Hey everyone! I got banded July 3rd and I lost 16 pounds. But now I'm stuck! I've been at 16 pounds lost for the past 5 days! I van finally eat food tomorrow! I thought I would lose much more and it's discouraging to see the scale stay in the same place. Did anyone else experience this?

I had my lapband placed in Feb 2007, for the past week and a half i have the tight feeling pretty much all day. liquids do go down but they gurgle with each swallow. I am in no pain, and I am not tight, last summer i had some Fluid taken out, and my band has never been constantly too tight. I have started a new job and cant really take time off, unless there is a real emergency to get an adjustment until after August. But I do have an appointment on Aug 15, I have to travel to Chicago to my doctor and am self pay at this time. I guess my question is, should I just make sure I am getting enough liquids in and some food, and wait and see. I have had this before, …

I do not love Greek yogurt. I wish I did but I don't. I did just discover Chobani bites tho - come in a 4 pack and they are 3.5oz which feels like a great size for me. 100 cals, 10g protein and low in sugar. Decadent flavors. Highly recommend!

My doctor submitted my documentation on Friday 6/28/13 to the insurance. I called my insurance that Tuesday to see if they received it and they said they hadn't and that I should call back when it's been 7 days after the submission.. so I called back Friday they still hadn't got it.. I called back 7/9 nope still hadn't got it... I called today " yes ma'am we received it on 6/28/13 as a fax and you was approved on 7/1/13..... This really made me mad that they didn't tell me before but never the less I'm super excited to get my band!

Any suggestions for Breakfast, other than the typical eggs and Greek yogurt? I was banded on 5/8/13 and haven't had much restriction until now. I was eating less, but didn't have any issues with what I ate or how large my bites were. Well this morning, my first solid meal after my fill, I had my typical light English Muffin with 1 T Peanut Butter and I learned QUICKLY what being stuck feels like. I'm not sure if the culprit was the English Muffin or the size of my bites but I'm not will to find out! I get sick of eggs quickly and would love suggestions. :-)

Hi All, Last Sunday I experienced a sharp pain in my chest. I suspect its band related because I've been to the ER twice and EKGs are normal and I have no other symptoms of heart problems...vitals all great etc. I was originally banded 12/05/06 in NE. I moved to FL 3yrs ago and have had a terrible time finding a lapband DR that would take me, if they did it would cost $400 out of pocket, which I just don't have. I have, however, made an appt with my Dr that installed the lapband since I will be visiting NE on vacation. With all that said I have 10 more days to wait until I find out whats going on and this is driving me to anxiety/panic attacks. Has any vet had this…

Had my 4th fill yesterday, it's hot here and I attempted to guzzle some water. Quickly realized that was a bad move, felt stuck. It stayed down but I felt uncomfortable. This is the first time I've been unable to drink freely. In addition, I haven't been able to drink too much today. Tried a Naked drink and it was so hard to get it down. Am I finally at good restriction? Or am I too tight? I was able to get down small amounts of ice and water.

hello, I had my surgery 19 months ago (to the day actually), and yes I am a slow loser, but am not going up and do continue to lose, albeit slowly, I have lost about 42lbs since surgery and have gone from a BMI of 47 down to 41. and here is my question: I hardly ever drink booze, I maybe imbibe once or twice a year and try to take very good care of my stomach. but thursday night was one of those nights where I decided to break that personal rule.In addition I did everything else that is ill advised if you want to reduce your chances of feeling like death in the am. I had not eaten anything since about 6:30=empty pouch. I did not drink Water in between drinks. Then fro…

I have to have a colonoscopy next Friday and my lap band surgeon who is a gen. surgeon also is going to do it, anyway, I am so dreading it, not the procedure, the prep! He has me drinking 2 bottles of mag. citrate, yuck, I mean I gag on the stuff like that. I litterally have a hard time drinking stuff like that, even brushing my teeth gags me and sometimes I throw up doing that, my gag reflex is sensitive. Plus 4 tabs of Dulcolax. Can anyone suggest how to make the mag citrate go down any easier? Also what flavors does it come in, all I know is lemon and I can't have any red or grape. And I thought a 2 week pre op diet was bad, huh, this will suck. This will be my …

http://healthland.ti...etic/?hpt=hp_t3 New Genes IDd in Obesity: How Much of Weight is Genetic? By Alexandra Sifferlin @acsifferlin July 19, 2013 Two studies zero in on DNA-based drivers of weight. Is obesity written in our genes? In two separate papers, published in the journal Science and in the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI), researchers describe new genetic factors that could explain weight gain in some people. In the Science study, researchers at Boston Children’s Hospital studying mice found a rare genetic mutation that prevented the animals from burning off fat calories. They also found the same gene was mutated in a group of obese people. An…

As of yesterday, I had 4.9 cc's in my 10cc band and have not done as I should in the past 6 months. I went in for a fill which put me between 5.1 and 5.5 cc (because some of the fluid leaked out). My concern is I have never had any problems with being stuck or vomiting in the year I have been banded. I was able to eat some soup twice earlier in the day and about 20 oz of water. Later in the evening I was not able to take down protein shake or water. Should I give it another day to see if my band adjusts to be able to eat or should I call to schedule an unfill? Thanks for all responses.

I had lapband surgery in September 2008. I lost over 80 lbs but I haven't had a fill in several years yet I get stuck from baby carrots w/ranch. If I eat anything after that it just builds up the amount that I eventually throw up and it's a major ordeal. My eyeballs feel as though they're going to pop out of my head my throat hurts and the area of my band hurts. This is why people will eat around the band, to prevent this violent throwing up. Has anyone else experienced this to the point of band removal? How did you recover after the removal? Do they remove both the band and port? Would you recommend removal? I am strongly considering it.

Suddenly, my band tightened. Self diagnosed, I went to a clear liquid diet. It did not help, it became more uncomfortable and I could not get water down. I was also having regurgitation in my sleep. It was very unpleasant. I had an emergency appointment to relieve the pressure in my band. Immediately I felt relief. It took a few weeks for the reflux to subside. However, it did. My appetite never increased, nor did I regain any weight. I see many members suffering from "tightness", yet sacred to have any fluid removed in fear they will regain. I just want to confirm that a decrease in fluid from the band doesn't mean weight gain will occur. I remained in the "green zone".…

During my 5 day preop diet, I lost 11 pounds. A week after surgery, I lost 5 pounds. During this time, I got my first fill of 1.5 cc. It's been two weeks and NO weight loss! Today, the doctor added 2.5 cc and now I'm at 4.0 cc. I am praying that with this second fill I would stop being hungry and start losing some weight.

I am excited to have a lap band on July 22, 2013, one month before my 63rd birthday! I am a survivor of the diet wars; I've tried everything including fasting as a teenager (all I did was faint at the zoo on a hot day. I've done Weight Watchers, Diet Center, my own invented diets. It goes on and on. Hopefully, this will be something that will take the excess weight off of me for my senior years. Already the diseases of obesity are creeping up on me: high blood sugar, diabetes, sleep apnea, lack of energy. I look to all of you for hope and encouragement! Of course, I want to be a source of that myself.

I am feeling very overwhelmed. My last fill was pretty tight and I lost about 6 lbs the first week. After the first two or so weeks my restriction lessened quite a bit. My problem is, I ended up having SEVERE GERD. Just swallowing Water burned. So I went to a Gastro Dr. and he did an Endoscopy. Thankfully my results came back normal, but he was quite concerned because he saw no evidence of me having any restriction. He said he knows I am banded only because I told him so. He wants me to go back to my surgeon because he is worried that I may have a leak. I have an appt. next week with my surgeon. So my question is, does anyone know any information on Lapband leaks? I pai…

I've been banded for well over a year now, and all of a sudden I started getting acid reflux. This happens mostly at night (I wake up suddenly and feel like I'm gonna puke). I've got good restriction with no problems, and haven't had any adjustments for at least 6 months. Has this happend to anyone else? If so, what did you do?

I'm 2.5 months post op and have experienced what I think is heart burn 3 times (I never had HB before surgery). After eating, I feel a burning sensation in the middle of my chest that doesn't go away until the next day. Twice it happened after eating breakfast sausage/eggs and once after chicken salad. I've eaten those foods before and didn't have a problem. Is this my band telling me not to eat those foods or have I done damage like dilation or slip? I've never had a stuck/PB/vomit episode. A few times I've had left shoulder pain after eating, but I figure that's from eating a bite or two too much. The heart burn (or whatever) is annoying, but I'm more worried that I've …

I thought I was in the green zone and I didn't get a fill for 3 months. I'm 15 months banded. Then I found that I could eat a little more and was getting hungry in between meals. So I went in May on my 1 yr. and had a a little fill. I was feeling fine a lil tight but not to bad. Now the past 3 weeks I can hardly eat. I don't ever vomit but I do that slimming thing (nasty) and I hurt. I can hardly get my protein in but I weighed today and I have gained 3 lbs. I'm scared to get any taken out but I can't stand not eating or hardly being able to drink my protein shakes. I usually can't eat or drink anything before 2 pm except water. I need advice...

I have been struggling the past two weeks with listening to my body and succumbing to head hunger. Just came back from Disney and was sooo... Excited that I did not have any episodes of getting stuck or making really poor choices. I was not perfect and had a few bites of desserts but overall came back and had not gained. The problem has been since I have been home. Craving salty, crunchy foods, not being able to sleep because I feel hungry ( which results in a snack) and eating too fast or too much ( and that is never good) resulting in vomiting.

I'm a hospice nurse and have recently gone from day shift to nights and my whole world has been turned upside down! I work 12 hour shifts 3-4 days a week and I sit (literally - for the majority of my shift) with patients who are terminally ill. The extent of my "work" is administering medications, turning and repositioning my patients, providing incontinent care, and giving bed baths. However, we all know that doesn't take 12 hours to do. Everyone else's day is my night, so I sleep during the day and then I'm up all night. I've noticed that I'm not losing any more weight (thank God I haven't started gaining) as I rarely have time for exercise anymore. I feel sluggish li…

I got band 6/19/12, but I have only lost 40 lbs with band and 12 lbs before band. I keep going up and down the scale. I'm wondering this is normal? Maybe I'm over filled? I lost count how my CC's I have... I have a friend at work and she has less CC's and doing great. I keep slimming every now and then. What do you recommend? I exercise 4 days a week and eat 1/6 of what I used to eat. Which is not much. I keep thinking this was a mistake. I was 100% sure when I was band and new this was not going to be easy, but brother.... I need guidance!!" PLEASE!

Take boiled chicken, throw it in the food processor add celery, onion, spices, then take 2tbls. Lite mayo and 1/4 cup FF Greek plain yogurt. Mix together to consistency you need or like. Delicious and better than all that mayo! This made my day since I am in the puréed week. Made larger batch to eat tomorrow or 4th of July picnic! Hope you enjoy!

I am almost 1 year post op and sadly I have only lost about 25lbs. I know that the 25lbs lost is because of the diet and exercise efforts that I have put forth. I can't blame life issues or the band not working. Today I can accept responsibility for being where I am. But today I am feeling more motivated and more encouraged and determined than I have in a long time. The only way I can fail is if I chose not to do my part and failure is not an option for me. Yesterday I scrolled through and read some posts and looked at some pictures and it dawned in me. Its not too late to get back on track. I can do this too !!! I have tools. My doctor no longer accepts my insurance so I…

Hi all I hope someone could please help me. I have had my lapband since 2007 - I have had 4 reconstructive surgeries since my first lap band surgery. First was because my port had disconnected from the band, 2nd was for a port flipping and 3rd was the same again and my last surgery was for re-positioning of the port itself from the lower right side of my abdomen to the middle of my chest (between my breasts) and I had a upgraded port inserted (apparently more durable but lighter?) all at the request from my surgeon (I changed surgeons after my 3rd Op). I have not had great results with my band and I regret the surgery 100% although I am not prepared to give up hope just…

How long does banister hell last? I'm about three months in. Other than getting chicken stuck, I don't feel like I have a band. I'm exercising 5 days a week...a lot...but I know I'm eating too much. If I could dirt successfully without help, I wouldn't have gotten the band. Is this feeling of hopelessness normal? Does the green zone really change things that dramatically? Help!!

I just tried to eat some mush & the stuck intergestion feeling came back. Am I still stuck or just swollen? Anyone have any ideas? Maybe just swollen?

I have started coughing at night . Have acid reflex at night . Especially if I eat to late at night . Not vomiting , but not getting a lot of sleep . Is it possible that when I had a upper respiratory infection a few months ago , and had the most awful coughing I tore the hernia repair open and that is what is allowing all this to occur . I have had my band for over a year , and haven't had any problems with it at all.
