  1. Listen to what Jean says. She is the voice of experience. Call your doctor and tell him everything.
  2. sounds like you have a good doctor. I havent been for my first fill yet. Am waiting for the 6 wk mark.
  3. I am being banded on Friday and I found reading your post to be very helpful and inspiring!
  4. I have 3 weeks to go and I started getting sick last week. I think it has finally run its course and I am starting to feel better. I have the exact same concerns that you do.
  5. Congrats on your date! Let us know how it goes.
  6. Welcome! I am waiting for my surgery as well. It is booked for October 19th. I am very excited to start my new journey too.
  7. Surgery seems so far away at this point. I am going to stop any more research and just concentrate on getting as healthy and fit as I can before being banded. My mind right now is very tired from everything I have read leading up to my decision...lol I am hoping the time will fly by. I talked to the owner of my gym today and told her I was having an operation to repair an hiatal hernia. Didnt really want her to know about my band .(I am only telling my family and maybe a close friend.) The owner said when the time comes I can postpone my personal training sessions until I am ready to go back to them. She also said I could postpone my gym membership as well but I told her I was still going to come in and use the treadmill and maybe the eliptical. I know we can walk after surgery so I want to use the treadmill as much as possible so I dont slip into the habit of not wanting to go to the gym. Of course I will listen to my body and wont push myself to the point of exhaustion. Just dont want to get out of my routine.
  8. thanks for the replies! I have decided to go with the vanilla and use my own flavourings - thanks ddrobins! I am allergic to caffeine and so to many chocolate shakes just might do me in..lol
  9. which flavor did you use? I am hoping the vanilla tastes ok.
  10. I just found out that I will be using Slim Time shakes for pre and post op diet. Is anyone familiar with this brand? I see they have chocolate and vanilla shakes. Lynn
  11. Happy to hear you are both doing well!
  12. Got approved for financing today and booked my surgery date!! It is October 19th! Will still be able do the 5km with my sister and daughter on Thanksgiving weekend in October! Canadian Thanksgiving is the weekend of the 8th of October this year. Lynn
  13. 3.5 lbs a week is better than average! Congrats!
  14. Awesome! Wish you lots of luck on your journey!
  15. wow, never thought of it that way!
  16. Love to read stories like yours! I am not banded yet but seeing how well people like you are doing is very inspiring to me!
  17. My husband is checking with his health ins.co. but I am not holding my breath. Would be nice if they paid a little towards the surgery but I doubt it. OHIP has to get into this century and realize how much cheaper it will be in the long run to pay for lap band rather than gastric bypass.
  18. You guys are right! I shouldnt procrastinate. I have decided to book as soon as I get the financing arranged. I know they are booking into September right now so it may be as soon as October!
  19. I am 61 and will be having lap band surgery later this fall. Just wish I had of done it last year when I first started researching but I chickened out and wasted a whole year. Lynn
  20. oops! I think I posted in the wrong forum...lol oh well, my success story is that I have been successful in deciding to get the lap band...lol Lynn
  21. This is my story! I have a bmi of 48 , take pills for high blood pressure and for my stomach . I had my consultation with Dr. Cobourn in Toronto exactly one year ago. At the time I was aprehensive about the operation and decided I really couldnt afford it. So I joined a gym in March, hired a personal trainer and am getting stronger but the pounds are coming off at a snails pace. Frustrating to say the least. Have lost only 20 lbs since November. My doctor referred me for gastric bypass surgery and in May I went for my orientation. What they had to say, and what has to be done to your body scared the heck out of me. So here I am 1 year later and have decided to go for the lap band. My biggest problem is portion control and lap band seems to be the perfect tool for me. Hope to get the financing in place so I can have the surgery done in November. I want to wait until after my nephews wedding. He is marrying a beautiful Portuguese girl and the food will be plenty. It will be my last blow out so to speak. Looking for lots of support on this forum and cant wait to be one of the bandsters! Lynn
  22. I am in Ontario and will be paying $16,000. out of pocket. Still, I am worth it!
  23. I havent been banded yet but from all the research I have done, I dont think you should be vomiting at all. Have you contacted your doctor?
