Hello Lap Banders- I had my surgery on May 7th, the surgery went well. My post-op was difficult, while being discharged from the hospital the physicians assistant was a little too anxious and had me stop taking my meds. no insulin, no high blood pressure pills, nothing. Well two days later I ended up in the ER going into a diabetic coma with kidney failure. Thank God that my husband realized that something was wrong and called 911. ( he was about to leave out for work). I spent 5 days in AICU and 1 day on the regular unit before being discharged. After that my weight loss was 1 pound a day. It's crazy because the 14 pounds that I loss 2 days after the surgery, I am thinking this is great, however going back into the hospital under the condition that my body was in has really thrown my body out of whack. I am down a total of 32 pounds but the weight loss has been very slow. My doctor says that due to the admittance to the hospital that that has thrown everything back, he says considering how sick I was that I am doing really great. It hasn't been easy, the only foods that still taste the same to me are crabs and fish, every other food that I have tried has been awful my taste buds have really changed. I use to drink a certain protein drink before the surgery after the surgery I couldn't stomach the taste of it. I have finally found one that taste great. Thank God! I know that the journey won't be easy, but I have to remember to take one day at a time and that I am 32 pounds less than I was 2 months ago.
