  2. My mom has had several surgeries and thought I might just be from the breathing tube they put down are throat. I don't actually see blood just the taste but I will def. call dr in the morning. Thanks everybody for your opinions.
  3. I had my surgery on 8-28 and I am 8 days out. I am feeling great even started walking on my treadmill the last 3 days at a slow pace. But I have one problem I have a taste of blood inmy mouth (it's so gross). I had a sore throat for the first 2 days but I'm sure that's normal. But about day three I started getting the taste of blood mostly in the morning. Did anybody else get this? I hate to bother my dr with a small issue like this.
  4. I just use the required amount of protein powder/ and water and I add 1 teaspoon of decaf instant coffee and a teaspoon of sugar free vanilla syrup (Starbucks or tosani). Hills brothers sugar free cappuccino mix is a good add to.
  5. I did fine on my diet all day but I had just the broth part of hot and sour soup and to my surprise I had about a cup and a half. I wasn't watching what I was eating. I'm worried I stretched my pouch? Does the broth part of hot and sour soup go right through the band or will it stay in the upper pouch? I'm only 1 week post-op. no pain or anything just feel full.
  6. Good luck tomorrow Alex and Joanne. I was banded last tues. (28th) and am starting to get around a bit better today. Still have pain in my chest and shoulder but just taking regular tylenol. Love my hearing pad. The first few nights I was up walking around about every 4 hours to get rid of pain. Think I might actually be able to sleep through the night tonight. But I will say the last few days went buy quickly. Even with everything I've been through I have never once questioned having it done or regretted it. You will be in my prayers tomorrow.

  8. It seems sereal posting on the post-op thread. I had my surgery at 9am this morning and I am doing ok. I had a hieanal hernia I wasn't aware of that he repaired as well. I had no nausea at all, I have to thank the anesthesiaolgist for the "cocktail" he gave me for that. My belly is real sore and some back and shoulder pain but I have been doing a lot of walking. I have had broth and water only. My dr. Gave me tablet form Vicodin and my husband has been breaking them up in pieces for me to take I'm to scared to try and swallow one whole. Has anybody else taken them whole just curious? Just want to let everybody on here that has supported me along the way thank you and your info gave me the strength to go through with this.

  12. Thanks I'll keep that in mind . Need all the support I can get right now.
  13. Good luck, mine is today as well @ 8:00am. Wish it was over.
  14. I am having surgery Aug 28th and I have had mine for 4 years, he said it was fine at my pre-op appt. I never have a period but I'm on my 7th day of my liquid diet and from the drastic change in my diet and loosing 14lbs so quickly I have some light spotting and cramping. I called my gyno and she said that was my hormones changing and after I loose weight my periods might come back regularly. Just some info I thought you might want to know.
  15. I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet and the one thing that is saving my butt is isopure protein drinks. The the shake type but the flavored water ones. I got mine on amazon, grape frost and blue raspberry. They sort of have a sweet tart taste which is helping me because I'm sick of the thick sweet shakes alread. The best part is they have 40g of protein in each one and I don't feel hungry at all. Well worth the $ for sure. I am going to continue them post-op as well to help me get my protein.
  16. My doc said to wait a week and use a comfortable position. Just saying
  17. That's so true I did the same thing. Then they told me I had to loose 5% of my total weight. I did it but your right I should have wore a snow suit and boots lol

  20. Went to my pre-op appt. today and I'm getting excited and scared at the same time which I'm sure is normal. But I found out my dr. Uses Realize band instead of lap-band I'm not sure how I feel about this. For the last 4 months preparing for surgery I have only researched lap-band. I start my 9 day liquid diet Sunday so I have a little time to look into this but if anybody has any info to offer I would appreciate it. The dr. Did tell me it has a smaller low profile port which I have to admit I like the idea of that.
  21. I was in the grocery store buying all my stuff for my pre-op diet and the cashier said "bet yor statring a diet"? I explained that I was having lap-band and she proceeded to tell me not to do it. She said I had RNY and it's so much better and her best friend got lap-band and only lost 40 lbs, gained it all back, hates her band and wishes she would have got the RNY. I finnished cashing out and when I got to my car I just wanted to cry, I went into the store with such a positive attitude and she crushed it in a mattter of minutes. When I got home I told my husband what happened and he said" she doesn't know you and she doesn't know you strenght and willpower DON'T let her get you down your are doing what feels right to you." He was right so I picked my self back up and I am trying to get back in the right frame of mind but I still have that bit of doubt. My surgery is Aug 28th and I start my pre-op diet on the 19th. I started this journey in April> Through this whole thing I never questioned what procedure to have untill now.
