Hi bandsters, i was banded in january 2012 and im down almost 100 lbs. i had my last unfill August 2 due to it being to tight and not being able to eat at all. My next fill appt is October 14, I have Been on a couple of vacations and can tell I've gained weight probably 10 pounds so I'm very discouraged and upset with my self, has anyone else fell off the wagon and with the fill should be able to get back on track right ??

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has tried that 5 day pouch diet? Can it work for us? I had the plicated band surgery almost two years ago. I lost 50 lbs pretty quickly and then it was as if my body got wind of what was happening and said, 'hey- no more!' I plateaued for months but then started to slowly gain 12 pounds back and I am panicking. I have had two fills since my surgery and feel comfortable with the band tightness..any tighter and I feel like everything and it's uncle gets stuck! I RAN my first 5k this weekend and feel great, but ..I need to 'reboot my system' ..so to speak! Saw something about that 5 day thing and thought maybe that would help?

An six weeks post op and am down 30lbs since my surgery. Is this too much? Will it slow down soon? I am not worried or anything but just want to know if anyone else has had this much of a weight loss this quickly that started out about the same weight as me. I started at 257 and now I am 226!!! I am extremely happy but just curious...I am going back home to visit my family in three weeks and I had a goal to lose 30 lbs before I went and I have reached my vet first weight loss goal and couldn't b happier and even happier that I may exceed my goal in the next three weeks!!! YAY!!! Love my lap band

Ok, my fill went great with no unexpected issues. However, I gained .4 pounds!! Totally not happy with that but my doctor says it is to be expected and she is pleased with my continued loss of inches. I must increase my motivation to get to the gym and partner my workouts with the work of the lapband for some true success.. I refuse to go backward any longer.. I really need some food types also because mostly I'm mot hungry for anything so a can of Soup is my usual, just too high in sodium. Time to search out some tips, I'm opinion to all input.. .

hello, Dec 20 will mark 3 years since my LAGB surgery. I lost about 40 lbs and stayed the same for sooooooo long. Got my last fill in June. And within the last couple months (started school, started going to gym more, activity level increased greatly, less time to eat) I have really started to crawl out of my slump and start using the the band to it's full potential once again. I have lost about 25 lbs in the last 8 weeks or so. My problem is, I always had a bit of GERD issues, but the past month or so (and even more the past week or so) have been having a lot of it-I usually start coughing when it starts, and can't stop coughing until I take zantac or pepcid. I can…

Saw my surgeon last week and he wants me to progress to normal foods. He didn't have to tell me twice! So, I packed up my family and we went to my favorite pizza place. They all shared a pizza....I had one slice of thin crust veggie pizza. ONE SLICE, not four. And I was satisfied. I chewed it to oblivion and ate super slowly. But the fact that I was able to sit there and eat a single slice and be completely fine with is was amazing to me. It was also my first real "this really ISNT a diet" moment! So happy!!!!

I have been religiously tracking my calories with my fitness pal. It's been awesome. But how do you add something when you have no clue how to?? Like tonight, I ate my mom's sweet and sour chicken....she makes healthy adjustments for my dad so it was good for me too. But when I search for it using MFP, the only ones that come up are restaurant listings. And the calories are all over the place! So what do you guys do in a situation like this??

I know right now i shouldn't be too concerned or worried about where the number on the scale is especially considering i'm not even 2wks post op yet.. BUT... i started eating mushes this weekend and have been in heaven with the scrambled eggs, cauliflower etc etc but this morning show'd that i had actually gained weight. Firstly i was shocked at how much that gain affected me all i wanted to do was to climb back into bed and hide. i'm sure i'm not alone and this weight fluctuation is perfectly normal as my body adjusts but it was still quite shocking to see a number i was never expecting....

I was diagnosed in '07 as being bipolar, mild, not severe and given a cocktail of meds, along with this disease I suffer from severe insomnia so mostly my symptoms are that along with mild depression. I take Klonopin, Saphris and Zonisamide. All has been going great and no I don't have manic episodes everything was going great up until about a month ago I noticed my moods have changed. I have just celebrated my first year on the site and have been banded since Aug. 2, 2012. Everything was going well in the beginning until the first fill in Oct. 2012. When I went they couldn't locate the port correctly and it was determined my port had flipped. I contacted my clinic and they said they would have to do a port relocation surgery and it would be at their expense, but I would have to pay my own way there. I had to have the surgery in Toronto, ON and I live in Yellowknife, NT - not a quick commute. I had to wait until the end of May 2013 to have the surgery and in that time I felt no restriction and was not losing any more than what I had leading up to …

  18. I remember it being difficult when I had to do it for two weeks before surgery but the reasoning behind doing it (shrinking your liver to allow easier access for surgery) made me feel more motivated I guess you can say. I just got filled for the third time and the past 24 hours on clears has sucked! I so want to cheat. How long does your doc keep you on clears after a fill?

I've gotten down to 210 and over the last few weeks have gotten careless in my eating habits and have gained a few pounds. I get frustrated because I know the band works different for everybody but I see people reach their goals in 6 - 9 months. I do believe not rushing to get the weight off has helped with the excess skin but I'm so ready to get to my goal weight of 185! 30. I am 2 1/2 months newly banded and so far I am down 47 lbs including preop . I just got my 3 rd fill and I hope this month is much better . My doctor said I was eating too much processed carbs so I need more protein. My problem is I need some sample meal plans to help me plan my weeks to eat better. Any suggestions or websites ? I'm also using My Fitness Pal which has been part of my success too! I stay at 1000 calories but normally don't eat but abt 600-800 on average .

I've spent the day needlessly concerned. After reading thread about (my band was my worst mistake ever) I had my third fill on monday felt fine. Knew it wasn't anywhere near my band but was really concerned it could be related- due to horror stories. I've suffered loose discs in my back for yrs and the ins…

Hi, everyone. I just got my 4th fill. I am at 10cc in a 14 band. I definitely feel full after eating a little. Much different then the other fills. I totally fell off the wagon months ago. I have my head in the right direction now. It does bother me that I have had my band almost a year and only lost 21 lbs. That's all my fault though. I didn't listen or obey the rules. Then I see people that are going on a year at 50-80 lbs lost. That could of been me!! Well I am back and I really am excited to lose this weight. I got my fill on Friday and I already lost 2 lbs! I am just curious to see at what amount of cc"s till you felt you were in the green zone?

Just posted this in post op but I need as much feedback as possible ! : So I'm having the hardest time deciding this ... All I want is a cup of coffee. My doctors office told me it increases the risk of stomach cancer to have caffeine. But I know SO many banders that drink coffee ! Tomorrow I have to work from 7:30am to 10pm and I don't know how ill survive. Can 1 cup really hurt ? I was banded sept 6th so it's a little over 2 weeks. What do you guys think? Any coffee drinkers out there ?

I asked about the exact reasons for the post-fill diet restrictions and I was told by my PA that if I ate solids right away after a fill it could become stuck or I could vomit (which obviously no one wants to do). I follow a pretty strict post-fill diet and I just want to understand the specifics - the stomach is swollen after a fill, correct? And I understand that going slow and reintroducing the phases of food slowly is safe because each person experiences levels of restriction differently. Can anyone expand on this? My post fill diet is as follows: 3 days of Clear liquids 1 week of high Protein liquids and puréed foods (I can have yogurt, Protein shakes, sf puddin…

  48. Hi All, I know that everyone says white flour products tend to stick in the band (not for all but for some) , what about gluten free products do these stick as well. Is it more the consistancy of what you eat or is there certain ingredients that simply don't go down well? So far Im just in my liquid stage (soups now) and of course not had to worry about sticks yet but I am trying to prepare to eat properly.
