I've decided to start making a scrapbook of my journey to see where I've been and where I'm going. Kind of late in the game but I believe it will be neat to look back on and share one day.

So I just had mt first fill and it was very different. Since the fill, I have had zero urge to eat and have to force myself to drink a protein shake. I don't think I'm too tight either. is anyone else having this problem? Right now I have 4cc in a 20cc band. 3cc at time if surgery and a 1cc fill.

It's really unbelievable, and I am still having this weird out of body experience... Last night my husband and I went to visit a friend who just had a baby. We took lots of photos of each of us holding her, and then this morning, he posted all the photos on Facebook. I have never, and I mean NEVER, in my entire life, looked at a photo of myself and thought I looked skinny. And I know in person I don't look skinny--I mean, I'm 5'2" and a size 14--But these photos! I just can't get over it!!! I look almost gaunt! Bony cheekbones, no hint of a double chin, indents in my neck, sharply edged shoulders, small arms... WHO IS THIS PERSON???? It's so weird!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I've never been ideal weight in my whole life.....I mean NEVER! ALWAYS been overweight and always got in trouble every time I would go to the doctor....well the other day I went to the OBGYN and got on the scale and had lost 4lbs from what I was when I went to get a fill. The doc had no clue that I had lap band and I just knew I was going to get fussed at for being 366. So she came in asking about how I have been doing and I told her about my lap band and she just thought that was so awesome! She was so proud of me for taking the step to a healthier me and so glad that my weight was gradually coming off and at a slow pace. I never heard once "well you know you need t…

I couldn't sleep I made the decision to have the band have my consult in two weeks and then spent all last night reading about complications and problems now I am second guessing my decision. It seems like a lot of the posts even the success stories here are filled with problems. I am very limited in how much time I can take off and really afraid of the cost of these problems and extremely afraid of problems in general

OKOK It technically involves a scale, but not really lol I weighed in this a.m. at 150.2. I had a fill scheduled for this morning and so I go in and get one done. It's customary for them to weigh you in, so I weighed in clothes and all minus the shoes. Don't you know..that scale said 148. I wanted to focus more on the fact that this was the FIRST time in my life, I've ever weighed less at the docs office opposed to at home- and that's DRESSED! Ok, I think this high will keep me happy for an entire week ahhaha

I'm hoping someone can relate and give me ways to deal.... So I have a getaway weekend planned with friends and find myself getting anxious over being "normal". I still need to lose weight so I'm very dedicated to counting calories. It just helps me be accountable and it's not like preband when I would count calories and would be so hungry that I would eat every last one and be sad if I had none left. Now I rarely go over my set amount and am not ever hungry. The anxiety comes into play when I think about going out this weekend with friends. I want to enjoy a glass or two of wine, a few bites of a cheese laden appetizer, and a meal covered in a rich sauce. I don't w…

Question about Protein absorption: Has anyone's doctor or nut told them how much protein can be absorbed at one meal? I am to ingest 80g protein/day, on an 800 calorie diet, divided into 3 meals, no Snacks. --roughly: 27g protein for each meal-- My morning Protein shake has 47g protein, 160 calories, 5 carbs.... just wondering if I am absorbing all of 47g protein? (I actually add 4 scoops of whey powder to these morning shakes but could reduce to 2 scoops if I'm not actually absorbing it all) (2 scoops = 15g...so 4 = 30g) (plus EAS 17g) I know various factors exist for absorption: -Type of protein -Solid/Liquid protein -How Active you are (exercise) …

I had my 2nd fill today. The first was a few weeks ago and really did nothing. Today however is a different story. I can't really take two sips of water without feeling like it might come back up. I've been reading some posts that say its due to swelling. So I'm wondering if what I'm feeling is normal or if maybe the band is too full now?

I went to the doctors today to get a fill and was unable to get it. My doctor said he could get fluid in, but he couldn't get any out. He had me do the barium swallow and it looks to him as if part of my port has broken and possible a kink in the tubing. He was to go in and look around and do a port revision. We just have to wait to see if insurance will accept it. He said this is not normal and not sure that has caused this. I've only been banded since May 1st of this year. :-( I'm so worried.

Am I the only one who CAN NOT STAND Unjury unflavored protein powder?? I want to like it soooo bad. I've tried it in a very strong flavor of Crystal Light, and it was gross. So I tried it in some warm (less than 130 degree) chicken broth. Yuck. I couldn't even stand the smell!! I am only a week post-op, and I am able to get my protein in with chocolate powder, but I was hoping for some more options!! I know there are a lot of people on here who swear by it.....what's wrong with me??!!!!

I had my surgery back on December 11th and I am down 67 pounds!! Things were going good till last night... I had a fill done back in late June. Since that fill things have been more challenging to eat than normal. On my last visit I didn't get a fill but didn't have any removed either as I figured I could ride it out and just be more cautious with what I'm eating and making sure I chew it well. Last night I was at a baseball game and I had a hot dog and was taking my time with it. Well a piece must not have been chewed good enough and about half way through I felt that tight feel in my chest and ran to the bathroom. Let the regurge begin!! Usually it passes after abo…

Hey everyone! I was banded in December 2012 and since then I've had a few UTIs from not being able to drink as much as I should. I try to space out drinking so that its far enough away from meals but then I get caught up in other things and forget to drink. Anyone else have the UTI problem?

One of my best friends and I decided to embark on the WLS journey together. We both kept it very private and really only talked to each other about it. I had lap band on May 9, 2013, she had gastric bypass on July 2, 2013. I am absolutely heartbroken to say that she passed away this week as a result of the surgery (just over 2 months after the surgery) I'm lost. I've devastated. I'm so sad for her husband and two young children. This doesn't change the statistics. We all know the dangers of WLS. It just sucks that it was SO close to home.

I know this has been asked before, but i have seen a lot of new post about fills and people going and it not going so well. I have looked a many Youtube vids and see that it's pretty much the same. This is what my doctor does: 1. weight and blood pressure 2. ask how's my hunger and eating 3. ask if i want a fill 4. lie on bed 5. places rolled pillow behind my back (this pushes the port forward for easy find) 6. draws .5cc in syringe (use to be 1cc, but im almost at max) 7. wipes area 8. feels for port 9. says, slight prick, and inserts needle into port 10. draws up current saline to make sure in port and puts in new fill. 11. pull back up to make sure in…

I give Unjury Unflavored Protein an enthusiastic thumbs up! With the small amount of food we can eat, we have to find a way to get our nutrients in and I am happy to say that I know I can do much better with this product. I've added it to my yogurt this morning and it hasn't changed the texture or the taste (only slightly...maybe because I know I've added something to it). But it completely dissolved and actually made my yogurt much cremier. I like it and will be ordering more when I run out! My yogurt has gone from 8g's a serving to 30...what a deal!

I was banded in Feb. of 2010, starting weight of 308 and I'm currently at 218. I haven't lost any weight really in about 8 months. I want to try low carb and get the last 40 pounds off. Please offer me suggestions, recipes or a few days of menus to get me jumpstarted. I've come too far to settle at this point, life has just been crazy and I haven't paid attention to what I have been taking in every day. Thanks for any helpd and suggestions:)

So I had another fill on Tuesday and have been very careful all week to let that settle and not get stuck on anything. At lunch yesterday, I tried to eat a sandwich with pastrami and found that I could not chew it enough to get it down, so out that went. I didn't actually get stuck, but the rest of the day I found I really had to go slower than usual to get even mushy stuff down. FF to last night at bedtime: I let the dog out, grabbed a small handful of nuts, chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed, and swallowed. Let the dog in, go upstairs and get a drink of water and the second sip won't go down! So that stinks. But I don't feel any distress like being stuck feels, a…

Okay, this is my first post and I'm going all out. I saw some threads like this where people who are scheduled for surgery during this month can chat with one another. I'm scheduled for the 13th and couldn't be more EXCITED! My highest weight was 195, I'm currently at 180. My BMI is 32, my goal is for a healthy BMI. I'd have a permo smile if the scale ever read 120 Anybody else out there getting banded this month? I'm interested in hearing your goals, wants and wishes.

Hello it has been a long time since I have posted on this forum. I had my lap band surgery January 2011 and have yet to hit my goal weight. At one point I was down 52 pounds and then ran into some health problems. It started in August of 2012 my band out of no where tighten so bad I could not swallow my own saliva...very scary. Went and had 3cc pulled out of my band and wow I could eat again. I won't say I was totally out of control but being able to eat a normal meal did feel good. Then in October 2012I started having issues with my stomach. Pain so severe landed me in the ER to find out my gallbladder had to come out. I had large amount of stones and sluge. Scheduled my…

Total: 12kg (27lbs) loss... Losing about 2.4kg a month... Protein first & water, water, water! Yoga 3 days a week. Start my C25K tomorrow, after been given the clear after dislocating my knee 3 months ago. Would have loved to have started running sooner but being so accident prone it set me back 3 months. Yoga is great, I do 1 basic yoga class & 2 fat burning classes a week. It's help with centre meter loss. If anyone has any pointers, customs or routines they have found works great for them, please share your lessons. I'm keen to learn from my own and fellow lapbander's like yourselves. Thanks all in advance.

Less than 4 days until surgery and it's on to the next step!! I cannot believe how fast time is going by. Had my pre-admission and lab work done Thursday along with my EKG and was told by the RN that I was in good health and should have no problems. I must be doing something right. She was awesome! She had me laughing and then at the last minute ask me to be still for the EKG. How is everyone else doing?

Seriously... I do meeting on an almost daily basis in work as a nurse, and I am finding I am having to shout to be heard Over the sound of my own stomach... I can hear it growling "please louise, were r my pies, crisps and chocolate, feed me, feed me" It's like a baby, I have tried to ignore it, but it's trying every trick in the book!! Just as I am about to speak with a doctor or a patients relatives.. It shouts out "feed me or I will embarrass you" Some times a rubble, so loud the other day, the kids thought it was storm.. Sometimes a screech or a loud burb, anything to distract me and get my attention!! It's even started growing during love making!! But I tell…
