Hey all, I was banded 1/8 and had my first fill today! Doctor put 4 and overall was a quick easy procedure. I told my surgeon I wanted to be 60 pounds lighter by December and if it was possible to get my fills quicker. He didn't hesitate or show any concern so I've been booked in to have my second fill next week then the third the week after and so on. So I'm getting a fill each week. Is this normal? Should I be concerned or happy that they'll be consecutive. Has anyone had their fills done in this way?? I've lost 20 pounds so far. I'm hoping the fills will keep my weight loss consistent

Does anyone use their medical card given by your surgeon at restaurants (buffets)? I haven't been to a buffet in years and just happen to find it in my wallet today. Last time I used it, they gave me a hard time but still gave me the discount any way.

After waiting months, I finally am having people notice my weight loss. It really feels good, getting complements on a regular basis. It was simply annoying hearing from some, who I just know had to notice, "Oh your hair looks cute" when nothing was new to my hair. It's taken 50+ pounds for individuals to notice and compliment. And honestly, it was the family members which were the worst, sadly. I'm feeling good and no one, not a single sole will take that away.

  5. I have had the band for five years. I had a fill about two weeks ago and everything was fine. On sunday morning, I tried to drink water and it would not stay down. Since then nothing will stay down unless I take super small sips of water. I keep throwing everything up, including my medication (I take cymbalta - not keeping it down is causing major problems - I think I am going through withdrawal). The band feels like it is way too tight, something is sitting on my chest, I am light headed and feel terrible. Given I was fine with my fill two weeks ago, do you think there is a chance the band has slipped? I have never had this experience before. I have had the band too tigh…

I was supposed to get my third fill on September 9th, but I rescheduled a week early....September 3rd. I really hope this fill does the "trick" I feel like I can eat anything. I never feel satisfied. However, I stop eating because I know I have to. I have only lost 15 pounds post op and its been two months. Argh!

Last night I was craving ice cream and it came back up. I'm worried that I may have a slip. Anyone else experienced this? Or know what this may be caused by?

  18. I got my 4 th fill on Thursday, it's been 6 months. I haven't lost ant weight in 3 months. The doctor said there wasn't much "pressure" when he inserted the syringe. He put in 1 cc. Since then, I have only been able to very slowly take in clear broth, vitamin water zero (took me almost an hour to keep down 16+ oz). I tried a smoothie this morning and its taken me almost an hour and a half to take in 16 oz. I threw up soft tofu last night, and have a lot of hiccups and PB, but no reflux and I slept ok. It was clear that I needed a fill, no wt loss, I could eat almost normally, but will this fill "loosen"? Do I just have to wait it out or do I need to go in on Monday and…

Good Morning fellow bansters, In light of some recent posts, I felt compelled to start a discussion on LBT forums and what you can expect. At large, there are 3 phases to wls. The initial research preop phase, the postop losing phase, and the maintenance phase. Within each of these groups, you will find like-minded and not so like-minded individuals who are here to share their experiences and their story. Most of us speak to our level of experience. Anyone with over one year of being banded is probably the most qualified to give advice, however, anyone can contribute. Some individuals have additional experiences and knowledge sets unique to them which can serve us a…

As I was setting the table, I took my Vitamins and it immediately got stuck. It was the worst stuck episode I've ever had. Finally threw up but still had horrible pain. Couldn't get liquids down, significant burping and chest pain. I could throw up at any point. Went to bed and it was ever worse. Acid, coughing, burping. Woke up every 20 minutes or so, the whole night. Went to to Doctor first thing this morning and they took .25cc out. Still too tight. I couldn't keep liquids down. My doctor said there was nothing I could do but let it pass but now I'm at day 4 and liquids and purées all make me feel like I wanna throw up! Help?!! I can hold everything down but the after taste makes me feel so nauseous and I feel like this all day..

So the lapband basically cut my food intake by 75% percent of what I been eating. It's been seven months and I've only lost 25 pounds since I was banded (I lost 20 pounds before that). There have been three incidences where I slipped up and ate high calorie foods, but I'm STILL eating 75% less than I was, eating nearly no bread, no Pasta, no burgers, and very little fast food (since I can't eat nearly everything.) I also don't drink sodas and I've had to check myself as I moved to a hotter climate and the land of sweet tea. I stay under 1500 calories a day and 1000 if I am careful and count things. I started going to the gym to strength train and doing yoga twice …

I was wondering if anyone knows of a higher incidence of shingles following WLS...does the sudden weight loss somehow temporarily weaken your immune system? I've had a good amount of personal stress lately which I feel is the most significant factor. Just wondering.... Thanks!!!

( probably not ) Will my relationship with my long term boyfriend change? ( hope not!) Will I give up on this, like i have on EVERY OTHER DIET? 32. Well I'm happy to say my weight today was 221 making my total weight loss pre band and post banding a total of 200 pounds gone! I got the high five from everyone in the doctors office. I lost 176 pre band and 24 pounds since banding on July 24th! I feel fine since banding! Also found out they used a 10cc band because of my lower weight! Those words and me were never in the same sentence together!! OMG huge first for me. If someone had told me 3 years ago that I'd lose 200 pound I would have rolled on the floor laughing than they'd had to call 911 to get me up! All I can say is God is good, and who says life can't be fantastic at 58! Blessings to one and all!

Could my stuff be shared by people to other sites like FB, etc.? I'd like to blog as a journal for myself and to connect here and there but not outside Lapband Talk. Can some one tell me how this works? Sorry to be such a dinosaur!

Ok so I have a slipped band, total unfill, no nausea or vomiting, and a hiatal hernia. I am on 40mg of prilosec twice a day. My surgeon doesnt see any immediate reason to do surgery, but he mentioned he will remove my band if thats what I wanted. My problem is a constant "lump" feeling in my throat that is uncomfortable & driving me insane! My upper GI & EGD also show no immediate reason for surgery but Im going crazy because of this lump feeling. Im to the point of just asking for a removal. Any advice or experiences? I was banded Dec 2006 & have the old 4cc band.

I had slight restrictions before I went into surgery with the same amount of fluid. I did however manage to maintain my weight. My doctor did tell me he slightly moved my band from its original location. I feel like going backwards again. Also I have been having gas like crazy. Is it just me or am I going crazy??

I'm panicking that I'm going to get the fill and It will be too tight and ill be far away from home on vacation. Since I've never had a fill I'm not sure what to expect. Should I just get the full when I get back from vacation? One week won't make a difference right? I'm still doing good unfilled. I'm still losing some weight. I had Lap Band with Plication May 9th. Since the surgery I've only lost 8 lbs. (my starting weight was 185). Today I had my 4th fill, total of 6.25cc in my band. I told my Dr my current weight loss was minimal, I don't feel any restriction. He gave me a prescription for Phentermine appetite suppressant to "jump start" my weight loss. He also said this fill should put me near the green zone. Has anyone else had their Dr prescribe Phentermine 3 months after surgery?

Just curious....How many of you guys get fills with flouro? This is now the only way my doc does them. When I was first banded, I had the option of with/without. I went in last month for a slight tweek, and he automatically led me to the flouro machine, and did my fill that way. I asked about just getting the fill without, he said they just don't do that at all anymore, since the fill under flouro is so much more exact and effective. Well, that's what we all want, right?! At any rate, when I got the bill, I was absolutely shocked. They charged me over 3500.00 for a measly less than 30 minute office visit and fill. Now of course, insurance negotiates that amount do…
