It's been nearly a year since my last fill. And I switched to a new doctor for fills. Anyway my band was missing .4 cc. It was supposed to have 3.1cc in it and only 2.7 came out. So that's kind of odd. I've never had that happen in my 6 years with the band. It could be why I felt like I needed a fill and was loose. Also- the new Dr. does fills so differently. He connects a longer needle to my port, then a long hard plastic tube then a syringe with the saline. And he fine tunes the fill from there, leaving me connected while I swallowed Water to see if it went down. My previous Dr would just give me a shot in my port. So what's the norm these days for fills…

I was told I could drink right up to my mealtime but then had to wait an hr after. I read somewhere, where it's necessary to have an empty pouch, no liquid in it, why?

good morning..just a question for all the banders out there. I either swallowed something too fast or something too big because now I can feel discomfort . it does not hurt when swallow ...it hurts as the food goes further down. I can also feel it when I stretch and open my arms wide. I feel like something is irritated and I can feel it when I take a deep breath. Any advice?

Hello fellow bandsters! Went in for fourth fill yesterday, was able to drink water afterwards but once I got home I couldn't drink anything without feeling pain. Today, things became worse! They even sent me home from work. I cannot drink anything. Called the doctor, and I'm going in for an unfill early tomorrow morning. The nurse told me to try ice chips. This is the worst feeling ever.

Banded 11/2012. Last fill 5/2013 and no problems until abt two wks ago. Always feels like there is mucus in my throat and seem to slime a lot. Now I have thrown up in my sleep as well as throwing up hard after I eat anything solid. Cannot even do more than sip water. Takes hours to drink a bottled protein shake and most times I spit it up a little at a Time until it is all back up. Any ideas on the problem. I do have an apptmt with dr but I am pretty worried right now. Hope haven't. Messed up my band or esophagus.

I'm excited because tomorrow I will be getting my first fill. My doctors PA uses fluoroscope to do the fills. I'm a little nervous but mostly looking forward to hopefully getting some restriction. I'm happy that I've lost even after the carb filled mushy phase. I hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi, I was feeling great with the restriction and amount I would eat and stay not hungry. I then started having some reflux issues when I laid down and dr found it was too tight. He removed .5cc and fixed reflux overnight but I feel like can eat too much and more importantly hate the hungry feeling. Anyhow those that are in green I wondered if it's literally like a .1 or .2cc difference to be there? It seems like .5cc isn't that much out but it seems like making big difference. I forget how much I have in my band (realize) but it's within a few cc of capacity. I had no restriction until it got pretty high. I'm going to ask for a fill for sure but appt isn't for 8…

Hi Guys- I am looking for some suggestions to slow down while eating and taking smaller bites.... I know it sound so simple, but I find myself oblivious to this rule when eating. I think about it before I eat to remind myself, and after when I feel miserable. I have had episodes of regurgitation recently, and it scares me. Just wondering how some of you have made this a habit during this journey? Thanks for your suggestions!

This is good feeling to be over 8 years post and feel like a "newbie" again, I have not had "great restriction in over 5 years, I had to "wing it" and "diet" with my old band because I would get reflux every time I would try to fill it optimally. I only experienced the "sweet spot" with my old 4cc band briefly in my 1st and 2nd year, and then got too tight, dilated my pouch (which was very easy to do with the old 4cc bands), and plus I had a hiatal hernia that made it tough for me to stay in the green zone "without reflux" so I kept my band on the loose side, I was still successful with my old band but -- I had to constantly be on acid reducers. I got rebanded last No…

AND IT WAS 1/2 of A F*ing TABLE WATER CRACKER! And it happened at work, which was more embarrassing because I was in the middle of talking to one of the new agents in my office who thought he would have to call 911 because he thought I was choking to death. in the 10 1/2 months I've been banded this has never happened to me quite like this, to the point when I was trying to get it out I practically had my fist down my throat. 2 hours later, I can still feel it...... I know we all like to talk the positives of the band, and believe me I have nothing more to do then rave about it, but seriously? a cracker? which I have had no problem eating until today (I sub cra…

I purchase a few cases of it, it's only 100 calories per little cup, and it's just SOOO good -- I get the orange flavor. I've replaced this with my past addiction to chocolate and it's seems to be a better addiction since now I am seeing the scale move consistently and I include it with my daily calorie count which is already pretty low.... I eat one every night after my small dinner before bed ... That's all I wanted to say.

I am looking for a LapBand Buddy. Doesn't necessarily have to be someone in SoCal but someone willing to share their success and defeats via e-mail and text. Someone who can swap photos of food and recepies. Encouraging each other and being a positive influence. We all slip up at some point and that's ok, I'm not perfect and not looking for a drill instructor. Man or woman, younger or older, doesn't matter, we already have a connection and something in common with the Band. Let me tell you about myself: 26 year old wife and mother of a 16 month old baby girl I do have encouragement in my life for the band but feel I could use someone in a similar situation on this j…

I'd like to prepare for my August surgery by trying to make it on two Protein shakes and 1 meal per day which is pretty much what my pre-op diet will look like. I'm getting my lap band through True Results Houston and they gave me samples of their branded powders which are pretty tasty if I doctor them up which I won't be able to do post-op. Anyone have any Protein Powders that they recommend?? Your imput is greatly appreciated. Happy Sunday!

I started this journey ONE year ago and while I am still down, the last 8 months have been a serious struggle. Within 3 months following my surgery, I rocked it and lost 50 lbs. I was on top of the world, feeling great, looking awesome. In January, I suffered the loss of my business due to a fire and since then, it's been nothing but downhill. The stress of the fire, the community rallying to support me through it, being in the public eye and ultimately rebuilding in a location that tripled my sales, has been the most stressful thing I've ever dealt with. Yes, tripling sales is awesome but with that comes tripling bills, and more headaches. In that process, my eatin…

Could I just say the "starting over" seems to be improving! I would have posted in my blog area but those are closed for the time being. I am excited I am losing some weight. I expect it will be slow as I am older and my metabolism is lower than many young people. However, I am equally excited by new things I am learning and practicing: One thing is that I am truly learning to listen to my stomach and not be as confused about when to stop eating. I am also learning to measure food, eat the amount you are supposed to even if you don't seem to feel any response by your band. I know these are two important lessons to learn but I didn't quite get them the first time a…

Long story short, I met with a new nutritionist at my surgical practice today and I was told that what my old nutritionist there taught me was wrong. I am to only eat Protein, veggies, and fruit. If I have dairy it has to be low fat, and I can't have nuts. I am a little mind-boggled at this point. I had previously been told to stay away from carbs as much as possible, but that nuts were a good snack and that when I have a meal I can have 4 oz. of meat, then a cup of veggies, then a 1/2 cup of carbs if I'm still hungry after that. I'm curious if anyone out there is following this way of eating at all. ETA: I was already doing what I considered to be an appropri…

I had my surgery about 10 months ago. I have been having a knot pain in my upper left shoulder blade for about 4 months off and on. More frequent then not. This past week it has been a lot more severe and painful. I have also had lower back pain a few times. It even put me down on the ground once. The last 24 hours I had the shoulder knot pain, middle back pain and lower. It is very uncomfortable. I never even thought it could be my lapband until recently. Could it? Has anyone else had this issue? I have been in more pain the last two days. Yes, I know. Got to doctor. I am planning on it. I moved from California to NE Houston about a month ago, s…

As my first fill today. Wasn't to bad. I have a 14 band and had 5cc in. So they added 2cc more. Was pretty easy. Weird part of appointment is that when they were looking for port with needed they found a seroma, fluid pocket that can happen when you have surgery like I did. They pulled about 10ccs of fluid out of my abdomen. What I thought was the port this whole time was the hard ball of fluid. Glad it didn't get infected. Overall a good appointment though.

I am 4 months post op. I have been doing well with my diet and band although on my last fill my dr didn't find my port right away like the last two fills he had to jam around then found it, ever since then I have had soreness around the area and it has been 4 weeks since that happened. I also have pain lower than my port but every once on awhile. My port is on my left side about 2-3 inches from my belly button and just above. Any suggestions or has this happened to anyone else?

I'm ready to restrict carbs, as I sleep so much better when I do and also I want to lose a little faster and not rely so much on the cc in my band. Today, just for the heck of it I used a ketostix I had from my last Atkins fail (my fault, not the diet) and I was FLOORED when the stick showed moderate KETOSIS!!!! I wasn't expecting that, since just yesterday I had a 1/3 of a chicken roll for an early dinner. I guess because of the caloric restriction in general, the body uses fat as a primary source of fuel. Soooooo, I'm actually/not-really already on "day 4" of Atkins, according to the stick. WONDERFUL!!

I had a fill about two weeks ago, which has put me at pretty good restriction yay! But, since this last fill, every time I eat something, the minute the first 2-4 bites that I take hit either the band or my stomach I start to feel this odd funny feeling in my stomach. It's not a burning sensation, I don't feel sick, it's just a weird yucky feeling... Anyone else experience that?? Should I be concerned?? Sorry I can't really explain the feeling!

Hi all, For the last 4 days, my band has been mysteriously tight. I first noticed it Friday. Since then, I've eaten very little - nowhere near the recommended 1 cup of food per meal. I find I have no appetite and when I do eat a little Protein, I feel significant discomfort around what I imagine is where my band is & in my left shoulder. I have also been experiencing acid reflux beginning today. I've had my band nearly 2 years now & there have been occasions when it's been tight but none lasting this long or being this severe. Typically it's been tight if I've been really stressed out or sick. I may be experiencing a little stress but nothing anymore signific…
