost 40lbs and continue to lose. It is still a struggle for me to meet my daily calorie count. I currently do not have any ccs in my band since I needed to have them removed after surgery from dehydration so if I had ccs put in how would I ever eat enough to stay healthy. Am I not understanding how this works?

I've been banded for about 18 months now. I've pretty much have hit the plateau 25 pounds shy if where I want to be. I'm not freaking out or anything because I know this is the time of being banded is getting real. I have 13cc in a 14cc band. With that amount if restriction it is difficult to eat 3 meals a day a d sustain a energy level I desire. So, I've started Juicing. I've been drinking a vegetable/fruit cornucopia twice a day. And, FYI, I believe it is really working. I've lost about 5 pounds in 2 weeks and when buckling my belt, I go to the last hole.

I am wondering if your band is always on ur mind (other than when you eat)? Do you find yourself forgetting it is even there sometimes? I guess i am wondering if you can always feel the device constricting the stomach or if you can go about your day feeling as if nothing foreign is in there. ( obviously for those a couple months out and fully healed).

I've read up on how our ideals of body type and shape of women are so often imposed ideals of a patriarchal society, how those ideals torment women and marginalize people. I've touted those ideas since I was in middle school, however fumbling my efforts were. I had been excluded for being fat and odd since grade school, and developed a dislike for the mainstream early on (starting with the popular girls of course.) I made friends with the freaks, geeks, and goths my whole life, I love them. I love the underdog, the misfit toys, the goonies. The code was always to be who you are and celebrate it. When I discovered I was a lesbian as well, I was already two steps ahead. I…

I was banded on 4/12. I had to follow a no carb diet the week before surgery. I lost 19lbs but I would have hurt somebody's grandma for a ill sugar! I just went for my follow-up appointment yesterday. My Dr. said he wants me on the same diet post-op and to include a chewable vitamin. He said fruits and vegetables are not important to incorporate. He wants me to solely focus on protein. He also said to only eat when I am hungry. If that means once or twice a day that's fine. Where are the nutrients coming from? Fiber? Clearly I am not a nutritionist and wouldn't have ballooned up to 335 if I had all the answers, but I am having a hard time wrapping my brain arou…

Tomorrow is my one month "bandiversary" and today a coworker (who I don't see daily) said "you're face is looking skinny! Are you losing weight?" I said, yes, thanks, I'm trying. And she said you look great! First compliment from someone who didn't know about my lap band. ((((((GRIN)))))))

Well I am in my first week of solid food and tonight I had baked chicken breast and broccoli. I measured a 1/4 cup of chicken and a 1/4 cup of broccoli. My pouch was definitely full by the time my chicken and a couple bites of broccoli were down. I felt the feeling where you know if you try to eat another bite it's just not going down. I was chewing really good but I realized I should have been eating slower. I didn't end up in any "pain" but was uncomfortable for about 10 minutes. It felt like the food was just waiting at the bottom of my esophagus until there was room in the pouch. LOL

So I thought it would be fun to start a topic on the things we will NOT miss after our surgeries! I think we should write one or two, or three things we hate about being "big" "fluffy" etc... I'll start... i won't miss people call me "big guy" i wont miss children staring at me and saying "Daddy he's fat" i wont miss shopping at Casual Male XL and spending $65 on a shirt!!!! How about you...what will you not miss!

So here I am on day one, week three of post op. Dr.'s rules are that now begins the 2 week period of pureed Full liquid Stage. I did fine on the last two weeks of Clear liquids with no hunger and getting most everything in every day. Funny thing is that I have this huge list of things I can have, but due to working midnights and having a really hectic schedule, I am not sure how to eat or when to eat. I have three breaks at work, 2-10 minute and one 30 minute lunch. Tonight I took Cream of chicken Soup (4oz.) I had this at lunch and loved every minute of it....lol. I also had a sugar free pudding at a 10 minute break. But I am not sure if I am doing it right or have enoug…

So I have been doing really great with my band since I had my surgery in November, but the past couple days it felt like I had no restriction and then all of a sudden EVERYTHING has been getting stuck.... Last night the vomiting was so forceful that i have blotches on my face and nearly almost broke blood vessels in my eyes.... I need to know if this is normal or if I should see a doctor?!?! My first and only adjustment was in January so it's not tight!!!

I am starting to see a couple folks say at one point in time they disliked their band. How many of you at some point after your surgery disliked your bands? This is important i think to those who either just got their bands or are planning to. I often wonder if when i get my surgery if i will hate my band at some point. I think it would be helpful to hear if others, at some point, disliked their bands but then came to love them later on. This way if i happen to experience that i can just push through until i love it! Hope that makes sense. I am not even sure it makes sense to me the way i wrote it. . Hope everyone is doing well.

IT DOES NOT MEAN I EAT EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY!!! Went downstairs at my job today and was completely embarrassed. I went previously at 7 am and purchased Breakfast. It was then 8:30am. A coworker asked me to walk with them and i also needed to get some Water. The coworker and I were talking and we ended up at the hotbar waiting for his food. The attendant hands him his food and then looks at me and say, very loudly btw," YOU ARE EATING AGAIN?!" deer caught in headlights look consumed me. I had not asked her for anything. In fact i was picking up my water to walk away with the coworker. I said no and removed myself from the cafe area period. Luckily im not superficiall…

Oh number 1 how i have missed you!!! it felt FABULOUS to see the weight of 199 this morning???ƒ I set 2 goals during my preop stage. 1) see a "1" at the beginning of my weight ...I have not seen this since my thyroid went crazy 11 years ago 2) weigh less than my husband....I have never weighed less than my husband, not even while dating. So goal #1 is now complete & I am 20lbs away from goal #2!!!

I'm new. I was banded April 11. I have not been terribly hungry since I was banded, however, my brain will not shut up. So far I have been able to reason with the head hunger but I'm losing the battle. What do you guys do to fight off the voice that is constantly goading you to eat?

I was diagnosed with post concussion syndrome and was vomitting constantly. Nothing to do with my band. Most of the vomitting was at night. It would take two to three hours after eating for me to start vomitting. I was never hungry. I didn't even want to eat. I forced myself to put in protein. I was drinking the pure protein drinks to make sure I had the proper amount of protein. My husband made me go to my lap band doctor, and she took out half of the amount of fluid in my band. I am still nauseous most days. I am not vomitting all the time. I still have all the same symptoms from the post concussion stuff. They (doctors) are trying different meds to have me stop…

So, I have been trying to get 60-80 grams of protein down per day. I was banded 4/17 and I've been hitting that goal for the past couple of days. I just re-read my doctor's instructions and realized that I have been drinking far too many ounces at each meal (8-12). Now, granted, until today it would literally take me 2 hours to drink that amount each time. I guess my question to veterans is: have I possibly stretched my pouch by drinking this much or should I be okay? It still takes me 30 minutes to drink 8 oz.
