port infection/removal-healing time?

Hi there. My name is Molly and I was banded 9 years ago. This year my port got infected and I had to have my band removed 2 weeks ago. I was wondering, anyone who has had it removed, how long did it take for the port wound to heal? Having to pack it twice a day is a pain, but so far I'm not doing it myself because I have family who is willing to do it-- but if it goes on for a long time, I'm going to have to figure out how to do it myself. Thanks, Molly

All wounds heal differently so it would be hard to put a time frame to it. Most important is to keep the open wound from infection and good nutrition so your body can heal. Best wishes.
