I have had my band now close to 8 months. All has been going great with no issues at all. I have lost just over 50lbs. The problem is that a little over a week ago I over did it on Mexican food. I had a few nachos and flour tortillas. The next morning I had pain on the port. It almost feels like its bruised. I have no other issues and feel fine other wise. No nausea , I can keep food down, the port site looks fine. Any idea how long this last? Thanks!! T

Hi I was banded on March 25, 2013. I had my first follow up post op visit April 4. Pre liver shrinking diet weight was 232, current weight is 213. I started the "moonshies" on Friday. Never been so happy to eat a scrambled egg in my life. I also had a hiatal hernia repair, and get to go back to work Monday, April 8. I have found that I M not hungry, yet, on this current phase. I can no longer drink decaf coffee, weird, since I was able to do that during the liquids only phase. My energy level has increased, and I have dropped an entire pant size. I voiced concern about gaining weight during this phase, and my nutritionist told me to expect some, but to keep my focus. I …

I have been getting hungry every 2-3 hours as I have my first fill appointment scheduled on the 16th and am still on the post-op recovery diet. I am pretty much up to normal foods now. It's usually something sweet that catches my eye when this hunger strikes. Being diabetic (type 2), I shouldn't even consider it, but chocolate is my nemesis. My best buddy told me that he saw a special on TV about diabetes and it included a section on cravings. For you diabetics out there, magnesium is something to supplement if you have sweet cravings. It also is used by your body to get the insulin into your cells. So it makes your body use the insulin your body makes better. I am …

Went for my 3rd fill on Wednesday and was told I lost 13 lbs since last month. My doctor said I lost more than was expected which was 3-7 lbs. She said I really didn't need a fill but she was going to put .3 ccs in my band. The month before I only list 4 lbs. Doing the same exercises eating the same foods. Confused as to why I lost so much more the next month. Any ideas?

I can understand the logical reason to feel restriction for a few days after a fill, then possibly it going away. (Stomach is irritated and possibly swollen then the swelling goes down) But what logical reason would you "not" feel restriction immediately after a fill and then 1 1/2 weeks later feel it and somewhat over tight? I have read on this forum some veteran members stating to not worry if you don't feel the restriction after a fill that it could take up to 2 weeks to feel it. This makes no logical reasoning. Can someone explain it?

I was banded on Wednesday. It is not as bad as I expected, but I have shoulder, chest, and neck pain that is caused by both the release of gas and the aggrivation of a nerve. I know some said they do not need the pain medicine. I do. For the most part, I am able to get up and walk around and stuff as long as I am taking the pain medicine. If I push it off, it feels like I'm been punched in the stomach a few times. Anyway, overall, it has not been bad at all. Having my gallbladder out previously, this was no where near as painful. Also, I had the hernia/gerd surgery at the same time and am still doing better than I did with my gallbladder and every day, I'm feeling bette…

Well I'm 4 weeks post op and down 20 lbs since pre op weigh in. I usually get my Protein in shakes (muscle milk light) then a meal or two. I think I can eat to much and bet I will get a fill when I go in next week. For example I can eat a whole can of tuna plus crackers - I moisten it with low fat mayo and some mustard. I thought 2-4 oz was going to be my limit but that hasn't been the case My biggest take away during this time is to not drink during or after meals. Let the food stay where it is so u feel full longer! My energy has returned and I've started light exercising. So far so good!!!!!!!

Hi-I'm going to try to sum this up.....I was banded 2/14/12, I have lost 82 pounds and was doing pretty good. Three weeks ago I had issues where I couldn't eat or drink and it lasted for 2 weeks until I could get into my dr. I felt like food was stuck, a pork chop to be exact lol. I finally got in and the dr said there was food stuck and he deflated the band, the food passed, and he added more fluid. Prior to this incident I had my last fill in December and since then I can only eat maybe at most 1/4 cup of food for lunch and dinner. I can't eat anything for breakfast. I start my day with a cup of coffee or tea, then water. Around 9:00 I have a protein shake and c…

So tonight I practiced my new chewing tonight and ate even less food because I was fuller quicker..... first time ever I have stopped eating and went....hmm that's enough and been satisfied! I just signed up for this site after doing quite a bit of research on Lap Band. I'm turning 18 in May, and I've been overweight since I was about 7 or 8 years old. My dad and brother both went through a fatty stage, but both of them lost all the weight when they were around 13. I never managed to lose it, and every time I diet I lose around 20-30 pounds, only to gain it back. I'm a good 150 pounds overweight, and I really want to change my lifestyle. My brother is 24 now, and in great shape. My mother has always been thin, and I hate being the only overweight person in my family. Thankfully, they are very supportive (my mother especially, she's like my best friend). I am …

On March 21, I tried to get a fill but the flouroscope was broke. I went this past Monday and the PA could not access my port. I have a huge bruise to show from the experience. Fortunately, she had given me an injection of lidocaine so I did not feel the 15-20 minutes of probing with the needle! I went again this morning (and waited an hour!) but my surgeon was able to access my port in one try. He was great. He put 4cc in my band (14 cc band.) I'm on liquids for 2 days and then purees for 2 days. I am hoping to get another jump st…

  30. I was just curious about working in high temperatures? I am starting a new job working in pot rooms at Alcoa metals (they manufacture aluminum) and the temps can reach as high as 130 degrees for long periods of time. I have not reached my green zone yet but feel I'm close with 7cc's in my 11cc realize band. I have a fill on Monday and I'm wondering if I should put it off? Any info would be appreciated.

  31. So here goes my confession of failure. I was one of the lucky ones who got Ins to pay for my lapband in 2008. In the first 6 months I did loose about 50 pds (Pre/Post included). But I could not stand not drinking while I ate and eventually found that drinking Water after every bite to satisfy my dry mouth, I could eat more and thus my "drug" of food won over the purpose of having the band. I have only had 2 fills and no clue what they were or are. The only "good" thing is the band did prevent me from gaining everything back. But barely because I have sat at 30 pds loss for the last 4.5 years. No gain but no loss either. So due to stress with my husband and final…

Not looking forward to post op but I am tired of being fat and exhausted so I am determined to make this work. I want my life back, I have so many plans but the last few years I feel like I have been a prisoner to my weight. In a week this whole thing becomes a reality.

Can you relate??? Hi everyone, I feel compelled to post this morning about where I am in my journey. For the first time in years, I feel so free to be me. As I have lost weight over the past year and a half, I have gone through so many stages. First there was the "can I do this stage" then the "you mean I have to work at this too stage" then the "whos that girl in the mirror stage". Now, I feel so free to be me. I tucked my shirt into jeans and wore a belt. I wore a cute Easter dress to church. I spent so many years hiding from the world and hiding from myself. I tried every diet in the book, I really tried, then cried, got mad, gave up, and gained. I am so thankf…

The barium swallow showed zero Fluid making it through today, so the doc is fitting me in tomorrow. He's changing to the 3rd generation band and we'll leave it unfilled until all is calmed down. I hated the experience overall (it didn't help my concentration issues), but it was the only time in my life I was close to a healthy weight, because I was almost never hungry--except in the morning and after going all day forgetting to eat. For those who have been prescribed Adderall or similiar, I wonder--is the feeling of being in the Green Zone similar to that feeling of not being hungry? Or how would you compare the two feelings? I realize this is a silly question. I am curious about what the green zone feels like because I can'…
