  1. A new friend on here and I met up locally and of course we hit it off, she's the best. It's great to have found someone to share this journey with along the way. Anyway she told me about a protein powder she uses and today I went to GNC and got me some and OMG I LOVE IT!!!!! I am plugging in my meals on MFP and only getting about 40 grms of protein and losing hair big time so I needed to up the protein. Tonight I fixed a shake and it was soooo good. It's GNC's brand Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 and I got the chocolate flavor powder. I used 1 scoop instead of the 3 scoops it called for because I was making 1 serving of 8 oz in my bullet and used light vanilla soy mi…

Hey Guys. I am so happy to say that since February I have lost my first 50 lbs, no 49, no 47, no 50. Well close enough. Well since school has been out, I have continued exercising and following my lapband rules. I am in the green zone and that is great. Buts the scale is no longer moving. Its been about 4-5 weeks with up and down the same 2 pounds. Seriously people, I was so excited to be in a 12-14 by August and now I know that is not going to happen. I eat about 1000 calories per day. What are some tips you guys have to get things moving again. I would be great to average 1 pound a week at this rate. At least it would be something. Thanks for your help!!

Taking eating the egg and crab slowly, taking time in between bites and chewing. I am meeting friends for lunch and have a wedding later, but I am set on protein only.

Ok girls and guys I have a question. I had my first fill on Wednesday. I had 3cc in the bad after surgery and they tried to get my up to five on Wednesday but when I drank water I can fill the gurgle in my chest. I take it that it was not going down as it should. I ended up getting only .5 cc. Weight loss started back however everything is still going down sooo easy it seems to me. Is this normal? Has anyone every experience this? I was told at the doctors office that sometimes when one gets fills it can irritate the stomach the first few times. Can anyone shed some light on this situation. Thanks in advance

Hello fellow lapbanders! I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of the weightloss "drug" Ace? I'm not a fan of weightloss pills in the slightest, but I have heard this is a natural way to assist in the body burning fat. A friend mentioned it to me yesterday and said that she has dropped 2-3 dress sizes since the summer has started when she began taking Ace. I googled it and didn't really find any detailed information on this product as far as if it's an appetite suppressant or just a Vitamin type thing. I'm hoping she isn't taking anything that would harm her body. Any info anyone has on it would be great to hear for research's sake. Thanks!

I am looking for a mentor as I am just starting the process to get banded. Right now I am waiting to get a call to schedule my first consultation with the surgeon. I currently weigh around 275 and at my highest I was 292 and my goal is to get down to 150 but that goal may change once I meet with the surgeon. I am ready to get my life back on track and started up again, from reading these forums it is a life changing experience and it is not a walk in the park. I went back 3 days later because I could barely keep liquids down and now I'm at 3cc. I'm told everyone is different, some can have 7cc and some are fine at 2cc. Input please...

I am on day 3 of the pouch reset. I ate cottage cheese for breakfast, white blended beans for lunch with cheese, tuna with mayo and blended chili with cheese for dinner. I was out at a lake today and needed a little snack since I was feeling really out of it so I had a small package of unsalted nuts. I made sure to chew very carefully to a paste consistency. I had my water also. I do feel fuller faster but I guess I will know tomorrow when I have the ground meat. I feel pretty good today and not as hungry for some reason.

Banded in December of 2012... I had my first fill in March 2013, and this week I had my fourth fill. What a difference! I'm not sure if my system needs to adjust a bit, but for the first time I am having problems with some foods. Salads cause discomfort... and I only need to eat about 1/2 of the amount of food I was eating previously to feel stuffed. I may have to go to four meals a day just to keep up my Protein and a minimum amount of calories. Hopefully this will get me off the plateau I've been stuck at for the past month. I can really feel the band working. What a different feeling.

I'm a little sad. I'm 6 week post op and already on a plateau for the past 2 weeks (so since week 4). I upped my calories from 900 to 1200 in the last few days because of the whole starvation mode - I recall reading too low cals could be the reason. I don't know how convinced I am about that though because to lose a pound it's calories in vs calories out and I'm expending way more that I take in. I religiously log every bite on MFP too so I know exactly what I'm eating and how much. I'm fully healed so I thought I'd be at lighter weight by now. Mary

  25. My A1C at my last visit was 6%. I've since lost about 10 more lbs. I've noticed that I've really been wanting to snack lately even though I'm in the green zone and am not truly hungry. I know it's likely head hunger, BUT I'm wondering if perhaps I'm having a little hypoglycemia with the cravings being my body wanting sugar??? This morning I forgot my Meds, but noticed I had very little hunger and no strong desires to snack all day. When does the doc start decreasing medication for diabetes? I will talk to my doc about it, but I am just wondering what experiences others on this forum have had with this? Thank you all!

I figured about 540 calories daily from protein shakes and broth comes in very cheap @ no more than 10 calories per serving in using bouillon!

So, I am down almost 90lbs Woot Woot! I am heading back to Maryland end of August and really want to try to hit the 100lb mark before my family sees me (Just a goal I would like to achieve) and so I have been hitting the gym 5-6 days a week, and then just switched to hour sessions 3x a week with my trainer. Talk about a butt kicker! With that being said though, I've felt very fatigued (more than I should for the amount of stuff I am doing) and learned that clean eating - the removal of processed foods and refined sugars- can give you energy. Along with the pros of losing weight because you are eating whole foods basically the energy portion is what I'm hoping for as…

Ok...so I've been a bandster since 2008...overall lost 147lbs. I've had 3 fills since then with my last at the end of march this year. I currently have 5.7cc in a 10cc band. After my last fill I could hardly keep anything down for two weeks..I thought I should go for an unfill but I usually swell up pretty bad so I decided to wait it out. It got better..but would still get "tighter" when I was stressed..etc. Lately its been very hot..like almost 100 degree temps..and I've been finding that I am superrr tight where I can barely get any liquids down. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am new to the site and just started a blog. The purpose of my blog is to shed light on the funny side of this lap band journey. I know I have had several comical moments so far. I also believe laughter is the best medicine. One problem, or maybe two. First, I don't know how to get the link to my blog so I can share it with others. Second, I would really like to link up with other members, read and follow their blogs. I only know how to excess the forums right now. So please drop me line, befriend me, teach me about the world of blogging and I will provide comedy relief and friendship.

I am nearly four years out from my original lapband surgery. I have had a few physical problems with my band starting with my port falling seven months after my surgery. Then again three months later. And very slow weight loss. Finally things seemed well and I lost 87 lbs (started out at 249 and got down to 162) after about two years post op. Last summer I had a full abdominoplasty and my weight loss surgeon did that procedure. He fitted me with a new low profile port while he was in there and I kissed him after my surgery because I…

I have lost 65 pounds since banded 12/21/13 (yay!).... But I've been off the wagon for about a month so of course no weight loss. I have 25 more to go and need a good kick in the pants. Part of my problem Is my band is tight and slider foods are easy but junk food of course and we went on vacation week before last. Excuses, excuses... Sounds like the old me. Plus I still need to add exercise... I'm getting saggy (at least my rear) and my hair is still falling out. Waaaa! Okay, time for the pity party to end and get back to basics!

There is fully a 20lbs difference btwn my scale at home (high) and the surgeon's office (low). My doctor's office and nutritionist are in the middle but closer to my scale. I use my scale at home to track loss - but I suspect it shows me weighing more than I actually do - and I think my surgeon's shows less than I actually weigh. Do any of you have this problem? Which weight should I use? My scale at home is a Taylor digital - a few years old. Is there a secret to zeroing it out and getting it accurate?
