I had a small fill (1/4cc) three months ago. I did really great for awhile and I started exercising more. I am now walking/jogging 20-25 miles a week and for the past month my band seems to be tighter. A lot tighter! The past few days have been really rough. I can't eat much at all. I woke up with horrible heartburn last night. I haven't had heartburn since being banded in April 2012. I've thrown up a few times too. I'm not eating anything bad either. This morning I had a protein shake and then I had spaghetti squash for dinner. I don't know if I should get a little taken out or rest for a few days on liquids. I have an appointment on Tuesday with my doctor. Have any of …

I was wondering how may calories u guys consume in a day. I am almost 4 weeks out from surgery and my starting weight was 257 and as of three days ago I was down to 239...I had figured out that before surgery I was consuming roughly 3500 calories according to a calorie counter. It said that's what I needed to maintain that weight which is what I was doing somehow. I am trying to get between 1000 and 1100 calories a day and was wondering if that seems right. I am losing weight so I'm not complaining just curious. I have not been told what I should b consuming.

I went on the 9th for a fill. I have recently switched to a different doctor that is about 2 hours closer to my home. Purely for convenience. Originally I had Dr. Ken Hollis from Houston (True Results) but he doesn't do the fills himself. I was getting my fills by his PA's. Here is where it gets weird, I switched to Dr Speigle in Port Neches and when he went to check how much fluid I had in my band he stated there was only 2.5 cc's. At the other office they said I had over 4. They said the band looked fine after I did a barium swallow so it hasn't slipped and when I asked Dr. Speigle if I should be concerned and could it be a leak he said no not to be that he use to run T…

What are some protein powders y'all like and how do you like to mix them up? I've been trying to look some up online but I think it would be easier to ask y'all.

My pouch was irritated and swollen so Dr took all my fluid out. Ten minutes after it felt like I was having a heart attack, bp was sky high, heart rate thru the roof! Went back in to see my Dr and she had me rushed to the hospital as a precaution, even though we all felt it was gastro/band related. Heart is fine! But I still keep getting pain in my chest where the band is located! Is it normal to feel discomfort after an unfill?

I'm being banded Sept 13th. Has anyone started the preop diet? I'm not sure about choosing between pre made shakes and mixing my own, which brand to drink. My nutritionist gave me a list of brands but I have a friend who uses Carnation Instant Breskfast sugar free. A lot of decisions and I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

So I'm a bit confused on how food goes through the pouch. I've read that our pouch is 15% of our whole stomach and that's where the food sits when we it. It fills up quickly being so small and that's why we stop eating. Then it takes an hour or so for all that food to squeeze through to the bigger stomach. But I also read somewhere, that the food we eat actually squeezes through during the meal, taking about a minute, and that's why we have to wait a minute between the bites. Can anyone help to clear this up for me please?? Thank you

I was banded on 1/31/13. Down 43lbs to date, but the first 40 pretty much came off easily between Jan - May including 2 fills, then I stalled all summer at about 40lbs lost. I held stead for 3 months, had 1 fill but it didn't do much during that time. After meeting with my NP 2 weeks ago she suggested a drastic calorie cut (1000 vs 1600 I had been at) and up my cardio to 60 mins 7d/wk. She explained 40lbs tends to be a big sticking point for people. So far, with my fill 2 weeks ago and 5x a week 1hour+ cardio sessions things are starting to move, down 3lbs in 2 weeks. Very much struggling with my food though, I can't seem to get below 1400cal without being starving.…

Was banded 7/30/13 have a 10 cc band with one fill of 3cc. After eating certain foods ( chicken, meatballs, and omelet sometimes for example it feels like it gets stuck in the bottom of my throat near my chest. Ill burp or hiccup And after like 5 or so mins. It goes away. . Is that what is considered a stuck episode? I'm due for another 3cc fill on the 19th. Should I still get a fill? I usually last 3-4 hrs between meals and some days I'm hungrier than others. I'm sure I'm not in the green zone so I think I should keep my appointment. Maybe just chew better? Any advice would be helpful. . Thank you

I had my 5th fill this week and I tell you, I'm not hungry but I also can't keep much down. What is this white foam I keep spitting up too? I definitely can't eat or drink much. I'm eating ice because its easier to keep down. I have been trying to finish 8 oz of tea for 2 days. I keep reheating it :-). One friend just said give it a few more days. What do you guys think? I like what the scale says though. I'm down 8 lbs since my fill Monday. My fear is dehydration.

Last night I spoke with my old roommate who had Lap Band surgery 3 months after I did. I saw her pictures on FB and reached out to let her know she has done a remarkable job and looks amazing. She let me know she removed the lap band a year ago after reaching her goal of 130lbs. She said she had no compications, she just wanted to live a clean healthy life without the band. I sometimes think about removing my band since my life is so different too. I eat all organic (as much as possible), vegetarian, and now help consult others in losing weight and working out. I am not ashamed of my lap band and on my website, I let everyone know my TRUE story and how I loss the weight…

Since they are becoming available for this season, how many of you are getting flu shots as a preventive measure? I know at work I am around a lot of difference people and also have a couple of trips planned. The thought of getting sick with a stomach bug is something I really don't want to encounter.

I was banded 7/26/13. Starting with a BMI of 31.8. My weight pre-surgery was 163. I am now weighing in at about 149. I got my first fill on 8/28/13. Doctor put 4cc's in at surgery...and my fill added 1cc. So I am up to 5cc's. I am defintely eating much less and feeling satisfied for about 4 hours...but scale isn't moving. Okay, so I have a question. Is this good progress? I just want to make sure I am on the right track. I feel like I am not losing much weight. I realize that starting with a smaller BMI, weight loss is going to be much slower! I already know that. I just would have expected to have lost more than 14 pounds. However, I can definitely tell in my pictur…

Is this possible? My band lost some fluid but the doc said its probably not a leak..I was supposedly at 6.25 had my level checked and only 5cc came out. The fluid was clear and he said if it was a leak I would have lost more fluid and the fluid wld be yellow not clear...so what gives?

Has anyone else become overly sensitive to caffeine after being banded? I didn't have a problem before the band but recently I have found myself very sensitive to coffee and other drinks with caffeine, it's gotten especially bad after my last fill. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

I had been curious about the Unjury Chicken Soup so I ordered a packet along with my tub of unflavored protein. It's pretty good - it's a bit lumpy since I only stirred it into a cup of hot water, perhaps a shaker bottle or blender would have made it smooth and creamy. I won't be ordering a full container of it though, since it only tastes like unflavored protein powder mixed with chicken broth or a bouillon cube. Since I have the unflavored, I'll just mix it in chicken broth (or beef or vegetable) myself and get the same results.

I'm just going to keep it moving and do the right thing . I'm scarred that I'm able to eat certain things . Anybody else feels like this ?

I've had my band since February 2009. I lost a total of 40 lbs. I was at a comfortable adjustment and started having complications last summer. I had a small unfill and felt better. Things were good until a few months ago when I started having increased episodes of food getting stuck. I was eating slowly, chewing well, etc. I went last month and had another unfill. I had 2 cc left in a 10 cc band. Still, I had increased problems with food and getting stuck. I was always having a lot of belching and increased acid reflux. I went 1 week ago and had a complete unfill...nothing in there. And STILL....the food problems are happening. I haven't changed my eating hab…

Hiya, I was banded 7 weeks ago, and had my second fill yesterday. Had 4.5cc in on day of op, then another 0.5cc at first fill and 1cc yesterday, taking me to 6cc in a 10cc band.. To early to tell yet but I'm hoping to be at green zone, mostly because I have a cruise in 3 weeks and don't wanna eat my way through the ship.. Lost 14lb today which is 40% of what I want to loose... All good to date.. X My question is does the restriction build over a few days or should it be felt straight away?

Yesterday, my boyfriend told me that a guy at his work, who had the lap-band, had to have emergency gastric bypass because the band had made a hole in his stomach because it had slipped. I told him that that was the most absurd thing I had ever heard. I just wanna know your thoughts on this.
