If this was the right place to put this thread, but... I got banded January 2nd of this year and I'm down 62 pounds. Just wondering if I'm losing too slowly?

I have an appointment with the nurse at my doctor's office this morning. I'm not sure if I should have her do a small fill, as I'm not clear about the "green zone", and what it's supposed to feel like. Right now, I'm able to take pretty normal size bites. Not snarfing size bites, but.....regular. I chew pretty well, and haven't had any problems. I may have had a tiny stuck sensation, but I'm not sure what that feels like, either. What I think MAY have been a little stuck, lasts for only a few seconds. I'll feel a little jab in my sternum, right above where the band is. Most of the time, I'm clear when it's time to stop eating, but sometimes I push it a bit. I do…

Hi I'm Bronte and I'm 21 with a two year old son. I've tried pills and diets under the sun and nothing works so I made an appointment this morning to speak to a surgeon. I weigh 240 @5ft 7in so I'm considered obese. I'm just so nervous what if it doesn't work. What if something happens. I'm scared but truly want this!

I got stuck yesterday morning and it never cleared. Today I still can't get liquids down and it's 7pm. Should I go to the ER or try to wait it out until tomorrow and go see my doctor. I'm worried about dehydration. I'm so damn thirsty! I try to drink just to taste the water but then I have to throw it back up. Help!

  12. I have my first fill scheduled for this week, and last week I had a sidebar conversation with my surgeon at a meeting. He told me I was losing weight fine, and he didn't recommend a fill, but if I wanted to spend the money, go ahead with it. I typically see his NP, and she had scheduled my fill 3 weeks ago. Yes, I'm losing on average 3-4 lbs a week, and am almost 6 wks post op, but I can eat more than 1/2 cup. I think my weight loss is contributed to the complete change of diet and the addition of more exercise. And I don't feel the restriction of the band, which he said I shouldn't. I've read on here that if you can eat more than 3 meals a day, over 1/2 cup each time …

  13. Hello, I posted here way back when I had my surgery in 2006 but I haven't been back in years. I tried talking to some folks at OH.com but.... not too helpful there. Here's my story and question. I will try to make it short and sweet. I got banded in July, 2006 with the 10cc band. I lost 130 lbw in the first year and got down to a size 6 (from a 22!). I still love my band and I am happy with my decision to have it but the last few years have been bad to me. I lost my job and insurance about a year after having the band. I was able to self pay a few times to get into my doctor for check ups but after year 2 or 3, I could not afford to go back. In that time, I gained 7…

  14. I just moved here to Irving, Texas about 4 months or so ago from CA. I left all of my friends and the little family I had to bring my family here and to try to give them a better life and better oppertunities. Since May I've gained back 35 lbs slowly, and I'm so discouraged I don't have any friends here and my husband doesn't really give me the emotional support I need. Is there anyone in the area? I really would like to get back on track and meet some new friends here in my new home.

  15. I'm going to rant a bit. I'll be scheduling my surgery this week. I am so excited. This is a long time coming. While out for Mother's Day dinner, I mention to my husband (as he kept pushing me to try something that I had no interest in eating) I said no, and I'm hoping going forward you will not try and sabotage me, but be helpful & supportive. I went over all the changes we'll need to make as a family, and his response " I'm sorry, I like to eat, and enjoy dining out". I just zipped up for the rest of the night. He's always making me feel bad. I am strong, and my kids are supportive... I'll kick butt!!'

I'd like to meet a guy who is going through or has went through the Lapband. It would be nice to have someone who understands what I'm going through and motivate me. I just want someone at the end of the day I can call and talk to about my day and my worries and my diet and it won't bore him. It'd be nice to find someone banded in my area but I there isn't even anyone my age in my support groups. So long distance wouldn't bother me. I live in TN. Born and raised here, open for moving. So if something did evolve I could see a move happening. I'm going to be 27 in September. My Lapband is still in the approval stages with insurance. Just doing all the required stuff at this…

  24. So I have been struggling with the fill amount in my band for almost four months now. I have had two small un-fills and I am now at less Fluid in my band than I have had since mid December. December was when I got my last addition of fluid to the band as I was close but still a little too loose. In the past week I have finally figured out that it is my acid reflux that was irritating my band area and was causing me to be still too tight even with un-fills. I have upped my acid reflux medicine and it has done wonders for my ability to eat consistently. I think I will need to spend the next 2-3 weeks getting back into the groove of eating solid food consistently and not…

I know this subject has been discussed before because I posted in it. However, the more weight I'm losing the colder I am. I can't stand the AC but we have to have it on so it won't be so hot. When watching TV I am completely wrapped in a blanket in order to stay warm. I sleep in flannel PJ's with a thick blanket and comforter. Do any of you know why our bodies change like that? Will it ever stop meaning will I stay cold all the time?

I lost 45 lbs with no fills and then I plateaued. I decided to get 2 fills which put me at 6 cc in a 10cc band. I still feel like I can eat just as much as I did before the surgery. What is going on? Did I completely sabotage the entire surgery and stretch my stomach out or do I just need another fill? I don't feel like I have any restriction what so ever.

I had my 3rd fill on Wednesday. I'm currently at 6.5cc in a 14cc band. I don't feel any difference then my last fill. I can eat anything, but I keep myself away from breads and high calorie foods. I'm feeling very frustrated, I hate the fact that I can still eat whatever I want. I'm hungry just a hour or two after eating and I HATE to eat again in a short amount of time. I just want to be at my "sweet spot" I know it takes time. Just curious as to those with a 14cc band, at what cc did you start to fill restriction??

  34. I was banded on Jan. 10, 2013 and so far I've been doing pretty darn good. I had one mild set back a couple weeks ago when I had my fill and I was too tight, so my doctor had to do a slight unfill. The first week or so after my unfill, I was doing great, I wasn't hungry and felt very satisfied when I ate. However, the past 3 days I have been really struggling to eat right. I'm not sure if I'm just not getting enough to eat, or maybe I'm just head hungry. I've been staying between 600 - 900 calories a day, but I'm beginning to wonder if that's enough. The past 3 days I've eaten 1000 - 1200 calories and I have gained 2 lbs! I have also felt really tired this week and…

  37. Hi there. My name is Molly and I was banded 9 years ago. This year my port got infected and I had to have my band removed 2 weeks ago. I was wondering, anyone who has had it removed, how long did it take for the port wound to heal? Having to pack it twice a day is a pain, but so far I'm not doing it myself because I have family who is willing to do it-- but if it goes on for a long time, I'm going to have to figure out how to do it myself. Is it just me or is it really hard to eat small bites?! I finally have good restriction but I just can't seem to get the hang of eating. I get stuck every time! I'm 10 months postop and every time I've gotten good restriction, I end up going for an unfill because I'm always getting stuck. What the heck is wrong with me?!
