Okay so I'm hoping to get insurance approval to be banded in early December and I literally had a dream last night that I was banded and was waiting to feel the sensation of 'tight' or 'restriction ' that so many Bandsters talk about. After surgery will my actual stomach feel any different? Or will it just be after my 1st fill and when I'm eating. I know this question may sound silly but I am getting excited and eager to really see/feel how my life will be different.

Ugh so I'm 22 and have been over weight my whole like I graduate nursing school in December and I ideally wanted to graduate 40lbs lighter than I am. I lost at total of 62 lbs but gained back 15-20. I am soo disappointed in myself and eat generally healthy I just need to get back into exercising but my schedule is so crazy and have barely enough $ to pay bills without a gym membership to add to that. Can anyone give me some advice on what I'm doing wrong? I also haven't gone to my drs in like 5 months because I'm embarrassed and feel I know what I'm doing wrong but am just stuck

I was just thinking in the spirit of the month upon us that we should have a thread to be able to tell our scariest stories. Those stories that relate to our band or weight however. Since it gets brought up all the time but just in a different way, I thought one place to be able to read them would be good. Maybe it's the time your doctor told you if you didn't lose weight you would never see your child graduate or maybe it was a time you had a stuck episode followed by a panic attack. Hopefully this will help some people that maybe feel they were alone when whatever happened or that scary moment has only ever happened to them.

Hi..... So I was diagnosed yesterday with high gluten intolerance, my mom has full celiac disease. My pcp is saying that my gluten intolerance is what is causing all of my MS like symptoms, I was considered probable MS before now. I am a super picky eater and I've been helping my mom out with her shopping for gf items, however there is nothing really that I would like to eat myself. In my house there are only a few things that I can eat that are gf, cottage cheese and Heinz ketchup being my favorite items. Lol. I can't ever eat matzo and butter, which is a favorite snack, nor peanut butter. I am also unsure how the gf foods will work with my band. Any suggestions? Thanks…

Puttimg some things in the freezer for six weeks from now. I've probably already posted too much about cauliflower, but this batch is amazing. Bought some small canning jars, steamed an organic cauliflower, smashed it up with aloe vera juice, salt, pepper and ground coriander. Nine jars of future yumminess. I figure this will be great post-surgery food when the time comes.

Been really down since getting another unfill and them wanted to do the scope. 18th will be my 2nd year w band and I'm still struggling. Real sad. Add to my crazy schedule and I know I'm gaining. Very frustrated. The can't seem to figure out if my menestral cycle is reason for having to get a unfil3-4 weeks out or if I have developed some kind of acid reflux. I've lost around 60-65 pounds still have 40-45 after two years. I am so down.;( and scared .

So I'm interested about excess skin with the younger banders. I know people lose elasticity in skin over the years. We are young and (fingers crossed) maybe excess skin won't be so bad. Any input, any personal stories? I know everyone is different and such, just curious.

Hi Guys! As you know I was banded Sept 3rd. and I swear I'm hungry all the time. I'm trying to learn the difference between real hunger or just head hunger. That's where I'm at in this journey right now. Trying to face what got me to the point of being overweight in the first place and replacing it with some good habits instead. Has anybody else been struggling with their internal demons? Instead of eating I went for a long walk last night. I drank some crystal light when I got back and I felt like I had won a small battle.

I was banded Dec. 2011 and have exceeded my goal set by my doctor. I had .2cc put in the first of July. I struggled at first with the fill being tight, but after a month or so it seemed to get a little better. I have had good and bad days not really able to tell you why. The last week I can hardle keep down liquids. I take small bites and chew chew chew but still I get that stuck feeling. I really do best if I wait until late after noon or early evening to eat. Is this normal? I don't want to wait and complications start. I have had a very sucessful lapband experience. I don't want to get an unfill and start gaining but i also don't want to continue like this e…

I had lapband in May of 2013. My bestfriend since nursery school had gastric bypass in July of 2013. This was our journey togehter. Thers is such comfort of having a friend that is exploring this journey with you. Someone who tells you like it is, who doesn't play games, who is as real as it gets. She passsed away on 9/8/13 due to complications from WLS. I'm lost. I'm heartbroken. She's the only person (other than my husband and immediate family) that knew I had lapband. She was the one person that I confided in about everything. The one person who "got it." She was my sanity. The one who broke through the bull ****, could talk about the real issues of being fat, wi…

I'm a tour conductor and I took a 7 say cruise and I lost 8 lbs! I've decided to reward myself on my bandaverssary and book a special cruise with Laplanders. If anyone is interested in joining other Laplanders let me know and I'll arrange it. I think I lost weight just from walking everywhere on the ship but I made wise food choices and the chef was able to accommodate my diet. I take great pride in helping people with special needs take hassle free vacations and cruises so they can experience the world without limitations. That includes special diets, etc., when I told my doctor I was concerned about taking a cruise because of all the food around me, he said no one is pu…

I go for a EDG Thursday next week. I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with spasms and the outcomes. Its scaring me to death and setting me up nicely for lovely anxiety attacks after. Im curious if people actually end up having their band taken out because of this.

Hi everyone I got my first fill Sept 10 2013 and I get full with small amounts , I went to the Dr. today and was told I'm not eating enough calories , even though I'm eating 2-3 meals and 2 snacks. I don't want to go over my calorie intake I've set for myself, I also don't want to feel extremely full , it doesn't feel good at all. Does anyone else have this problem?

Have been banded since 2010. Lost 40 in the first 3 months, than maintained for a year ( still needed to lose 30) and this year I have gained back 20. I don't know what to do. I feel so confused. Going to gym 3-4 times weekly, tracking calories of less than 1400 daily with about 60grams protein a day. I have 5cc in my band and think I'm good with that. I can go easily 4 hours between meals. Protein drink or turkey bacon/sausage for breakfast, salad with protein for lunch and cooked veggies and protein for dinner. Any ideas of what I can do. I find myself only thinking of food all day and hating myself again. Also no longer fitting in my clothes cause I got rid of the…

Just curious...are there any foods that you absolutely cannot tolerate eating since being banded? 98% of the time, I can't eat bread. I can eat scrambled egg whites but not 'regular' scrambled eggs. I can also eat the white part of a boiled egg but not the yolk. Also, 1/2 a glass of Moscato makes me TIPSY!

This will be our 1st Master Thread to chat, share dates, diets, feelings, etc. When it starts getting too long (loads too slowly) we can start a 2nd and so on. If you want a "Bunny Bandsters - April '09" signature line (see below) then click HERE (feel free to change anything). On LBT go to 'User CP' (in the top banner) then down to 'Edit your Signature' (on the Left column). Now copy the PICTURE of the Bunny signature with the peep and paste it into the edit your signature box. Can…

I'm going for my fifth fill this week. So frustrated. I haven't lost any weight but I maintained. I'm less hungry between meals but that's not what I need the most. I need to feel full or satisfied when I'm eating and that's not happening. I can eat I ton. I try not to buy I could. I eat slower and chew more, but that's it. Is this normal? Will this work for me?

I've been thinking about how I see myself -- the long battle with overweight has taken its toll on my self-image and I know many people here can identify with that. I'm really looking forward to being banded and recapturing my sense of self. Here's a Ted Talk I stumbled on recently that addresses this -- pretty fascinating! Thought I'd share it in case others might benefit from some of these ideas.

Hi, I have been banded for 8 days now and lost 5Lb, I am on the liquid diet and think I am taking in around 400-500 cals a day. I'm gutted I have only lost 5lb! I'm more worried that when I move into solids my weight loss stops! How much did you all loose? I expected to have a boosted loss the first 2 weeks. In total I have 4 stone to loose. Thanks

Had another fill at the Banding Centers of America in Florham Park, NJ. Since my insurane is lame ($5000 deductible) I paid out of pocket. $200 for the facility fee and $350 for my surgeon's fee. All in all not too bad. Darwin was great at explaining the insurance issues and Tim was a great tech. Thank you both for helping me on my journey. I HIGHLY recommend this new facility to ALL:thumbup:

I was banded July 9. I've lost 50+ pounds. This morning I've had pain at my port site. Its like a ripping sensation. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a small bit of pain, but I figured it was regular healing. This is far worse. Around the site is pinkish..... normal or just part of the process?

It's now been two years since I had the lapband surgery done. For a year and a 1/2 i struggled with eating. I was throwing up almost on a daily basis. After a total and complete meltdown I finally decided 6 months ago to have all the fluid removed and now i'm just saving my money to have the lapband taken out. I wish I had a success story, but this simply didn't work for me.

I haven't had a fill in 4 years...so I decided that I need to go to my Dr. and get one! I just had a baby 2 months ago and want to get back on track. My question is..is it possible to get a fill without a fluroscope? The past few I had the dr did the fluro with barium. They just scheduled me a regular office visit but I want to get it filled so I don't have to switch schedules with my co-worker again and make another 45 minute trip.

greetings fellow bandsters. this morning i was thinking how lucky i've been through my journey in changing and to my new and improved life!!! and i also owe lots of thanks to each and every one of you. for those who have been there and even those who you may not. we are all together in this. some of us may linger and not say anything, and others post daily. what ever the reason you're here, the fact is you are here. knowing i can come here open and honestly for support, complain, share my joys or even my downs, is for me support. i actually have a couple of friends who i feel no longer any type of support for me. for me they are no longer an inspiration, or me…

My doctors office is conservative when it comes to administering fills..in my humble opinion this is not a bad thing, I would like to avoid ever having complications from being too tight if I can help it. They take the time to interview the patient and find out what's been going on for them through out the month. Checking on their eating mechanics and food choices. Now this last month...I have been sick. Fighting an upper respiratory infection for what's going on week 3 as of Monday! I have COPD so any bad infection tends to lodge in my chest and try to make itself at home there! Which can be a big set back for exercise it's not something one wants to do much of whe…

It has been a long time since I've posted on any band sites. I was originally banded in 2004 with the original lab band and was rebanded in 2009 with the realize band. I was very successful the first time around and lost over 80 lbs. I started having complications went to the er and I got a new band. Since that time I have had little to know success with weight loss but I also wasn't having any problems either. Fast forward I got pregnant in 2011 and had to get all of my fluid removed in 2012. No problems during pregnancy in fact it was the best diet I had ever been on. After giving birth to a beautiful daughter I decided I needed to get serious about weight los…

Had surgery on July 1, 2013 I was 240 pounds had my 4th fill today and it was the most pain I have ever had with a fill they found my port but the needle would not go in so they thought my port had Flip over because when she tried to put the needle in it keep hitting something after 5 attempts I told her take the needle out right now it hurts so she did so I waited a couple minutes and we tried it again apparently my port is at an angle so you can't go straight in like some people you have to turn my needle to the side so she said as people lose weight sometimes your port tens to shift So now I'm at 6.5cc I hope this puts me in my green zone weight today was 220

Hi everyone. I was wondering if others have this issue. Are there foods that you just CAN'T eat? For me personally, I cannot eat, french fries (a good thing), hot dogs and some ground beef. If I even try, it gets stuck and my tum is irritated for the rest of the day. Just wondering if this is normal.

Called my surgeons office since I've started with night coughing and heartburn since my last fill. So, it's back to liquids & mushies until Wednesday when I am scheduled to go in for my first unfill. 22 months banded and still happy that I chose the band. I haven't had many adjustments but just the fact that it can be adjusted was deciding factor for me. Curious if others do more seesawing back and forth than my experience?

So I'm ten months out from my realize band surgery and I have lost around 130 lbs so far. I've been having some problems with irritability and it seems like every one is in on it but me. It feels like I can't really control my mood and sometimes go flying off the rails. Anyone else experiencing something similar to this? Is it hormones? Any advice would be appreciated....

Well I wasn't prepared to be this uncomfortable with my first fill. I went Wednesday and the nurse explained that the first time they like to fill the band completely up and then let out saline. So she filled it up with 10 cc's, had me sit up and take a couple of sips. The pressure was intense and I started getting nauseated. She then removed some and had me sip water until I guess she decided 2 cc's were good. I felt fine until that night while trying to sleep. I tossed and turned bc I could feel the pressure of the band and it was really uncomfortable. Yesterday I maybe got in 10 ounces of water/hot tea but it just hurt so bad I didn't want to drink. I tried a SF popcic…

Hello everyone! I found this site and was wondering if there is anyone out there in Southern MN? I had surgery July 2013... And today I was called by someone I didn't know who told me my surgeon closed his practice and moved; however they couldn't tell me where, only I would be getting a letter with other providers who I could contact for treatment. Kicker, I am due for another fill in 3 days.
