Hi, I have not been on here for awhile but decided to try the app so here I am. I am coughing and spitting up mucus and or saliva at night it's waking me up sometimes the mucus or saliva is sometimes black don't know if that's due to what I drank or ate earlier. Don't think I'm too tight because I can eat just fine and plenty and have cut out eating too close to bedtime which helped a lot I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this or I should b alarmed

I headed back to work today, 11 days after being banded. I am a librarian in a k-8 school, and had the surgery the first week of our 2 week spring break. I was so nervous to go back to work! However, I made it through and I am now a little sore and a lot tired. Just wanted to share with others gearing up to go back to work that it's not as bad as we imagine!

I have my pre-op consultation tomorrow at noon and surgery Thursday at 7:00 am. I am in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in the hotel that belongs to the hospital. We came a day early due to a blizzard warning. I've worked a long time to get this done and I was not going to let some snow stop me. My wife is more worried than I am... LOL but I don't get too worked up about much. I always joked that if the end of the world comes I will be sitting in my lawn chair with a beverage enjoying the show.

I feel like I'm mourning food so I'm eating everything I can. Mental I'm scare after this surgery I won't be able to eat foods that I love. I know it sounds stupid and crazy but it seem like the closer I get to my surgery the more I'm eating. I've gain 15 pounds in a month. My paperwork for approval won't be submitted til June of this year. I don't understand how to stop this mental panic. I was barely qualified for the surgery when I first saw my dr, now I'm almost over qualified. I need to work on this ASAP. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

Usually, but my LB nurse keeps pushing me toward it as a Protein source. I picked up a box of these from costco the other day and fixed them tonight. All I can say is I had a hard time not going back for seconds and my entire family loved them. I ended up baking the entire box so that I could have it for lunch all this week. I had my last fill about a month ago (3cc original plus a 1cc fill) I had good restriction and then it waned a little and now it's weird: somedays I can barely eat and somedays I want to eat and can eat a lot! Does this restriction variation happen to you?

So, Friday night, my stomach started hurting. Not nausea, just a pin in the upper middle. Mostly a nagging pain, nothing I couldn't live with. In fact, it was reminiscent of diverticultitis I had almost 3 yrs ago. I wouldn't do anyting till it got worse. Fast forward to yesterday, it was still there. 3 days later. Hate going to the ER or my Dr unless I'm actually dying. Since it had nothing to do with my band last time, I was sure it had nothing to do with it this time either. Told my husband before bed that if it wasn't magically better by morning, I would go to the dr. At midnight, I woke up in agony. I laid there for 3 hrs, trying to give my husband more time to sleep,…

my doc has a book out "skinny jeans at last" and one point made about eating was to use smaller or different utensils!. i have small kiddos - so having toddler forks, spoons, and plates and bowls are not a problem. i also read about using chopsticks to help slooooow down when you eat. and, IT WORKS. at least it does for me. i bought some online and i eat alot of my food with chopsticks now. from salad, to tuna salad, to meat and veggies!! i'd love to hear what or how you eat to ensure success!! thanks ya'll (i'm from Texas) lol

Old bra 48D new bra 42D! It is interesting. I bought a molded cup bra from Ashley Stewart. The bra has double straps around back for extra support. I have never seen that before and the support makes such a difference. I am used to my bras riding up in the back. Also I found it weird that they do not sell white or nude colors. I bought a black and leopard. They said I should wear black with white tops. I am still looking for a sports bra if anyone have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

So here I sit tonight as scared as I did 5 yeas ago when I first got my band. I don't remember much about when I first got it or how to properly take care of it but I look forward to learning all over again and doing it right this time. The butterflies are in full force as I try to positively imagine my new journey. What will he do? Will he tighten me so I can use it like others? Will I be able to hold strong and fight the "food demons"? So many thoughts... I will make sure to journal my journey (good n bad) as to share with others who might be going thu the same thing. Here is to a new way of living..........

It went really well! Have been sleeping on and off. I lost over 16 lbs on the pre-op diet. Yay! Pain is tolerable. Just an ache between my shoulder blades and it feels like I have done a million sit ups when I try to get up or down. My husband, Mom and kids have been so helpful and supportive! Looking forward to getting on with my life, being smaller and healthier! Cheers to all of you for the inspiration you have provided.

Had my third fill last Friday. Was banded 12/21/12. Down a total of 50 lbs! Yay! 10 ml band, first fill was 2 ml and didn't feel anything. Second fill was another 2 ml and had to watch my bites. Got 1 ml last week and on the verge of being too tight. I know this is what I need and wanted - to actually have good restriction so I can't shovel it in! I think it is almost too tight though. Previously I could take normal drinks but now I am having to watch even my drink sizes - get the chest pressure if too much of anything, even Water. Up until this last fill I could eat fairly normal (not watching bite sizes or chewing 20-30 times). I'd like to see how the weight loss goes …

I had my surgery on March 28th and had my first fill today. From what I've read it's not common to have a fill so soon, but my physician put in 3cc regardless. Apparently I have a seroma, or a fluid-filled sac that formed over my port causing my first fill to be extremely painful! I really hope fills aren't as painful from here on out. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello everyone! I already posted this in Introductions, I think, but I don't want to give up I am in a contest to win a free lap band surgery. I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Sydrome) and as many of you ladies may know, it is extremly hard to lose weight with that. My syndrome also prevents me from having children at this time, I break out alot and I grow hair in strange places lol. Not only that my weight has affected me in my career path as well. I am a musical theatre person and singing and acting are my life. But I am restricted in the roles that I auditon for as well as the roles that I recieve. I desperatly want to change that. I applied for a contest to get a free…

Does anyone eat dark chocolate besides me? I love dark chocolate. Today I went to the Godiva store and bought some. I don't eat a lot or every day but it is one of my-can't give up foods. My dietitian told me I have no off limit foods just use your head when choosing.

I was the lapband poster child, I really was. Banded August 2008 and I had amazing success. I got down to a BMI of 21 at my lowest but my 'stable weight' had me at a BMI of 23. I exercised to lose, and the band helped so much. I ate like a bird, and I felt healthier and happier than I had in years. But towards the end of 2011, I started feeling like my restriction wasn't there. The same restriction I had enjoyed pretty consistently for almost 3 years. So in Jan 2012, I went to see my dr. I definitely had lost Fluid out of my band but to be sure he sent me for a bunch of tests. I did not have a slip, I didn't have an erosion. The band was just leaking. So in March …

I was banded in 2009 and did very well for a long time, lost just over 80 pounds.... and then my band started to rebel. Even though I had been in the green zone for some time, suddenly I was always too tight. After that, we never have been able to get this thing right, so it has been a cycle of fill/unfill. I put a lot of the weight back on. I just had a fill the other day and it is too tight... but it is a two hour drive to get there, so it is very hard to fit it in to a busy work schedule and a super tight budget. Back in the green zone days, I was following all of the rules and doing everything right..... since then, I have had periods of doing well, and there…

I had my first fill last week (4/2) and I'm so excited with the results thus far. I thought I'd share the experience so that others who have no idea what happens in a fill will not be so worried. My doctor had me lay on the table. He looked at my incisions, talked to me for a minute about what he was going to do, then got right to work. He first felt where the port is supposed to be. Mine tended to move around a bit the first few weeks, and that created a bit of a problem for him hitting it (took him 4 sticks). He prepped my skin with a cleanser and offered to use Lidocaine, but I declined. The needle is attached to a syringe holding the saline. I wasn't really …

Then I come here, check all the "New Content" since last logging in.....WOW...seems just about every post is about someone needing help...someone struggling....not happy, having a tough time...totally confused...falling off the wagon .looking to get back on track.....and the people who are having issues are prone to attack other people! (misery likes company?) and on and on it goes.... I'm glad I do not come here for inspiration and motivation....because there are days it just isn't visible! Not a good way for some to…

Ive had my band for three years now and had esophogeal dilation after the first year. but taking out all the Saline corrected the problem. I managed to lose the weight slowly without any more fills. Now im having strange sensations and cramping above my port, and I can feel the tube through my skin. It feels like its twisting around pulling on my muscles. It's hard to describe! wondering if anyone else had these symptoms and what is it? I'm calling the doc on Monday....

Starting my dr supervised 6 month before band diet today. She wants me to drink a Protein shake every day for Breakfast. 18-20 grams of protein. I know powder will be cheaper but I would like to have some already made up ones on hand for when I'm running late or don't feel like getting the blender out. Any suggestions? Also, most of the recipes I've seen on here call for the blender. Anyone have any that you would just shake up in a Blender Bottle? Thanks!

I had my lap band surgery in 2008. Initially, I lost 70 pounds. I have gained 30 of it back. My band is still adjusted, I tend to have to purge if I eat too much or do not chew enough. My health is not the best right now, I feel like i am at the end of my rope, therefore, I need support to restart my journey and advise on the best way to begin. I am thinking of doing the 5 day pouch diet. I am open to any suggestions you have to offer. Feeling like this is my last chance, Angela

Hi. I posted to the main page before I realized this great support group for 2005 Banders was around. I've had great success with my band, but went off program in 2009 because I was relocated for work (or perhaps that's just a lame excuse). After watching my weight creep back up (gained 50 percent back), I found a local doctor willing to take me as a patient. Had the band checked and filled this past Friday. My journey is starting again and I know finding a good support group is critical to success. So glad you're here! Julie
