I'm just over a year and a half since banding and have been stuck at 245-250 (6'2 male with 30 bmi, bmi has also remained unchanged) for several months now. I obsessivly track my calories 900-1100 (mostly protiens, solid and Protein shake) a day and excercise approx 3-4 times a week. ive switched up my workout routines. I've read some info about carb cycling but am concerned becasue i track my weight everyday and if i slip up just a little on calories by weight fluctuates alot, like 3-4 pounds which is really frustrating. Like if one day I have a ham and chees sandwhich instead of a protien shake for lunch the next day my weight will have increase a few pounds. am I…

I was banded july 4th.. During operation 4 cc was put in my 14cc band. 16th of august first fill of (1.5).. Felt no difference.. Today 27th I went for another (1cc).. Wow.. I feel it, even water had to be drunk slowly.. No feeling of hunger its 12 hours after fill.. Is this going to last ??

  4. I have seen this on some of the online boards but had my first experience today with someone who basically couldn't understand why I would have the lapband vs. bypass. There seems to be this general idea that the lapband is going to be a failure or you won't lose as much weight by people with the bypass. It certainly seems to come off slower but I don't see that as a negative. I had my first in person experience with someone who had bypass and just basically told me I am going to have to have a bypass if I really want to lose weight. I just replied that it was the right decision for me, I assume everyone who goes down this journey makes the right decision for THEM…

  5. Started by Kellys,

I have been having trouble with my band for the past 3 months - up to that point everything was going very well. I am scheduled to have an upper GI next week to see if the band itself has slipped but I am wondering if my eating habits may be causing the problems. The acid reflux and vomiting seemed to have started when I had a particularly bad weekend - I constantly ate, was sick and then would eat again. I was basically out of control and binging. Up to that point I had been eating well and had only been sick a few times in the year since my surgery. Have I done damage to the band? Could that cause the band to slip?

Hey Everyone, If you were unaware of the situation basically I was supposed to have lap band on August 26th but a week in to my strict liquid pre-op diet I found the strenght to control my eating on my own so I post poned the surgery indefinetely. Majority of the members of this forum told me I shouldn't have post poned my surgery because I'd just end up gaining the weight back and needing surgery regardless. The week of that pre-op diet I actually lost 22 pounds and was 351lbs (started at 373), after I made the decision I started watching my portions and my decisions but actually gained 5 pounds back (356)... Immediately I thought "what the hell did I do?" but I didn…

I have been researching the vitamixer and I though it would be a great tool to have in the kitchen for my post op for the first month while I will be on liquids and mushies. Can anyone give me their thoughts on them?

  13. Hello folks. Here I am again with another question!! If you chose not to tell people at work or friends about your LB, how did you keep it secret? Did you change your mind and eventually tell? What kind of comments/questions did they ask? How did you handle it? I am not planning to tell my coworkers. I know they will ask questions as they are super gossipy. Thanks again for open and honest responses!

Had my first fill yesterday, I was really nervous . But all went well, I recieved 5cc, is this about the norm I have done very good on the plan and specially since my banding. 60 days I have lost 6 inch in waist, went from 3xxl to 2 Xl shirt. I have dropped 38 bs in 60 day , which is a little over .5 lbs a day. I am on Clear liquids for two day, then two days of full liquids. Then off to my great adventure. My favorite food is slow cooker chicken breast in rustic Italian dressing ( fat free), retried Beans and cheese, cheese grits and of course cottage cheese. Good look David

I am trying different things every day. I have my shakes, I have pudding with the protein powder mixed in it. I had diced chicken with creamed corn on mashed potato.Had hot chicken wings without the skin & cooked veggies. Fudge sickles are a nice treat at night.

  16. I think i may be hooked on Skinny Cow desserts & my suguar free pudding i make with protein. Are you? What are your guilt free treats?

I have 50 lbs to lose, in no real rush to lose it, just want steady consistent weight loss. I have not had a fill yet, but I know there was some in the band when it was put in. If I can consistently lose 5-8 lbs a month without a fill is it stupid to delay a fill? and maybe get one if I hit a plateau? Most people seem very anxious to get fills... So I just want to make sure I am not being silly

Day 40 since the lap band installation, and I had my second fill early this morning. Once again, no problem during the procedure and I am now at 5.6cc of the 14cc band. liquids today, and mushie tomorrow. After the first fill, a failure to chew thoroughly resulted in a couple of "situations" that I would prefer to avoid in the future. I noticed that these seem to occur during the first few bites of a meal when I haven't thought things through and just chow down like in the past. Since we say grace before meals, I've added a silent "small bites, big chew" reminder to myself which has helped. Learning to work with the band seems to be quite an art! Walking any mean…

I'm really sorry if this the wrong place but was not sure where to put it. I'm on holiday abroad another ten days to go. I'm barely able to eat, usually manage about four ounces around nine pm at night. I'm on diabetic medication which I cannot tolerate, I'm keeping a good eye on my blood sugars and they are low not high so supplementing with orange juice . I can get water down and if I concentrate I can manage juice. I have a further three stone to lose so that's ok. Any thoughts from you all would be appreciated. I'm feeling a little scared and lonely so far away from my support mechanisms.

but still not losing. I know it has been only 6 weeks. I have not lost anything. I am playing golf(no cart)and walking. I am eating between 800-1100 calories. I know I sound whiny. I was hoping to see atleast a couple of pounds off by now. I have a bad knee and do not know what else I can do. I am careful to get my Protein in, ie. carnivore, and get very little else in. I am really hoping to see some movement at my next fill. Not moving makes me feel like I am failing. Sorry for the vent, but sometimes I have to. I don't want to vent to family/friends all the time because they ask me how much I have lost. Well, thanks for listening.

So I went back for my 2nd fill after having all my fluid removed because I had been too tight and ended up with a slightly stretched pouch. My first fill was 3 cc. And I felt no restriction at all. So she debated between 1 1/2 and 2. Went with 1 1/2. I'm hoping for some restriction this time! She did tell me that if I thought I needed a bit more to come back in 2 weeks instead of 4. Still on liquids til lunch. But hoping I'm at a great place!

My morning smoothie blew up my Kitchen Aid blender again! So I went out and bought this instead: http://www.amazon.com/Ninja-BL660-Professional-Blender-Single/dp/B00939FV8K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1378738502&sr=8-2&keywords=ninja+blender+1100 I did quite a bit of research and almost went home with a 350.00 Blendtec from costco, but just couldn't make myself spend that type of money. So, I went with the Ninja at Bed, Bath and Beyond (20% off coupon, the total came to 119). Been using it for about a week now and I love it, especially the single serve jars. 1/2 an apple, a splash of OJ and a handful of spinach gives me a great little snack and two servings o…

For those that regret their decision to be banded or are contemplating WLS and think that the sleeve is 'perfect" this is a brilliant thread that I think is well worth reading. It shows that people with sleeves have exactly the same issues that people with bands do.Some are ecstatically happy with their choice, some wish they had never done it. Some had serious complication etc. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/74528-would-you-have-weight-loss-surgery-again/page__st__120 So remember there is no perfect WLS. Each individual has to decide , in conjunction with their Dr, what they feel is right for them. It is very important to be aware of possible risks and comp…

So the first few weeks out of surgery(05-14-13) I lost weight due to the liquid diet (12lbs). I am ready to have my 4th fill Monday and am currently down only 2 more pounds. I am so frustrated!!!! I keep hearing this is normal.I have had a personal trainer 3x a week for the last 2 months and have ran on other days. I understand muscle. Weighs more then fat but shouldn't I be losing more weight since I don't eat as much? Is anyone else having litlle or no results four months into it?

I will be self-pay, which scares me, cuz I worry about failure. I have done Weight Watchers, kept it off for a while and it crept back on. Did Medifast, it crept back on. You see the pattern? I worry about failure. I am not concerned about getting food stuck or sliming, cuz I do that now. And, I know how to deal with that. I know my life will change drastically with the 'band'. Eating changes. I want to be me of those people that Eat to Live, not Live to Eat. I want to like myself again. Sometimes I wonder …

I was banded on 03/29/13. I received my 4th fill on Tues. Until then, I didn't feel much restriction, not consistently anyway. Meaning, one day a small portion would satisfy me, but the next day, the same portion size did NOTHING for me. With the fill I got Tues., I was on protein shakes the entire day. I tolerated them just fine. All day yesterday, I ate mushy foods. I had half a cup of applesauce, half a cup of cottage cheese...tolerated those fine as well. This a.m., I had a small mug of hot water with lemon. After about 45 minutes, I tried to eat scrambled egg whites with cheese. I took small bites and chewed well but was OVERSTUFFED after about 1/4 a cup!!! I've eate…

  46. So I went to a different Doctor yesterday to get my fill. My doctor and his awesome nurse were gone this week and I really wanted a fill so I went to his coworker. Well She ended up poking me twice and missing my port. The second time she poked me I guess she hit my muscle or something but I let out a YELP! and she quickly pulled the needle out. She ended up saying that she didn't feel comfortable trying again and that it would be best to wait for my doctor and or his nurse to do the next fill. So I spent the rest of the day sad that I didn't get the fill I want so badly, not to mention a bit sore in my abdomen. I woke up today and have a little bruise from where she poke…
