I found this recipe for pattypan squash and I think it is a great substitute for mash potatoes. Ingredients 2 pounds pattypan squash, cleaned 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 2 tablespoons chopped onion 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 cup milk 1 cup soft breadcrumbs 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted Preparation Cook squash, covered, in boiling salted Water 20 minutes or until tender. 3. I am recently banded 8/6. I am trying to figure out what exactly restriction feels like. Do you feel the fluid ( I am on liquids still) go through? Or when you drink too much at a time it kinda hurts in the breastbone? I also have a lot of gurgling in my stomach and colon. Gas pain. I named my band Tony because it sounds like I have a tiger in my belly. Anyway if someone could give me some idea of what it feels like for them I'd really appreciate it. Thanks you guys are awesome.

So I am 5 days away from my 5 month surgiversary. I'm down 62lbs, and feeling great! BUT, I am finding myself over eating, and KNOWING that I'm doing it. I have somehow quit paying attention to the amount of times I chew my food, the size of my bites, and I'm finding myself scarfing my food down. I need to break this cycle, and quick. Would love some pep talk from fellow banders!

Ok so I was picking up my daughter from daycare and speaking to a lady friend there about the lap band surgery and someone who had overheard the conversation decided to chime in and tell me how dangerous the lap band is and that there's a big risk of internal bleeding and blah blah blah... I just need to keep my mouth shut because other peoples opinions really bother me. The lady who put it into my conversation was thinner than a toothpick and had not had lap band or any of the weight loss surgery herself so I'm not sure she was qualified to advise me either way. I'm already pretty emotional trying to mentally and physically get ready for this surgery and comments like th…

  10. I read on the internet that there have been some scientific studies done and backed up by the American Diabetes Association that Conjugated Linoleic Acid in a 3.4 gram daily dosage is beneficial to helping lipid levels in obese and diabetes patients. More info I gathered also indicated that this nutritional supplement will assist patients from putting on abdominal fat in conjunction of course with good nutrition and exercise. Another benefit - it keeps ones small fat cells from turning into BIG ones. Awesome if it is all valid information. Now, after having been on this conjugated linoleic acid for 5 days, I can honestly tell you that I no longer have cravings for ch…

I'm dying for a smoothie from tropical smoothie and I can add weigh and get sugar free. I can't stand these protein shakes anymore and while I can eat mushie foods I just really want something refreshing like that. I'm 7 days post op.

Hi All, Surgery date is August 15, 2013 (next week). I have Barretts on first endoscopy biopsy and not on second endoscopy biopsy so it's not so prevalent throughout. Surgeon seems unconcerned. Says he has banded numerous patients with Barretts. Anyone else here banded with Barretts? Seems it is contra-indicated depending on what and where you read. Thanks, Mike

The smell of the food, the crunching of it and noise of the bag is enough to put me over the edge. The really messed up thing is I have told very Few people about what I am doing and she is one of them. So it feels like a total punch in the face! http://journalofachunkyprincess.blogspot.com/

Do any ladies have thoughts or experience regarding how soon after having a baby you got a fill if you were breastfeeding? I don't want my supply to dry up or lessen (I'm already not producing enough milk) but I am itching to get a fill and start getting this weight off! Nurse said, yes it can affect the band, so just thought I'd pass this info on!

Is this common especially during the first few fills??....I know they did not add much, but right now I don't feel any restriction. I'm not good with wraps either. They get stuck. Any ideas?????

  39. So I went for a consultation a week or so ago. I talked to the doctor and he said in order for me to be approved for the surgery, I have to have a bmi of over 40, or over 35 with comorbidities. Well Im so close to 40, but like 6 lbs away. Ugh so I HAVE to have a comorbidity. Diabetes, nope. High blood pressurre, nope. ( actually is a little too good) So im left with sleep apnea or high cholesterol. I go for sleep apnea the end of august. I hope something shows up cause Im in desperate need of this surgery. If i Dont, im gonna need to manipulate my blood test to show high cholesterol. Any tips? I know this is bad, but Im desperate.

Had my first fill yesterday and to my surprise when the surgeon went to access my port he actually aspirated roughly 7 cc of Fluid from the port site....(my poor husband said he internally freaked out)! I know this is not uncommon after surgery, especially when no drains are used, occasionally the body just doesn't reabsorb all the drainage. All is well, no fever; the site has no s/s of infection. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I have only had one fill and have lost 66 pounds, currently, I am hungry all the time. I have a Dr appt next week to discuss fill#2.. From what I have read it takes 3 or 4 fills before you hit the green zone. Is it TRUE ? Is there really such a thing as the "green zone"? And, for those of you that have experienced it, how long did it remain? After I eat, I could set clock to my 2 hour hunger pains that follow. What I want from a "green zone" is not to be obsessed with food. Like I felt when I first had the surgery. Please give me hope...

It all happened when I got a fill after the 4th of July. I got my first fill 2 weeks ago. 3cc's. I've heard, including from my Dr, that after a couple of weeks, I could possibly be eating more to be satisfied and feeling hungrier earlier (not in the green zone). At 2 weeks after that fill, I'm very happy with my fill and my "restriction" (I know the difference...just using the word for conversation). My question is, how long before you started noticing you need more of a fill? People have told me that I'm going to need NUMEROUS fills but I'm smart enough to know every one is different. Just want to know how it was for YOU.....YES. YOU!!!!!
