I booked my surgery with Dr Alberto Aceves for January 7, 2013. My best friend had him and loved him. I am so excited that Jan seems like an eternity away. Anybody else have dr Aceves? I would love to hear about your experiment. Thanks.

I was banded in August 2010. The day of surgery, I weighed 217lbs. As of today, I weigh 217lbs. I've had no weight loss whatsoever. I've had 3 fills and am now up to 6.5cc of a 10cc band. I haven't found anyone who has had the band and not lost weight, only some who have had minimal weight loss. By now, I thought I'd be 25lbs lighter, at least. I'm very discouraged and depressed and wishing I would have just had gastric bypass. The latest fill I had gives me so much restriction that I can barely eat solid foods. I can only eat soft foods like mashed potatoes or chili, etc. Is this the way it's supposed to be? When I decided to get Lap Band, I thought I'd be able to eat ev…

My husband had surgery today and he is still in the hospital but seems to be in so much pain. I found this site in search of support for him / Things I can do to make the transition a bit easier on him. I'm a "high metabolism" women with 2 children... I do try to cook healthy but we still enjoy our share of poor food choices. The kids are aware of this new journey we will be making with Dad to make all our lives healthier but I don't know where to start... There's ice cream in the fridge, chips in the pantry... Do I rid the house of all these temptations before he arrives home from the hospital. I'm very happy he made this choice however the thought of family dinners... …

Hi all, I was banded July 27,2012 and have lost close to 50lbs. All is going well but I do notice slight discomfort on my port side. It comes and goes but I realize if I sit for a long time with my body kind of twisted towards the band, it cause discomfort. The port site looks fine and no pain to touch or warm. Is it still healing internally? Oh and I have no issues eating; it all goes down well. Th

I'm so sad and so disappointed. I have done SO well ive lost 128lbs and feel great but noticed I could start eating a lot more then I could before but thought since I'm two years out maybe I need a fill after not having one for 1 1/2 years. When I went in they recommend I get a upper gi to make sure I'm ok. Well I have a bad slip and have to remove the fluid Monday and have to have surgery to fix it. Please someone who has had this hasn't gained much and has been ok after tell me it will be ok

That's a full size dinner plate for size reference. each slice is about 2"x4" It just looked so delicious I had to get an up close shot of it with the toppings And here is a picture of the crust, it looks and tastes just like regular crust, except its truly HEALTHY. Hey guys! So I made pizza from scratch today and I was so excited I just had to share it with you. I used cheese sticks" to pizza, I did add more cheese and I added turkey pepperoni for an extra bit of Protein. You literally cannot tell the difference between this and another thin crust and It's sooooooooo good. And extremely filling. my changes: -- Added cheese to make it 1 full cup of cheese (…

I have a 4yr old daughter and for Christmas she had got me a "mommy and me" necklace. i love it so much but was heartbroken when I had to tell her that it wouldnt fit around my neck. She was a little dissappointed but I told her I would put in a special place till I could wear it. Well today getting her ready for pre-school she asked me to wear the necklace she got me. i was nervouse about trying it on but IT FIT!!!! She was so excited that i was wearing it to work and it is the first thing since being banded that I have noticed about myself changing. She was so happy and kept telling me to show everyone and to let them know she got it for her mommy! I was banded 12/…

More good news about the effectiveness of the band. Take note that this study specifically targeted people who followed the band rules, followed up with their doctors, and changed their lifestyles to healthy ones. Also note only 5% had to have their bands removed and weight loss was comparable to Gastric Bypass. Further proof we are responsible for our own success or failure with the band. ________________________________________________________________________________ MONASH U. (AUS) — Gastric banding is safe and effective for managing obesity long-term, according to a study of patients 10 to 15 years after their surgeries. The study, the longest and most co…

You've been through a lot before even getting to this point. There's so much ahead of you, too. What are your fears about your pending lifestyle change? What are your expectations about how this is going to change you - your life - your family and friends? Your job? What are your goals in getting this surgery? Is it to lose a number of pounds, or co-morbidities, or get to a certain size?

So today, I had my 2nd fill. Prior to today, I was at 4.5cc which sounds normal. 2.5cc at surgery, 2cc added on first fill five weeks ago. I told the nurse for the last three weeks, I had issues keeping food down occasionally. During the fill, she extracted the saline and found 7cc in my band. She said omg you shouldn't have 7cc at this point. I said the doctor said 4.5 and now you say 7cc, and yep it was, she showed me. I only got .5cc today. Anyone had this happen? I thought 7cc would be close to my sweet spot in a 10 cc band, but it's not even close this past month. She did confirm, that's why I had issues keeping food down, as I was way to tight, but jus…

My surgeon requires a 4 day hospital stay. idk why, but they seem to do things differently here in Europe. I know that my friend who also has her LB surgery here stayed 4 days. She was glad for the stay (she used it as a break from her 4 kids!) but I think I'm going to go crazy for 4 days (& they don't have WIFI in the hosptial...ugh! When I was in the US, I stayed a week when I had my spleen removed 8 yrs ago, but gosh!

I had an egg with some cream of wheat yesterday for breakfast, by the time I had only eaten a little bit, the food was cold.. how can you eat as slow as they want you to and keep your food warm? My nutritionist says to take 1 minute between bites.. well, your food is stone cold by the time you have eaten a little bit..I hate to keep re-warming my food everytime I eat.. what has everyone else done.. I start regular foods in a few days and I am not sure how that is going to work ... I had chili yesterday for lunch and it was stone cold in a few minutes.. yuk....

Sorry boys, but this is girl talk.... Stats: Age- 32 Banded- 6/22/12 Starting Weight- 244 @ surgery Lowest seen- 193 (Last Friday 2/1/12) Ok, I have been on birth control for a little over 2 years, which is after my 3rd miscarriage. I haven't had a period since surgery, just spotting when I am suppose to and that is been very little. My doctor told me since I have been on this type of pill so long it's normal not to have a period. However, when I get to the white pill part of my pack when I am suppose to have my cycle my weight seems to jump up, like I am retaining Water. Last Friday and Saturday I was in the 193's. By Monday I had jumped up to 198, today…
