I had my 4th fill on Monday of 1.5cc my total 6.5cc. I have been vomiting after eating supper, I haven't had this issue until this fill. I have no issues with breakfast or lunch, it's just with dinner. I'm not having much hunger so I make myself eat at least something. Monday, I ate about 2 hours after my fill and vomited just one time, Tuesday after dinner I was fine, a little nauseated but not bad and then tonight I vomited everything I ate and now I not hungry at all but feel better. Will this pass? Should I get .5cc taken out? I have no issue with drinking or acid reflux. Thoughts...

I got a MAJOR stuck epi [the worse I've EVER had] precisely on the night before my first job interview in a loooong time. Ggrrrrrr. Worse of all it was with a piece of meat the size of a distal phalanx (first section of our fingers) and a baby spoon of rice. Thankfully, everything came out after one hour *mostly THROUGH MY NOSE. The rice grains were whole, for the most part, but the chicken was pretty beat up so I'm calling the rice the culprit. And may I add.... I'm scheduled for a fill tomorrow. Made myself some hot tea. Hopefully I'm not irritated.

So I just had my 10th fill, lost another 5 lbs! Down a total of 46 lbs since surgery 6 months ago! When the lady did my fill today under fluro, she said all I could hold was .3 cc's. just curious as to what that means???? It didn't really register with me what she said until I had already left. Any ideas as to what she means??? Thanks y'all!

Well I went in for my 4th fill and I'm currently at 8.0 cc with a 14cc band. I have a feeling that this may be it ! I hope I will be to my green zone. I only lost 3.0 lbs . Not much. I struggled this last month. She added 1.5 cc. I have to stop at 1/2 cup and just suck it up if I'm still hungry . I'm going to do this like a champion. I'm on liquids today and it's not bad at all. I'm still working out though. I guess I'm goin through bandster hell that I read abt !

Oh, I was so relieved today once it was over. After the unsuccessful attempt on Monday in the office, we finally had luck today with fluoro. My port was nowhere NEAR where I thought it was. But the IR doc had no issue finding it/accessing it, and then my surgeon did my fill. The whole process was really just kinda weird feeling. He put so much in the band and then had me drinking water. I definitely got to experience what being stuck feels like, because that water would NOT budge. He slowly started taking saline out, until I felt better and could feel the water passing through. I ended up with 2cc in my 10cc band today. I feel pretty good tonight! I have to go back in a m…

I went in today to see my surgeon for my first fill. I'm 4 weeks post op, and have done pretty well since my surgery. He expressed to me concerns at my first post op visit (3 weeks ago) that he was afraid he would have issues hitting my port this first time because my stomach is/was quite large. I've lost a significant amount of weight in my belly and I can feel my port, but we had no luck today trying to access it. He definitely tried (and I think he felt defeated, he said he's only not been able to access a port a couple times in the past), but after four pokes with that GIANT 4-5" needle, I had to have him stop. I was in tears (again, he said he'd never made a patient …

Hi I am new, nothing scheduled yet but doing a lot of learning. So my question is about eating out. We tend to eat out A LOT. Reading how much the portion size changes do you guys order off the kids menu? I couldn't imagine spending $15 inn dinner to only eat a few bites. Also, I read people drinking mik shakes. I LOVe milkshakes. So is it really a matter of cutting down on portion sizes?? Thanks ...I really want to know exactly what I will have to do after surgery.

What are some of the funniest, craziest, zaniest things people have told you about your band or your weight loss? I would like to make a list to include in my blog....(NO names will be given!!) Here are a few of mine...I think they are crazy because even though I lost 67 lbs I am still considered obese by the weight charts (Just goes to show PERSPECTIVE is everything. I look great compared to where I have been, but I am still fat people!!) 1. You look like you are melting! 2. Bean pole! 3. You are average sized now! 4. If you just stay like this you will be great. 5. I can tell you feel better about yourself because you are not hiding your hair in a knot anymore. …

I am 2 months post op and I absolutely hate veggies. Sure I have the occasional salads (lettuce sits fine with me) I like onions, potatos, tomatos and corn for the most part. Anything green, I've tried, even after my surgery and ended up vomiting. I need some advice because I've noticed my weightloss has stalled and I'm getting frustrated because I know it's because of my diet. Please help!

I have a fairly tight band, so I can't easily eat a lot of foods. I'm very happy with the tightness which seems to be my "green zone" since I am able to eat full meals if I sit down, take my time, etc. The problem is that sometimes, with no apparent cause, I wake up choking and it's really unpleasant since it's left over liquid or traces of food that never went down before I sleep. It doesn't seem to matter if I don't eat late, don't drink a lot before sleeping, etc. The only thing that helps is if I take a big gulp of soda before bed and bring up anything left that didn't go down. Like I said, this is usually liquid or traces of food but it's really different from …

I'm still researching, but one of my fears is that I'll opt for WLS and I'll be hungry all the time, then the hunger overwhelms the surgery and undoes any good it might offer. Seen too many people revert to their old ways. I realize any method is only a chance to help and the tough mental part is my job, but does the lap band help to control hunger or appetite? That's where I could really use the help.

Yay got home and am officially a bandster! Surgery went great, very impressed with my experience and I feel great! In fact, I felt good enough to stop by another hospital on the way home to see a family member who had a heart-valve replacement today. Sipping on some soup broth and moving all about. Let the Journey begin!

I had my band put in back in 2005, so I've had it for quite awhile...I've never lost and significant amount of weight. 20 lbs maybe? I got pregnant in 2010 and started having pain in my port area around 12 weeks...I got pretty bad towards the end of my pregnancy I felt like the port area was RIPPING from my body. Everytime I sat down, stood up, rolled over or got in/out of bed it would I would get that ripping feeling. Awful. After I had my son, my Bariatric Dr had me get an upper GI and some other test I don't recall the name of (they did have to put me under for it)....the results of the rest? Everything is fine. Well my port area still hurt...it felt like i…

Have any of you fell off the wagon in a holiday spiral? I think I gained about 2-3 pounds over the last 2-3 weeks. Started with my thanksgiving baking, then 2 turkey dinners, my birthday (which included plenty of empty calories) and period cravings I'm at the tail end so hopefully some of the gain is Water... I have been back on good behaviour since yesterday and have a 5 week check up tmrw which will clearly not go well. I've lost 30 (well, I was). pounds since may 10th, and feel really proud of myself overall.... Just helps to hear others talk about what they overcome.

Was banded May 9,2013. Got my first fill 4 weeks later. I did great until my 3rd fill in Aug. I was a little too tight and having reflux pretty bad and wasn't able to get my food down. So went to the dr and had some fluid removed and immediately began to feel better, then about two weeks after that I got an awful stomach virus and was terribly sick for over a week. During this time I had more fluid removed to give my stomach a chance to heal and settle down from the virus and throwing up so much. We'll that was five weeks ago. I just went in today for an adjustment. I had gained 3 lbs, which didn't really surprise me since I lost almost 10 lbs in 6 days while I was sick. …

I'm having some issues and would like input. I haven't had a fill for months. Most days I have no problem eating but then there are several days that my band gets so tight I can only drink. If I try to eat on those days I get sick. I've also noticed since I've had the band mornings and evenings my band gets tight making it difficult to eat solid food. Has any body had these issues? Any recommendations? I work in stressful corporate America and I know stress can cause tightens. I just don't understand why this keeps occurring.

It's hard not to compare yourself to other banded people that got banded around the time I did. I've lost 39.7 lbs since April and I understand that it's wonderful but it's hard not to think why haven't I lost 70 or 80 lbs in 6 months. Maybe it's different body types that lose faster or it's they are working out more a week and more intense. Lol I don't know I just had to let that out :-)

I am having major stomach acid problems. No reflux but I am nauseous. Most days after lunch I have diarrhea. I am narrowing that down to starches. Is this a sign of band slippage or just bad digestion? I don't go back to the doctor until Nov 14th and I'm not sure if this warrants a earlier visit.

Hi there! Newbie here and not real sure how this works. I had band placement surgery on 9/30/13. So far I feel great except for a little soreness at my port incision and ab soreness when I move certain ways. I am so over the liquid diet but have to stay on it until 10/30. I have my first fill scheduled on 11/11 and I can't wait to get this band working. On my first visit to the Sarasota memorial hospital comprehensive bariatric program I was 290#. At the time of surgery I was 284#. Now at the 15 day post surgery mark I'm at 264#. Not sure what else to say here right now but this seems like a cool way to hear about others experiences with the band at about the same place…

Here are the lists that my nutritionist gave to me for the different stages of eating after having surgery. The moderator may want to make this thread a sticky for those who don't get defined lists, as I've noticed a lot of questions about this topic in the past. *STAGE 1 - liquids START: When you return home from your surgery DURATION: For 2 weeks post surgery, or until your next dietitian appointment. DIET: Clear and full liquids GOAL: Aim for at least 64 ounces of Fluid for the day by continuous sipping. LIQUIDS RECOMMENDED: Water 100% fruit juice (No sugar added) Bouillon Strained Soups or broths Skim or 1% milk Soy milk Milk shakes - thinned Gat…

After having all my fluid removed in July and slowly filling my band, I think my fill last Monday might have put me at a good restriction...dare I say, my sweet spot! I was a horrible eater during my time without fluid so I am happy to see the scale moving in the right direction! It goes to show that I am one that NEEDS my band!

Hello Everyone. This week I had a unusual experience. I have been losing weight consistently since May when I began my journey, in fact I am down almost 100 pounds which I am very pleased with. Last week was only the second time since I have started my weight loss that I hit a plateau were I did not lose a pound. This is not unusual as most people who have lost weight will go through plateaus. What is unusual about mine is that this past weekend I flew back to my hometown for the weekend. I was going to check out a business opportunity and to see family. I am in the restaurant business and I was up looking at a new restaurant to purchase. This meant sampling many differen…

I'm 3 1/2 months post op & I have a 10cc band & I'm at 7.2cc so frustrating because I haven't lost a large amount of weight because I'm not at the green zone...I have starting riding my bike & walking almost everyday & trying to eat healthy but geez I got the lapband so I won't be hungry all the time & eat less but just isn't happening for me I know it's a slow process and I'm losing inches not a lot of weight and I know loosing weight slower is better but it is so frustrating. When people know I've had the LapBand done they expect me to lose a lot of weight or to be skinny. I hate eating around people because I still or looks like I still eat the …

So, normally I sleep on my side or side/stomach, but a few times since I got my band, when I woke up in the morning, I had been sleeping on my back most of the night (according to my husband). On those days, my band felt much tighter. I had trouble swallowing pills, drinking my protein shake in the morning, etc. Yesterday was one of those days, and it was REALLY tight! I got a fill last Wednesday, the 16th, and he put in 1 cc. This was my second fill, and he had originally put in 1 1/2 cc, but when he had me try to drink water, and it took too long to go down, he took out 1/2 cc. I had been doing fine up until yesterday. I hadn't had a stuck episode or anything, bu…

Hello everyone! I'm actually from Northern Kentucky, but I'd love to be part of the group and offer any support I can. I was banded in 2008 in Cincinnati with Dr. Trace Curry. I started at 285 lbs and got down to 130 lbs. Currently, I'm 170 lbs - but I just had my first child 9 weeks ago and I'm working to lose the weight I've gained during my pregnancy. Getting the band was the greatest decision I've made in regards to my health and weight. In the beginning I had a lot of problems, but they were all my fault. Please feel free to ask me any questions or just spark conversation! I love helping others and learning things from you all. Thanks!

Hi there, pre-op and have been weaning off of supplements prior to banded life not long from now. There are the giant chalky calcium/mag/zinc I can barely get down now, SAMe, etc. Arthritis is way up, however, and I realize it's because I stopped the big fish oil capsules, too -- guess I really need those. Any one here found a liquid form that is band-friendly or other method for delivery? Guess while I'm on shakes I could pour it in there but then it's a whole cup of blech......any advice from those who need to take supplements is very welcome!

Hello Fellow Bandsters!! I was banded on 10/1 and doing pretty good so far, I have my first fill next week on 10/28 and kinda nervous about it. I don't have an appetite most days and have to force myself to eat, and my doctor advised me that I am not getting enough Protein so I have to eat a little smarter. I guess I wanna know what should I expect to feel about my adjustment. Will I feel a tightness or fullness sensation? Will I have even less of an appetite? I know everyone's body and reactions are different but can some of you who recently had your first fill tell me what you experienced afterwards?

Really struggling with eating more food and fear of gaining weight. Veterans- I need help

I made this post about 5 years ago on another site a few years ago and it was very helpful to newbies so I thought I would post it here "Disclaimer, this is from my OWN journey and also seeing thousands of other lap banders journeys over the years" 1. If you drink COLD liquids or cold things the band will tighten up. 2. If you drink hot liquids the band will loosen up. 3. Most women that have menstrual cycles tissues around the band will tighten therefore causing the band to tighten up while menstruating and then loosen up right before or after a cycle. 4. The band will tighten if you get stressed about something, always leave a little wiggle room for unexpected…
