Getting banded Monday .... Looking for people in my area to chat with.

  2. I've been lurking for a few weeks and finally joined just now. So, hello! I'm being banded on Thursday! My surgeon requires a 10-day liquid diet prior to surgery. It's been so hard, but I'm doing it. I've already lost 14 lbs during this liquid diet phase. My clothes are already getting loose and it's very encouraging. I haven't told many people IRL about choosing this path for myself. I'm really not ready to talk about it and don't know I'll ever be. Only my immediate family and my BFF know. I'll be turning here to talk with others going through the same thing. I look forward to getting to know you!

Went in Thursday hoping to get a fill. But upon doing the X-ray drinking that stuff. My Dr. Says he's worried about my band there could be some slippage. So, he had to remove 2cc's. So, he had grilled me before about eating right, but didn't say much after this discovery, just to come back in two weeks. I've researched & read about it. I didn't have any of the symptoms for slippage. So I'm praying it will resolve itself. He made the comment about dilation. Hoping it was just irritated. I'm going to do mostly liquid and soft foods. So any feed back would be helpful.

For me, so much of weight loss and control is mental. Well I figured out a silly little trick to help me mentally. I had spaghetti for dinner for the first time post op. So I go to weigh out a serving of whole grain spaghetti. 2 ounces seems like such a small amount. However, if I switch the units over to grams, I get to have 56 grams! 56 is so much more than 2! I know it's stupid, but it really made me happy.

  7. So it's been nearly 10 months since my lap band surgery. 3 weeks after having my lap band surgery I went back to old habits; not working out, compulsive eating, eating unhealthy. I want to start my journey where I left off, but don't want to have surgery again. I heard that emptying my lap band completely to let my pouch go back to normal size could work but I'm afraid it's too late considering its almost been 10 months... Can someone please help me and let me know there opinions, suggestions???

  9. My brother was planning to come for my surgery on July 1st, but now has an abscessed tooth causing him a tremendous amount of pain! He went for part 1 of the root canal today and will have to have parts 2 & 3 next week, so won't be here for my surgery. I am really alright with that, as I have others who have volunteered to be available for taking me to the hospital, checking on me, helping out, etc., since I live alone. I am mostly looking forward to just being in my house, my own space, and reaching out, as needed. My dogs will require me to get up and move around to take care of them, as since they are small, their care is not too taxing! My question is about t…

  11. Well I just joined the group today, so hi!! I didn't notice any very recent posts but thought I would and see if anyone is out there. I had my 2nd fill today..surgery was June 6. All of my weight loss so far was basically from my pre op diet...which has been a little discouraging though I know it's my doing I had my first fill around June 15, about two weeks after surgery. It was still harder to eat at that point but it didn't seem to take long to at "around" the band...which is bad. I need the restriction and really thought it would BE more restrictive than it has been so far. I have read several posts on here that during the 4-6 week period other people have experie…

I went on a 5 week vaca and am up 4 pounds since my last fill! I think I'm to anxious but my first 30 pounds came off so quick and easy my goal is to lose 75 more pounds. I workout daily and not just walking but running and lifting. Anyone with some suggestions and/or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! #feelingfrusterated!

Hello, I am looking for someone to mentor me on this journey to successful weight loss. Currently I am in the Pre-Pre op phase in which I am on a diet of protein shakes in the morning and lunch and then a lean protein and dark green veggie for dinner. 2 weeks before the surgery I will only be able to have 3 protein shakes a day and no snacking. I do not have a surgery date yet as I am waiting for the surgeon to review all of my completed pre-op stuff. I suspect, my surgery will be sometime in August. I am struggling a bit with my diet but some aspects of it I'm ok. Anyway, I am always encouraged by what I read about others and I would like to have someone walk with me …

I've had such frustration with the lack of info from TR but I'm finally getting the "big picture". I'm happy now, but really wish I'd had everything before, or at least at my surgery date. Down almost 60 pounds since May28 and finally have direction on calories, Protein etc. Honestly I could feel some of my old ways slipping in the last couple of weeks because even after my first fill I truly don't feel as if I've had anything done. I realized I could eat anything I want, as fast as I want, as frequently as I want. Not a good thing for a food addict to learn. Glad I called and got the council before I went down the slippery slope that I'm sure we are all familiar wi…

I can't believe that a few years ago I couldn't see a future. I was very ill, hypertension,per-diabetic,bone issues and my back was hurting constantly. There was days when I couldn't get out of bed, my friends and family would visit me at my bedside. I would get pajamas for presents. I got fitted for orthopedic shoes and had braces on my legs and at one point I had to have cast on both legs. Things didn't look good cause after all this I was diagnosed with COPD, a chronic lung disease. I was in and out of hospitals on a monthly basis, then it happened, most of my illness was weight related at a weight of 283, I knew something had to happen. I got approved for WLS, the lap…

I feel some soreness and some tightness at the breast bone. I'm not having any problems with Fluid or food intake and keeping it down. I am noticing I have to eat a lot slower than before. Is this ok? Does that feeling go away in time? Any advice or feedback from those of you with more experience on what to expect would be great. BellaNana, Sent from my HTCONE using LapBandTalk

I had lost four pounds but now I gained that four plus one, besides the fact that I have been working out and barely can drink the Protein shakes and nibbling on Protein Bars. I don't know what's going on, I feel like I will never lose any weight! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Well today was my first fill and it didn't go so well.. Dr. added the saline and had me sip on water in the waiting room, well this pain in my throat and chest was horrible!! She had to remove some saline Salisbury I had to vomit to get the water out. We did this 3 times so yes, I got three sticks, which I hate needles. Then I had to get x-rays, finally she just removed all of the saline and put me back on liquids for one week and soft foods for one week.. I hope this gets better but I am excited about being able to get back to my exercise routine......I miss workouts so let's hope my next fill will be better..

Hi everyone, I just got the new Prevention in the mail and they had an article about adult acne. I am almost 63 and still get the occasional pimple. In the article it talked about too much milk and the sugars in milk. I have a protein shake every morning with 8 oz of fat free Lactaid milk. I then investigated other milks and coconut milk has no sugar and only 45 calories. Has anyone used coconut milk in their shakes? I also looked at almond milk but it does have some sugar. Anyone use this? Thank you for the advise. Maybe one day I will just have wrinkles and no more pimples. Which is worse? Arlene aka "Eye Candy"

It will be 5 years in August since my surgery, no complication until last week. Started with a horrible cough and throwing up only at night. Felt fine during the day, and was still able to keep food down. I have not gotten my band tightened in I don't know how long. In know they say that is a sign if a slip or band is to tight. Saw my doctor yesterday, he unfilled me all the way, and guess what no coughing or vomitting! I have not slept that well in weeks. So he ordered a GI for Tuesday to see what is going on. Keeping my fingers crossed it has not slipped.

It has been ten years since several of us at Spotlight Health whined and moaned that the boards were dominated by RnY people and Alex said, "Is that all you want? Your own board?" And, ten years later, Alex's board is thriving and Spotlight is long gone. Speaking of long gone... I was an early LapBand patient, 2002. The band had just been approved in the US, but my local doctor in Newport Beach, CA, had done a whole 30 or so. That's why I went to Roberto Rumbaut in Monterrey, Mexico.
