Hey all, I was banded Monday and in the last two days have really started to miss real food, the taste and textures etc I really was in love with my favorite foods so I am interested to know what I can still incorporate into my meals, and how much portion-wise as the idea if trying to go without a fill sounds better... I hope this doesn't come across as not being committed it's just my honesty. P.S. i am aware I crave unhealthy foods... have never liked green veggies which is hard! I certainly know can't eat how I did before but my taste buds will always remain... Chinese food - Dumplings, egg drop Soup, lo mein, orange chicken (loooved fried rice but know rice is…

Hi, I haven't been around in a while, and haven't lost any weight in a while either. Hmmm. It will be 2 years since surgery for lap band on August 16th. I have lost 75 pounds. My goal is to lose 20 more. But I haven't lost anything in the past 6 months. I am getting very discouraged. I run 3-4 times a week. I try to eat well although I will admit I do occasionally eat the wrong things. I do count my calories And I never go crazy over. My question is, I have been seeing my Dr. Every 3 months. I have an appt. tomorrow. I have been getting a fill at just about every visit. I embarrassed that I have not lost anything, again. Should I go ? Or reschedule the appt. and…

I attended my lap band support mtg tonight (monthly), big turnout, the nutritionist leads it. Had 4 ladies in there in their pre op diet phase and one having surgery tomorrow I was so excited for her that I was joking around and told her I just may show up at 5:30 am with pom poms to cheer her on, of course we just laughed. I'm almost to my one year bandiversary next month and though things have been slow coming off I'm proud of my weight loss, wish it was more but very proud and never in a million yrs did I ever think I'd be sitting here thinking I'd be down 68 lbs in 11 mos and how great I feel. My nutritionist tonight at the meeting was saying as long as you're getti…

Hello everyone!!! I had my lap and removed about 10 days ago and I was wondering how long I should be "swollen"? It also feels like I have a rock beneath by belly button where my port used to be....I feel very bloated. But other then that, I am doing great. Not too sore anymore and I only took pain meds for 2 days:) My and had slipped and I was not able to keep food or liquids down. I admitted myself to the hospital and they told me I needed to remove my and it was no longer safe to keep it in. I lost over 100 pounds and now I am working to keep it off:))) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi all- I am just beginning the process, contemplating being banded. I had looked into it, attended an info session, 3 years ago, but had Blue Cross of NJ at that time, and they required 6 months of a medically supervised weight loss program. I was inpatient, as well as engaged to a very unsupportive man so I didn't pursue it. Fast forward 3 years, I now have Amerihealth POS Plus, and am living with a wonderful man who will support my decision 100%. I called my insurance company and they were very vague as to what's involved for approval. I am attending an info session tomorrow with a different surgical group (the one 3 years ago seemed a bit like a factory to me - too …

I have been getting messages from men asking me to email them back and wanting to discuss oil business and crap. And strange women wanting to "get to know me better"... Posting stuff under my pictures... What is going on? Anyone else getting these? I like coming here because it's a wonderful place where i can talk to fellow band members.... I really feel violated. I did report it to Alex... lets see. I hope it stops.

I just started my 1 week pre-op liquid diet today, and my husband and son said they would just leave the house and go eat. I thought that was so thoughtful. I thought I was going to have to go to my room or something or worse yet cook, but he suggested he would just go out and eat, I'm sure that was not that hard of a choice for him , but I still thought he did not have to do it. He said we work something out for the rest of the week. He is really surprising me with how supportive he is being  . Just sharing. Thanks. ~~~Stephanie

Why is it I crave so so so bad something sweet right after I eat each meal? I don't eat something sweet because I can't or I'd throw up, I'm at my soft stop point, I hiccup and I know to stop eating but the craving is horrible and I just want to graze and it's there for at least a couple of hrs. To the point I wait a couple of hrs and give in and eat fresh fruit or a applesauce or immediately after eating I will put a piece of sf hard candy in my mouth. How do I overcome this?

I go for my first fill in two days (thank god). I originally lost 12 lbs the first week but as soon as I got on solids I have only kept 8 lbs off. My problem is that I have been eating less (barely) but I can't seem to find motivation to eat healthier! I found myself finishing my sons pizza tonight, and although it was maybe half the amount I'd usually eat, I should have been making a better choice. I am wondering if my motivation level will change after my fill? Will I ever be satisfied and not craving pizza and bread? Will I eat substantially less once I have a fill? I know I'm eating like 2 cups now, not one. I overrate once and had a big stomach ache, so I do know my …

I had a second fill this morning, and now have 7 cc's in my 10cc band. I sat & drank the three glasses of Water before leaving the doctor's office (they have everyone do that to make sure there aren't any obvious issues). I was fine. Now I'm drinking a Protein shake, and it's going down okay, but I am having gurgling, and I feel it sit for a few seconds before it goes all the way through. This is new to me, because I've had ZERO issues since surgery. Is this normal? I'm wondering what it will be like when I start back on regular food. They only added 1/2 cc to what was already in the band, and I'm hoping it gives me the bit of restriction (for lack of a bett…

I was just banded yesterday, May 3rd. I'm doing pretty well. Very sore and tired. Excited to have finally made it here though. I lost 25 lbs from my initial consult to surgery which was 3 1/2 months. Looking forward to more weight loss but more importantly being healthy!

I was banded 12/3/12 and I am down 58lbs. My problem is I have noticed that I have become my own worse critic. People keep asking me if I can see the difference and all I can say I FEEL the difference. I honestly dont see a difference and people look at me like I am crazy. I honestly am not fishing for compliments from friends and co-workers. I made a goal to buy a new outfit at 50lbs but when I did go shopping I kept pointing out my arms or legs and finally got discouraged so I chose not to buy anything. Has anyone else gone through this? I should be proud of my accomplishments so far but all I do is look at my problem areas. I joke with a few friends that I must …

Ok so I'm newly banded and I'm in the full liquids stage. I'm wondering if its ok to eat my meals over a long period of time. I still only eat my small portion but I find even a cup of soup I need to spread it to about 2 or 4 sittings of small bites. I'm satisfied after a few bites and don't want to push it but then 30-60 min later I'm feeling hungry again. Is it ok to do this as long as I'm still only eating the same small portion? Thanks for any advice.

I was curious what the thoughts are of people with the lap-band or anyone really, but what you all think about the lap-band and the big likely hood of having to have a revision or it just plan removed. Basically the fact that it does not seem to last forever. Did you know this when you made your decision or did you find out later? Would you do the same thing or would you do it differently? Do you have any advice for someone contemplating the band? So far I've decided to go with the band anyway, my insurance will cover having it taken out if there is a complication. I'm going to bring it up to the Dr. though. I'm just tossing around the idea of whether or not my thi…

Six weeks post surgery I am scheduled for my first fill tomorrow. I'm excited, but not sure what to expect after. I have no fill at this time and can eat anything I have tried. Including a Soft Pita, haven't tried bread because I haven't wanted it. I have been losing slowly, about 16 lbs since surgery April 5. It is tough trying to get in enough Protein eating what I am eating now. I know that I will get 2cc and go back every 2 weeks until I am in the green zone. What I don't know is what to expect. As far as I know I have no restriction right now but I know I am not as hungry as I used to be, that could just be the Water. How did you feel after your first fill?

So, I've had a feeling in my throat as if something may be stuck there. I've felt this way since yesterday afternoon. I'm burping to try to get relief. I also think my sinuses are draining which isn't helping. I'm going to call my doctor today to see what it could possibly be. Has anyone else had this feeling.

Hi, I know that it seems ages away but my surgery is booked for June 1st (7 weeks tomorrow!!) and I just can't wait so I thought I'd start a June 2007 thread... anyone else out there due for surgery in June??? How to Get a Good Lap Band Fill First off, fills are usually given two months after having lap band surgery. Most people will need a fill, a few do not. Talk to your doctor to determine if you are in need of a fill. If you are needing to have a fill, which is just a short way of saying having saline added to the band, this article tells you what you need to know as far as prepping to get a successful fill. Water is your friend. You need to be well hydrated when you get a fill. Make sure you are getting six to eight full glasses for several days prior to your fill. Critically important is to make sure that you have enough fluids on the morning of your fill. If you…

I'm 3.5 weeks post surgery and do great during the day with food and choices, but I'm having trouble at night. I get hungry around 8pm and it's like a snack just doesn't do it. I'm overeating and end up feeling stuffed/sick right before bed. I don't get my first fill until June 7 so right now I don't really have restrictions. I'm afraid I'm going to start gaining and know this is key to getting under control if I am going to succeed with this lapband. I should also mention I'm a type 2diabetic so a pre-bed snack s recommended right now for my blood sugars... Any suggestions? Tricks? Motivation?

I had my second fill today. We stopped at Burger King on the way home. (great idea right?) I had about three bites of my hamburger and a few fries WHILE drinking my cold ice tea. Needless to say I was in a bit of pain rather quickly. I thought I was eating slow but I forgot about the no drinking while eating thing. The pain pretty much subsided on the rest of the hour long drive home. I get home and decide to take my meds and take a nap so I put my pills in my mouth and shoot them down like I have for years with a couple huge gulps of cold ice Water. This is when the pain really begins! It hurt so freakin' bad... pretty sure I am having an esophageal spasm. Its a pain I…

Hi everyone...I have just found this forum..and I am glad I did.I had my lapband since 2007. Did ok for the first year but I have gone through a couple of years of ups and downs. Divorce and moving that kind of thing. I have been putting it off but I am trying to find a Dr in the area that I live in now to continue my care. I had my surgery in Souheast Ga and moved to Newnan after my divorce. . I was able to go back a few times for my fills but have not been able to get back. Hard to take time off but it is my own fault for not keeping up. I tried to find a Dr when I first moved and got the some reply. We do not want to take another Drs pt. So I gave up looking. Today I'm two weeks post op & I had my 1st post op appt & 1st fill. I must admit I was nervous. But my surgeons & his staff are GREAT! I received a shot of a local anesthesia & was given 3.5cc in my band. I was able to get all the barium liquid down with out a problem. I'm really hoping to have a good amount of restriction after this but I know that maybe asking much from my 1st fill. I'm just excited now & feel like a real BANDER now since my first fill cherry has been popped lol. The only thing I seem to keep feeling like I'm going to burp. And its a 50/50 chance that I actually burp. Other then that, so far so good.... I started this process fro…

To all my friends in bandland… I would love your advice. I am just moving from the post-op liquid puree diet phase into the mushy food phase and in two weeks on to the solid food phase. I feel as though I am doing well with the soft food phase though I have only tried some light turkey breast today so far. The tiny quarter of a wrap sandwich I pulled it off was very satisfying and it felt amazing to be able to chew and taste something other than chocolate or vanilla. It was also amazing to feel full and satisfied after just a tiny piece of sandwich! I am so grateful for that and hopeful that it continues to help me in the days and months to come. The doctor …

I am about 7 months post-op and have done very well losing weight. About 6 weeks ago I began seeing a personal trainer and increasing my strength/weight training. I have been at a plateau (not gaining but not losing) for the last 6 weeks. I had a partial fill (previously had not had a fill at all) and that didnt seem to kick-start weight loss. I sort of thinking I am building muscle, but am so frustrated that the scale is not moving at all. Anyone have any suggestions on things to do to reset or kick my body into gear? I do highly variable exercises all the time, so I do not think it is because I am doing the same thing over and over again. Any suggestions would be aw…

I went for my second fill today. My paperwork said that I had 2cc's in my band but when the doctor emptied it, I had 6.25cc's!!! He asked me why I was getting a fill when I have been losing weight and I told him I thought I needed one because I was still eating more then I should be (I would eat the proper amount of protein then eat a bunch of salad or veggies until I was satisfied). I think it was more mental though, thinking that I needed a second fill because I thought I was only at 2cc's and how could I already be at the green zone after 1 fill?? I think it was all in my head. Well he emptied the 6.25cc's and bumped it up to 6.5cc's. Nope! The white stuff they make y…
