I had my lap band surgery on friday, I'm having pretty severe pain where I think the port is under my skin. Is this normal?

Yes, to an extent it is. I had surgery a little over a month ago and struggled with port site pain for over a week and it gradually got better. It's sore there mainly because you use your stomach muscles so much getting up & down as well as just moving around in general and that port is sewed right into your stomach muscle. I would say as long as you don't have any abnormal redness, heat, swelling or oozing/bleeding, it should be fine in a few days.

I was banded 2 weeks ago and I still have some discomfort in that area but it's getting better. Be sure you tell your doctor at your post op appointment though so he/she can make sure everything is ok.

I was banded 8 weeks ago and still get a sharp pain if I bend wrong which my doc said could be normal for several months out.
