With the protein shake I am great I was only laid up for 4 days after surgery I had it on Memorial day weekend so I wasn't out of work much I work in the kitchen at the high school so it wasn't bad the only problem I had was the pants around my stomach

I really wish my doctor had stressed how important it is to have support from other people going through the same thing. My nutritionist does a support group, but it's once a month and all the way at Chilton Memorial Hospital in NJ. I miss the whole Weight Watchers weekly meeting...not only the weekly weigh-ins, but the interaction with other members and exchange of tips and recipes. But I don't think I would get anything from the meetings anymore. Their members have a different set of challenges than we do. Up until a week or so ago when I started checking in on LBT more frequently, I kind of felt lost and alone. Did anyone else feel this way after surgery?

I am so glad there are people in my area that have gone thought the same thing we need to stay in touch

I go in tomorrow and I'm going to be honest I'm petrified I'm not sure of what though anesthesia which I've had before or what I anticipate the first few post op days will be like ugh I hate this feeling

It's normal to be scared I could tell you that you will be fine but its still in the back of your head. I was sore the first 2 days but not unbearable I also didn't take the pain kills they game me because I am sensitive to meds who is your doctor again?

Dr. Rivera in new city ... Does the pain have anything to do with weight? I'm worried about not using my abdomin like how do I stand up or use the bathroom?

It has nothing to do with the weight you will be a little hunched but not bad and make sure you walk around get your self some gasx the gas is a little painful

I do have gas x hopefully ill be ok but want to get thorough the first 3 days

You will be okay we are all here for you hugs

Hey there. How is everyone doing? Has anyone been to the bariatric support group at Good Sam? I was thinking about going, but wanted to know if anyone's been there and got anything out of it.

Also, does anyone know of a therapist in the area that kind of specializes in WLS surgery patients?

Hello I go to the support group my doctor has once a month. What doctor are you interested in

My doctor's support group is at Chilton Memorial in NJ which is pretty far for me. Do people who had surgery with other doctors go to your support group? I'm not sure how this works.

I've been to the support group at Good Sam as a pre-op obligation through my doctor (Dr. Rivera). Those are actually his support groups. A nutritionist ran the group and there was a woman there who had the sleeve and many other pre-op patients also. It did help me know what to expect going into this. The nutritionist was prepared with a recipe and some other helpful guidelines to stay successful on this journey. I may start going to those, I'm not sure yet.
