First let me say this has been a wonder decision for me and I have no regrets at all. That said.... I am about 5 years post op and have gone from 352 pounds to my current weight of 216 pounds. I have gone from a size 50 jeans to a size 32. Awesome! In addition In 2012 I had a full tummy tuck with good results. My issue is that I have a hard time eating anything and this is causing nutritional issues as well as impacting energy to exercise as I wish not to mention energy just for daily activity. I have never been able to eat steak or anything like it post op, but for the past 2 years or so even Water can be an issue. Soups and Protein drinks have become a prima…

Well I went in to get a fill today and found out my port has completely flipped and I can't get a fill anymore. I am so frustrated right now. I just cried at the office. The doctor said it just means I am not meant for the band after all these years and I should do the sleeve instead because it has a higher success rate than the band. Didn't even offer me options to get the port slipped back. This happened to anyone else?? I am just at a lost....

We're leaving for a 7 day Alaskan cruise on Monday! Already have my snack bag packed for the 8 hr drive to Seattle (almonds, Cheerios, jerky and a cooler for yogurt and water). Our last 3 cruises, I was banded and never gained any weight. This time tho I'm totally unfilled (slipped last month, awaiting a revision to sleeve in late June) and I've gained a few lbs since being unfilled. I've noticed tho that my stomach hurts really bad for about 24 hrs and I have to be on liquids for 2-3 days when I overdo (like I did 1 day last week) so I'm hoping that will deter me from eating too much. Anyone who's been on a cruise probably know what I'm talking about! Access to food 24 h…

Ok I went to the surgeons office today for my regular check up and hopped on the scale. I'm down 8 pounds for the month. All this time, I'm beating myself about my weight not moving and this is the reason. I'm so relieved! I told the doc I live in a old traditional brick bungalow and he said maybe your floors aren't leveled. PROBABLY SO! So my advice to the new bandsters! Make sure your scale is accurate and your house is leveled. Lol

Trying to get a idea on how people are controlling their eating. Do you count calorie's or just watch what you eat? I am unfortunately not one of the people who can adhere by the just "eat lean protein and veggies and eat as much as you want" as my doctor said. So I am open to how you guys have tracked your food consumptions hoping I can get some good suggestions from those of who have been successful!

I am just curious. I measure most everything that I eat. I keep seeing posts in some of the lap band groups where people are saying they are upset they are not losing but they count calories. Turns out they are not measuring their food? How on earth can you count calories if you are not measurin your poritons? Most of these posts are newer people. They just want to be right and don't want to listen. Oh well... maybe this post will help someone..

I started mushies on day seven post surgery, and was doing regular food by the end of two weeks. I haven't had any issues and I'm over a month post op at this point...with a fill scheduled for may 15. I was just wondering if i could have done something wrong that will give me issues later? My stomach was so upset during that first two week period i felt like i needed to eat something solid to get it to stop. Any thoughts on what can happen if you start solids to soon?

First of all I want to let you know that I had surgery last Thursday. Right after surgery I was put on a full liquid diet by my surgeon. I didn't have to do Clear liquids. I was asked to start my Protein supplements right away. I was having terrible nausea every morning since surgery and it would get remarkably better in the afternoon. I thought I was possibly taking in to much liquid at once so I broke up my Protein shake so I drank half in the morning and half in the evening and i was literally nauseated ALL DAY. Now today I had a meeting this morning and didn't want to be sick so I didn't drink it this morning and I feel like 100 percent better. I am going to try to ma…

Ok. I'm a little confused and I just need a little clarity. I'm not sure if I'm at my sweet spot. 6.3cc in a 10.cc band. I eat less but can still eat more then a cup (I was told by my Dr I should only be eating a cup). Question 1: If I can still eat more then a cup of food before I feel satisfied, then is the reason food is getting stuck because I'm not chewing good enough and taking too big of bites? Question 2: was question 1 a dumb question? I would like to know what you veterans are eating morning to night. I am really trying hard to work this lapband and I'm not doing it right. I've researched tons but I work better with first hand information from someone who's been…

Banded in 2007...I lost 75 lbs...doing O.K. But never got to goal. Started having problems 2 years ago. I went to my band doctor..he wouldn't listen when I said there was something wrong. 3 months ago went to a new surgeon to have an endoscope to find out what was wrong. He found the band was originally placed too low. I have a prolapse of my stomach through the band and esophageal dilation. New surgeon said the band needs to come out. One problem is..no insurance...I would have to be self pay about 16k. My question has anyone had the same problem and what did you do to fix it? Is there a way to NOT have to have a revision to another WLS? I don't want to rush into ano…

I work from 6am to 430pm and we get 10 minute breaks at 8am, 10am, and 230pm with 30 minutes lunch at 12pm. I usually can't get Breakfast till 8 or 10 and have to kinda rush myself since I don't work at a desk and can't continue past break. So that pretty much ruins my entire food day if I get stuck. If everything goes ok I have a good lunch and a wonderful rest of the day. The only thing I can think of is getting up at 4am and having breakfast before work, but it's near impossible for me to get up that early. Any suggestions? I work as a mechanic and have management and lead mechanics around all the time. So I can't really cheat on my break times.

I've been told by my WLS that my band has to come out. I've also been told the I didn't fail, the band failed me - or more like the band functioned as it should, my body just didn't like it. Nevertheless, I'm now a candidate for VSG at the same time the band is removed. Problem is I can't decide which route to take!? As a two-time breast cancer survivor, I realize the importance of a healthy weight and lifestyle...but losing 75% of my stomach also sounds risky. Even my surgeon pointed out that this is the newest of the procedures - comparatively speaking - and who knows the long term outcomes? Apparently the staple line could leak at some future date, there's a risk of n…

I know for a fact I am addicted to processed carbs. I can eat a piece of bread or candy and literally feel my mood lift. Last year (preband), I tried to quit processed carbs. It worked for about eight months and I lost about 40 pounds. The battles I had with my brain were way more intense than the battles I had when I quit smoking. I fell off the wagon with a thin slice of birthday cake. I gained the 40 pounds back in about 6 weeks. I was banded in the beginning of April and have been processed carb free for eight weeks now. I'm feeling alone with my battle against these carbs. I often think people think I'm just a crazy fat girl, looking for excuses. Does anyone else s…

Today is day 6 and my emotions are all over the place. I'm happy because I FINALLY get to eat something other than a protein shake! It has been a long road. On the other hand I am TERRIFIED to step on a scale. I have not weighed myself since surgery day. *302* I was shocked to learn that I actually lost weight BEFORE I got banded. I've struggled my entire adult life and half my childhood with my weight. I keep thinking its too good to be true. What if I still weigh 302 or even worse what if I GAIN weight?!?

Now i know You supose to eat 3 healthy meals aday. I have been eating 4 to 5 meals a day but always healthy…

I was stuck on scrambled eggs this am (I've been generally okay with eggs since the surgery). This was my first stuck episode. It was so bad that as I was driving 75mph on the interstate I popped a Zofran to keep from vomiting. That was about 3 hours ago. I slimed for about 1 hour and felt something coming up but then, nothing. I don't have any BP symptoms any longer. Should I feel safe to assume it broke apart and went through after all and that I'm good now?

Its now what 6 months since I had my lapband and I have lost about 5 kg (11 lbs). A man went around same time as me and he has lost around 30 kg (66 lbs). Both went to the same doctor. Its always some trouble with this band. Always too little or too less. I just had my filling 2-3 weeks ago and its a nightmare. I can eat crackers, chips, chocolate without problems but meat and vegetables? No way thats possible. I burp back up everything. Doesnt matter how small it is it has to go back up. I so miss eating normal food. I feel so hopeless. Last couple of days ive eaten like 5 crackers (not even 500 kcal) and nothing else but still the weight doesnt move.... I have t…

I am going in for my first fill appointment/checkup I live hours away so my Dr has let me do phone checkups s far but I am traveling out for my 4 week checkup. I am 3 weeks and 1 day right now... What questions do they ask to determine if you need a fill or not? I will do what ever they suggest is best but I'm curious what they will decide and thought some of you that have been through it might have some insight that I don't. Just so you know I never am hungry and rarely have any appetite at all, I only occasionally have issues with head hunger but nothing that wins over my will power, my biggest problem is that with no hunger I don't care if I don't eat but when…

Hello! Has anyone used Medifast Meals for meal replacements when on the go? I see they have 11g of protein and offer vitamins. I was thinking of ordering some, but wanted to see if anyone has tried them and if they were any good. It's about $100 for 35 "meals".
