I went for my 1st fill appointment on Fri but my surgeon said I didn't need it & I would have to wait. He said that my goal should be 5lbs a month & since I had already lost more than that since my visit 3 weeks ago I couldn't have one. He also said at 5lbs a month, after a year I would be good. That is only 60lbs, I was planning on more like 100 in total. To me 5lbs a month doesn't seem like enough, but I have been known to be impatient lol.

Getting another fill tomorrow. hopefully this will be a lot better last time i don't know how many times the lady poked me and was WAYY off. i'm kind of nervous its been 4 months post op and my port area is still tender is that strange? do you think maybe its infected or am i just worrying too much. I know i have lost about 18 lbs since my last apt so maybe its because my body is changing? Any insight?

Hi my name is Jessie, I am a 27 yr old female from Minnesota. I am an occupational therapy assistant but presently also in school to become an occupational therapist. I am looking for a mentor as I am just starting the process to get banded. I had my first consultation with the surgeon this week and have started to schedule all my appointments for many of the months ahead. I currently weigh around 275 and at my highest I was 292 and my goal is to get down to 150 but that goal may change once I meet with the surgeon. I am ready to get my life back on track and started up again, from reading these forums it is a life changing experience and it is not a walk in the park. I w…

I am on liquids for 48 hrs I hope this throat feeling subsides. I feel like I'm finally on my way again since my weight loss was stalled.

I have fish oil pills that are too large to swallow and the last few chewable ones I tried were fruity with a fishy undertone that makes me sick! Just curious what other options there may be!? Thanks

Just wondering how everyone was doing who got banded in July 2010. What is ur weightloss? What foods do you avoid? What is still your weakness? What can u still eat that u did before the band? What things happen that totally puzzle you? Have you found ways around your band? I was banded July 16, 2010... I have lost 70lbs so far. Foods to avoid: Bread-Noodles- sliced deli meats Ice Cream and Hot Caramel Mocha w/nonfat milk are my total weakness Pretty much anything i haven't mentioned in my foods to avoid. Slime totally puzzles me.. And the Loud from your toes burps. I tell my hubs it just means my pouch just emptied. If I drink something HOT first thin…

Anyone have any feedback on how to deal with friends and/or family that is unsupportive? I've been told that I should be able to lose the weight like a normal person if I tried hard enough, that I'm taking the easy way out, among others. I've stopped sharing with anyone that I'm having surgery except for this site and a couple friends that have had a bariatric procedure.

Got my first fill today. I'm 7 weeks postop. Have 5ccs in my 10 cc band. He put in 2cc today. I felt the restriction when the surgeon was putting in the Fluid and drinking Water but i haven't felt it all evening otherwise. Its it possible that my physical makeup means i don't have the nerves or sensations in my stomach that signals feelings of satiety or being full? Everyone always says that after a fill that they have all this restriction and i really dont feel that different at all. So is it possible that my stomach is broken and it will cause me to never be successful at this?

I'm new to this forum as you can tell by my post count. I have a question. I had lapbanding with plication on May 10th and with my preop diet forward, I've lost 32 lbs. I have not had a fill and have had 2 doctors appts. My last visit I had lost 3.5 lbs in 5 weeks and my doctor said that as long as I was losing he wouldnt do a fill. Problem is, I feel I'm having to work to lose the weight and not sure whether I'm hungrier than I should be or not. I guess I need reassurance that this is not unusual to not receive a fill.

Started avoiding mirrors when I started to put on weight. Not to say I haven't looked at myself in the 4 years just have looked in sections.... my face when I am putting on make up or fixing my hair, from the waist up when I am trying on an outfit... Never naked and never all at once since I started to pack on the pounds. I had my lapband surgery on the 29th of June. This morning I got up and weighed and I have lost 40 pounds in total. Was very excited and so my very supportive and beloved hubby offered to take me shopping f…

I have had my band for a little over 5 years and I am very happy to say I have had success with very little problem. Went from 314-171. I have gained about 17 pounds since December and this is the first weight gain I've experienced since banded. I'm having a few issues. Weight gain because I can eat most anything and more of it, acid reflux, (which my reg doc recently put me on meds) and bloating and gas. I'm just wondering why I can eat greater amounts and bread and other no no foods I couldn't eat before? Can my band have lost Fluid or restriction on its own or could there be another prob? Thanks so much for any advice or words of wisdom!

  28. Hello. I haven't had surgery yet. I just completed all the requirements of my insurance and the dr will submit to insurance this week. I am 5'7 about 238 pounds. My goal is to be 170. I am very excited for the surgery but the only aspect that makes me apprehensive is my hiatal hernia. The doctor told me he would fix that while he was doing to band. Anyone had this done with or without their surgery? Is it very painful? Any other problems you experience due to hiatal hernia repair?

I don't know how to lie (which does backfire at times even though I'm never malicious) so I had to come here and just admit something... I was banded almost 2 weeks ago on May 6 (a Monday). I just turned 21 the week before and I think I am just too young to go through such a life change. I completely (I mean I was eating up until the night before my surgery) FAILED on my 2 week pre-op diet. I was so afraid to let go of the foods I loved and, though I have followed every requirement post surgery (10 days liquids, now on day 3 of mushy/pureed foods), I am just miserable inside. It is very likely when I check the scale in the morning I will have lost 30 lbs, and I am proud…

I love eggs benedict and I wanted to create a lower calorie version. I started with a base of two tomato slices. I removed the peels because I heard they can cause problems for some people. To that I added 2oz of shaved, smoked ham that I pan-seared in a dry skillet until it was slightly caramelized. On top... a perfectly poached egg, and my own Mock Hollandaise Sauce. The sauce is just a tablespoon of light mayo, not quite a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, a teaspoon of lemon juice, and some salt and pepper. I sprinkled some Smoked Paprika on top. I just love it when the yolk is perfectly runny. But not too runny. This is definitely a weekend Breakfast, because it took some t…

I then start to burp non stop, I'm assuming gas build up? I've experimented with many different foods, it happens with almost everything.

  35. Acid reflux: One in four people in the U.S. suffer from acid reflux, but just because it's so common doesn't mean you should ignore it, says Dr. Carson Liu, board-certified surgeon. "Acid reflux can cause heartburn, dental erosion, and asthma-like symptoms when stomach contents are aspirated into the lungs," he says. Plus, it can lead to esophageal cancer. "Popping a few pills doesn't seem like a big deal, so the quick fix is the go-to for the vast majority of people suffering from the condition," he says. This quick fix is only masking the condition. Acid reflux is a progressive disease and becomes wore as the anti-reflux valve in our esophagus deteriorates. Talk to y…

My original dr never would give me a fill when I felt it was needed then after he finally did I really didn't lose anymore weight. I found a new dr who is very thorough. I have had 1 more fill with the new dr and things are ok eating wise, but I am still not losing anymore weight! (Not gaining any thank goodness). I attend Zumba 3/4 days a week, go to the gym and walk a mile or 2 on the treadmill and then lift some weights in the mornings. I don't always eat what I am suppose to, but for the most part I eat small healthy portions. some days I just want to give up and have the band taken …

Ok Guys and Girls, I have another question. I realize I must asked until I really become seasoned like most of you on the banding and fills lol. I lost 9 lbs since the 17th when I got my first fill and stopped. So does it work like that? you get fills weight loss start and when it stops it times for another fill until you hit your green zone? That's what I am getting. Can any of the seasoned bandsters respond and let me know? When I went on the 17th I was only able to get .5cc which I think is nothing I am going back on Wednesday to see if my stomach will allow a little more.

I'm wondering if anyone's having trouble with feeling bloated in the evenings?
