Has anyone been told that their stomach has flipped, prior to banding. They found out mine has flipped when they did the upper GI & so I had to do a barium swallow as well. My GI Dr said that the surgeon would have to put it back in place prior to banding me. I am at higher risk of having a regular incision.

Lol. I have no idea. Dr said they may be able to tell during surgery.

Do you think maybe it "slipped"? If you have a hiatal hernia, the stomach can "slip" up into the chest...

Dr said the Hernia I have is more complex. The bottom of my stomach is flopped up to the top and is herniated through the diaprham.

wow, does it cause you lots of pain or heartburn? Just think how good you will feel once it is fixed. I had a huge hiatal hernia and after being banded and having the hernia fixed at the same time I feel 100% better. No more heartburn and no more stomach pills.

Yes, my symptoms were getting worse with time. Shortly before I started on my liquids I could not eat a full meal without feeling like it would come back up if I took another bite. (kind of like the band will be I imagine, lol) I found out the hard way recently. Food came back up as I was driving....I was not ready for that. I have been on stomach meds forever. Lots of heartburn & reflux.
