Has anyone on Synthroid had to have their dose lowered due to weight loss? Since I dropped some weight, I noticed being a bit jittery. The only thing I can think of, is that my dose is now too high. I have a call into my doctor, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any issues.

Hi Everyone I am new to this forum but l hope you can help me. I have had my band for 7 years. I have had 2 tubing breakages as well as a port relocation. (We were still getting things right here in Australia l think) In all l havn't had alot of sucess either with only a 15 kg weight loss. Every time l get close to good restriction the reflux starts so l have had to back off. I havn't had a fill for 12 months but over the last few months things have gotten worse. I have been to my surgeon today with my symtoms of coughing and waking in the middle of the night with mouth fulls of vomit. I have had to sleep in a chair but it still happens, tablets don't seem to work. He e…

I was wondering if anyone started with a ton to lose and managed to get to their goal. I have about 300lbs to LOSE before I get to my goal and I'm wondering if anyone has successfully done so when looking at such a huge amount. It's intimidating to me sometimes, and I'm just starting out. I don't want to get discouraged already!

I find it is so hard to find someone who was banded and live in Montreal area. Let me know if you are there and let me know how your journey is going? I was just banded on June 25, 2013 and it was a rough week but is getting better each day. PS I only know English.

HI everyone One year after being banded I came down with some odd symptoms. My surgeon did tests to make sure the band was in the correct position. Since it was, he told me my symptoms were not related to the band and that I would need to see my regular doctor about them. Longer story shorter, these past 2 years I have been researching, having tests done, seeking alternative therapies such as acupuncture and massage. I sometimes get relief from the symptoms. I am now going to see a new bariactric doctor in a different town (we have only 1 bariactric doctor in my town) to talk about options. I plan to get the lap band removed. How is everyone else doing who was banded…

So stopping by Circle K or QT for a Diet Coke was a wonderful pleasure of mine. I have gone "cold turkey" off my Diet Coke and carbonation for that matter. Today I discovered diet green tea Peach flavored! I was starting to worry about going back to work on 8/2 (I'm a teacher) and having no caffeine. I am excited to have this as I often get bad headache that turn to migraines quickly. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

I've been wondering about the green zone since being banded; especially after the first couple of fills. I've been doing very well, but could take small "normal" bites, and gulp Water almost like before. A few weeks after the second fill, I wasn't staying satisfied for a full four hours, and still felt (based on what I read in these forums) that I wasn't quite in the green zone. I went for a fill last Monday, and asked her to give me only .25cc. I was already up to 7, and at this stage, want to make very small adjustments. Though the nurse didn't think I needed it, she agreed to do it. WOW - what a difference!! I've actually had a few hurccups (thanks Mis), and …

Hi all, So I am at the stage where I am getting all my various tests done and meetings with the dietitian start this month. During then next 6 months I thought it may be good to do some reading about what to expect, things to be aware, successes, set backs, etc. Anyone recommend any good books pertaining to Lap Band surgery and life after surgery?

Hi I went in to get my 2nd fill. My first fill was 3 cc with no problem. Today i went in and got another fill. My doctor was gonna out 2 cc but as he was filling me up he said that my band was getting tight and some of the liquid cc was coming back into the needle and could put all 2 cc in it. He eventually just put 1cc. Has that ever happened to anyone? Is that normal? I though my band could hold 11 cc

I had my fill on 8/5/13 & everything went well till last night (8/10/13). I took a 2 bites of a chicken sandwich & 3 fries and I got stuck. I couldn't keep it down so I vomited and the rest of the night I couldn't sleep cause I had a tightness feeling. I've been able to hold down water but I have major indigestion. Am I too tight or just swollen?

I recently had a fill and feel like I'm finally in the green zone, but I have this constant creepy crawly thing going on with my esophagus. I'm not "stuck", because I can get food down, but it feels like there's just a little something that always stays behind and moves up and down my throat. After awhile, it makes me nauseous. I've read about PBing, but don't know if you can do it on purpose.... can you? It is SOOO annoying. The food feels like it's stuck in my upper esophagus most of the time. I can't tell if it's been the same piece of food the whole time, or if the problem keeps happening. I THINK I'm chewing my food well..... but maybe not. Anyone have any tho…

It's been over a year (5/2012) and I'm "only" 40lbs down... And still have a way to go! I would like to lose a minimum of 70lbs more however I'm not seeing that scale move! I get an adjustment like clockwork every 4wks and the scale will go down about 3-5lbs and either stay steady or regain about that much by the time the nxt adj comes around. I feel restricted and my diet primarily consists of salads, soups, yogurt, protein shakes, chili, fresh fish and veggies...every once in awhile I will have some wine or ice cream (again...periodically).. I exercise 3-4x a week for 30-45 min intense tabata, kickboxing, strength training type regimens buuuut collectively it's NOT WORK…

I'm curious: How many cc's did YOU get in your first fill? How many cc's do YOU normally get per fill? I know every doc and every pt is different, just curious to hear. I'll do some math and put up some averages/statistic etc. after enough people have responded. Yes, I'm a bit of a nerd. Thanks in advance!

I have had my third fill today and for the first time I drink just a couple ounces and feel full. I have lost 80 pounds since January and kind of stalled this last month I think this fill will take care of it. I hope to kick it into gear and drop the rest of the weight I need to.

Hi. I need some help. I got my 4th fill last Tuesday, August 6. I got one cc put in my band. I drank fine while at the dr then went home. 5 hours later, I couldn't even swallow my spit. Threw up all nite so I went back to the dr the next day. She took out the cc, I drank fine, and added .5cc. I drank fine. So I went home. On Thursday, I was fine drinking all day until the evening, when once again, nothing went down. So I laid with an ice pack in my belly and finally at 11:20pm it opened up. Woke up fine on Friday morning. Drank fine and introduced mushy food. Only got a few bites then felt full so I stopped. But drank fine. That evening tried to eat watery mashed potatoes…

I had my second fill on Aug 5. I stayed on clear liquids for 2 days, moved to protein shakes which I tolerated. Last night, I was completely stupid, I wasn't hungry - but there was pizza- sitting there and I did, yes I did- I had 3 bites, which I chewed (thought) thoroughly. The pain so intense I t came up like a rocket. Ok, so dumb move . Today I took it easy had a protein shake, then when we were out to dinner, I had a cup of soup - could only tolerate a 1/2 of the cup and could feel that pain start. So I stopped. When I came home I had a yogurt which was ok. Feeling hungry a few minutes ago, made oatmeal (very thin) and had one spoon and that awful pain is back. I s…

Yesterday I made bad choices most of the day. I ate to much for dinner. Had a really bad snack an hour before bed and choose junk 3 separate times during my day. I woke up this morning feeling like crap yet again. Why do I keep doing this to myself. Today is a new day and I am going to try to have a better day then yesterday. I'm down in the dumps.

My surgery date is 8/15 but since being on this site I have become less certain this is what I want to do. I am overweight, BMI of 36, but otherwise no health issues at all. I'm worried that I will go from a "healthy" person to one who is suffering from constant pain, tiredness, gas, acid reflux, esophageal erosion, etc. Seems like everyone has similar complications and complaints. While I'm so glad I found this site, I'm kind of wishing I didn't until after surgery! Ha. I want my kids to have a mom who is active, healthy and thin but not at the expense of being debilitated by other symptoms. Does anyone know if insurance covers band removal or additional surgeries relat…

I keep hearing that with lap band, you lose about 60% of your excess body weight. Is that if you only use the band to control your eating versus adding exercise? I see so many wonderful success stories on these boards that clearly have exceeded 60%!!

I don't think I want people to know when I get banded besides close family that will probably have to help me day of surgery and what not. Has anyone else kept their band a secret from people when people start asking how you losing all your weight? What made you come to the decision to keep it to yourself and has it been easy to keep quiet?

I went to the nutritionist today and i feel like eating. She did nothing To help me at all. I sat down and told her that o need someone to kick my butt. She told me everything I knew already and nothing that can really help me. I am so disappointed. I was really hoping to have her give me some pointers that I can do that I have forgotten over the past 4 years related to band life. She asked if I had the my fitness pal with me and I did but did not ask to look at it. Then I felt like I was being kicked out of her office. I made another appointment for the other one in the same office for August 27th. I hope this visit goes better.

It'll be a year come October that I got banded. I'm only down 60lbs, and still have 80-90lbs to go before my goal weight. Yes I feel a difference and see a difference since last year, but nothing compared to what I was told by Drs and what I was expecting. I hear from my dietician once a month and all she has to say is, "well clearly you're not following things properly" She keeps pushing another fill, but I know I couldn't handle it. I have had only 1 fill and would never go in for another. Some days I find it hard to keep anything down and feel like I should be living off of water and/or liquids but who wants to live like that for the rest of their lives. Other days ev…

Just sharing my thoughts...first time traveling since I got my band just after 2 weeks. Hard to be around everyone snacking! I brought some food but couldn't possibly bring enough for three days so now I have to figure out how to get what I can eat. I didn't drive and I'm visiting my sister who lives out in the country so it's tricky! Not looking for answers just sharing with my fellow bandsters cause I know you'll understand! Going to my nieces wedding reception tonight and that will be another temptation but I'm afraid of straying from my diet so I know I'll behave! Just frustrating.

OMG I cannot believe how horrible the WW boards are to Lap banders!!!! I recently started using WW along with the band and have been seeing amazing results! WW has always been my favorite lifestyle plan so I wanted to combine the two together. I talked it over with my doctor and we adjusted my points to fit my band. I posted a message on the boards saying that I have the band it is the only thing that has helped me to this extent and the combination of the two is amazing. The responses I got where hurtful and uninformed. First they kept comparing me to a Gastric Bypass patient, which I would never want to be due to the complications. That's why I picked the lap band…

So you all were so great yesterday and I could hear you whispering in my ear all day. I did not have a bad day yesterday. I was at about 1000 calories and got a fill. I am not sure my fill was enough but I can get more next tue. That's no problem. I'm doing liquids till fri morning and then I'm going into mushies. I am tracking on my fitness pal (nailpro00) my food and weight again. I'm really looking forward to getting rid of these extra pounds I have gained back.

Hello all. I am almost 4 years post and I do consider myself a success story. I started out at 288 and at one point for a very short time went so to 199. I stabilized at about 205. Today I am 220 and this is not ok. This is not easy for me to type up and admit to someone more then just myself. I need to get back on track. This is not an option. I feel terrible I feel like I look terrible. My body aches and I don't want to move off the sofa. I am not comfortable in my cloths anymore. I sleep so bad and my food choice are not good. I have fallen back into some but to many bad habits. And I need to be held accountable for them. Today I am getting a fill and m…

Just to get this off my chest....it's 3 am and this is just a early morning rant.... It is not my place to say what is right or wrong, different things work for different people....but I am old school....the less calories in, the more you will loose...it's that simple. Why would everyone preach exercising to burn calories? And then turn around and say now you have to eat more? And use the argument / excuse about metabolism levels, etc...does anyone here know how to measure that? I read here everyday about people trying to reach their calorie goals....people saying to eat more to loose more. Personally, myself, I have always found that one humorous...if it were tr…

I've had my lapband for 5 years. It has never worked for me. I lost 24 pounds on the liquid diet and I have managed to keep about 20 of that off. But, I never lost any weight with the band. I've had 13 fills and they kept saying, "Oh they put a large band in you". They finally sent me to the nutritionist who was a 90 pound vegetarian (not sure why she felt the need to tell me that) who was more interested in her phone than me. Her big suggestion after glancing at my diet sheet was to tell me if I get hungry in the afternoon, to have tuna on cucumber slices. Really? $16,000 and that's the advice I get? I left that day feelling like this whole thing was a mistake an…

The only people I've told that I've had lap band is my husband, parents and brother. I don't want to be judged and I certainly don't want your comments. As I was eating lunch today, I got the comment of 'I thought you had Lap band.' 'No kidding, you're really putting it down.' I had egg salad (1 egg, 2egg whites), 1/4 avocado and 1oz Cracker Barrel cheese. Get offs back! I'm cranky, rant over.
