Plateau Hell
I am so glad to hear that it's not just me. I can lose 8 pounds a month and then gain back 3-4 pounds, it takes another 2-3 weeks trying to get that weight off. I have not changed anything about my routine. I weight in @ 210. 4 weeks ago and now hovering between 210----215. about 3 weeks ago I had a pickle attack, where I only craved pickles and I did indulge more than I should but it was the sodium that go me and not the calories. Not sure what to do, I feel that I have hit a plateau.

Where'd My Second Chin Go?
Just keep going, my surgeon tells me that I am doing great. I've lost 47 lbs 5 months. Not counting the week I spent in AICU after the surgery. Slow is good, because you want it to stay off. Stay on the journey and you will get there.

Decision Between Weight Loss Surgeries??
I knew from the beginning that Lap band was the way for me, I have two co-workers who have the gastric done, and they tried to convince me that, that would be the way to go. When I see one of them in the bathroom all the time (getting sick) because she ate something that she wasn't supposed to, I know that I made the right choice. I love me band, because I still have control and it's up to me to make good food choices as opposed to my body rejecting something that I really want but don't want to get sick. This person actually had it done twice a (revision) because she gain all of her weight back. My director actually had it done several years ago, and she has doubled her weight gain. I know with the Lapband you can gain as well, but if you feel that your are eating too much with this you can at least have a fill. It's been 3 months since my surgery I've lost 40 pounds without having a fill. Just know whatever you decide you have to be dedicated to it. Good luck.

Would Like A Mentor, Please
Hi, I am here if you need me. I've been banded for 3 months and am down 38 pounds, it hasn't been hard for me as far as eating and exercising. I haven't had a fill yet, so I can't help you there. It's not often that I get hungry,On my visit last month, the nurse told me that sometimes the doctor get the band in the right location and you are in the "green" zone from the beginning. and the he must have placed mine the the right spot and will more than likely never need a fill. Good Luck to you on your journey knowing that you will do well.

Taste Affected?
It's not just in the morning that your taste is affected, it's most foods that I use to eat no longer taste the same. I do remember for a time, that after I had my part of my thyroid removed that my taste for certain things changed as well, I was about a year later that I started to get my taste back for those things.

New Patient
I didn't have any pain, only the gas pain that were bad. but my recovery was great.

Taste Affected?
That is good you want to go slow. I thought that I was the only one that had taste issues. The foods that I loved before has the most horrible taste since the surgery. 3 months out. So my meals consists of fruit, cheese, crackers and fish. I loved roasted chicken now the taste is the worst. We had our family reunion last weekend, I just watched everyone else eat, thank God there were veggies there or I would have had to leave and find food for me to eat. I did ask the doctor, he said the good thing was that I only have a taste for the good protein.

Mirrors Vs. Pictures
I thought that it was only me that see only imperfections. My husband, family and friends see things a lot differently that I do. I never really took pictures due to my weight and even though I have lost weight, I still won't take pictures. I will have to find some before and after shots so that I can compare. Be encouraged in know that in time you will have the desired look that you are aiming for.

Day 2 After Surgery
Congrats to you both, this journey has been a wonderful thing for me. I've learned to eat healthy. I have been banded for 3 months and have not had a fill yet. I am 36 pounds down. I walk at least 20 minutes each day and I also work out on my glider in the evening. I am currently training for a 5k run. something that I want to accomplish before I reach my goal. Good luck to both of you, may you have a happy and health journey as well. Many blessings upon you

Discouraged
That is awesome!, you've lost 5.6 pounds per week, maybe you should get another doctor. I've lost 36 pounds in 12 weeks and my doctors tells me that, that is great I just saw him on yesterday. Even the nurse said that, that was pretty good for 12 weeks. Keep up the good work and it will come off at a pace that is safe and healthy for your body, you can do it.

I too have thought that my weight loss would have been more. I had surgery on 5/7/12 I am down 36 pounds, in 3 months. After reading the other replies. I guess I'd better be thankful and know that going slow is the key to keeping it off. Good Luck and keep up the good work.
