Hi, I've had to have Fluid removed from my band as I couldn't eat much of anything The surgeon removed 3 1/2 and I can eat! I know I'll have to be careful but as I'm haveing to re-learn healthy eating I decided to make it easier on myself. If I can't cope i'll just have to restrict again. My query is, is it normal for my stomach to feel sore? I can eat and drink but I'm achy and sore where the band is. I'm scaring myself by thinking 'corrosion'! Thanks peeps xx

Hey Guys, I've been distant on this site for a while. I've been dealing with so much stress lately, I feel it's taking it's toll on my band! I was banded May 3rd of this year, I am down 20 lbs...that's it! I feel I should be losing much more than this. I've lost all motivation due to everything else going on in life, it seems excerising just gets away from me. I started at 316 lbs and am barely holding onto 296, i'm so frustrated I could scream right now. I really have no one to turn to talk about it. I go in next week for another fill, i currently have 7.5 cc in a 14 cc band and I feel absolutely NO RESTRICTION! It's so annoying.. when I get my fills I feel restricti…

Soooooooo...how are we all doing on the Halloween Candy front? lol I'm REALLY proud of myself so far! We've got entirely too much candy in this house waiting for trick or treaters, and I've only eaten ONE small piece of it. One of those little two bite kit kats. And I know I should technically be like OH NO! I SHOULDN'T BE EATING CANDY! But considering last year I would sit there and polish off half a bag all by myself...I think I've shown pretty good restraint! ^.^

I had my band done a little over a year ago on 7/3/2012, last October I developed a lump over my port, which turned into a weeping sore. Well short story is I had developed MRSA and had to have my now infected port removed. I had a new port put in this May and now, I've developed another open wound over my new port. This one doesn't look infected but won't heal and my doctor is worried about it. I am afraid if this little hole won't heal the doctor is going to have to remove my band. Anyone else had a problem like this?

I'm looking down the barrel of a full band replacement. I've had two port revision surgeries already in the last year - one where they replaced the port and tubing and one where they didn't, not that it made a difference to my recovery at all. The operations were tough on me. The anesthesia knocked me around, and I had significant swelling in my stomach, but I suspect it was because he'd done it all via one incision in the middle of my belly (through my old body lift scar). Now I'm looking at a full band replacement due to the fact that my band is still leaking. I am looking for anyone who has had a full band replacement who might give me an idea on recovery. And if y…

  13. I made the mistake of being cocky and thinking "I've got this!" since I hit the green zone after my third fill. If an appointment was made for me in August, I missed it and they didn't give me a reminder call. So I scheduled an appointment for September 30th, got busy at work and didn't go because I was still going for 4 hours on a small amount of food. Well this week it hit me that I'm eating much more than I should and that I'm making poor food choices. I'm afraid I can't tell if I'm in the green zone anymore and I'm falling back into bad habits (the tops of 3 slices of pizza for dinner last night, a McDonald's filet of fish AND medium fries for lunch today - YIKES!…

all you fellow food addicts, watch out when it comes to slipping back into bad habits. I found myself doing so under unbelievable circumstances. Picture this....I'm a week post op from bilateral hip replacement. The pain is horrific, I can barely move, am on oxycodone round the clock...and find myself snacking on Cookies in the hospital and rehab. I did that for a few days and then stopped being stupid and started to say no to the snack lady. This was a good lesson for me as it let me know that no matter the circumstances, once an addict, always an addict.

I wonder what everyones views is on this. I personally tell everyone I am going for LapBand, I'm a naturally lazy person so if I start losing weight drastically with no gym membership, I don't assume people are stupid. I know a few people who have either done band or sleeve and they don't tell ANYONE about the surgery they just make people think they lost weight naturally on their own. What does everyone think about people who lie about going for surgery? Does everyone you know, know about your surgery? What about the surgery embarasses people that they feel the need to hide it?

But I finally admitted to my husband a secret reason I want to lose weight. It's silly and I felt dumb telling him but he laughed and encouraged me. I love that man!! My secret reason: I want to be able to dress up as a solid gold dancer for Halloween next year!! Anyone else want to share!?!

The office is in an oppressive state today. It’s that time of the year, budgets are on the table and belts are being tightened. It’s a necessary step in the corporate culture, there is a certain amount of housekeeping that needs to be done. Going through the cupboards taking inventory of the stock on the shelves as we head into the winter months. They are known for being the lean months of the year, where resources tend to be scarce and harder to find. In our world of fast food and instant gratification, our resources are all but scarce we can travel out our door to the nearest corner store and find just about all we need to last us through a long winter. Well, I think it has finally happened but I'm not sure. I'm at a travel convention and normally I can eat whatever I want but am careful of my calorie count. So, normally, I still may feel a little hungry and have to play a head game to tell me I've had enough. Well, two days in a row I have literally had to stop eating after a few bites of food. I feel if I take another bite I'll get sick or stuck. This has happened for two days in a row and I'm not hungry! That's a good thing right? For all you newbies it does not happen overnight. I was banded 12/28/12. I have had 8 fills (my doctor is very conservative with his fills). Anyway, I'm hoping this is the green zone beca…

Feeling all great cause I lost another 7 pounds and ready to get my fill....Well, hold that thought because my doctor had trouble getting the needle into the port. Off to X-Ray I go to make sure everything is okay, low and behold my internal stitches have separated and my port is backwards!! I was devastated.....bless my doctor cause she felt so bad for me since she had to explain the only way to fix it is another surgery that takes about 15 minutes.. She says this sometimes happens or with my exercise I pulled to hard and they separated. I'm still somewhat crushed about this and just don't know what to do next.. Has this happened to anyone else??

I was told it was gas pains but that was after surgery & then after that they said it was a nerve that was near the band that sends signals to the brain when we're full. I went for my fill yesterday and they would not give me a fill because I was complaining about the shoulder pain The nurse said I had a go see a cardiologist & I was like WTH it's not chest pains it's shoulder pain that goes away the same pain after surgery and the same pain that I've explained to the nurse and…

Am three weeks post op from bilateral hip surgery. Continuing my recuperation down here in Florida. As I noted in my prior post, my hips and legs are very swollen and I was not at all surprised to see that I am about ten lbs. heavier than when I weighed myself prior to surgery. I was told the swelling would take weeks to subside so I'll keep away from the scale as it will not be of any help right now. I've been eating a lot of processed foods since leaving the hospital and rehab as no one has felt like cooking so I determined if I could maintain during this time recuperating, I'd consider myself successful. Now that I am at my folks, I've been able to go back to hea…

As many of you know, I was stuck for more than a month. I was monitoring my calories, getting in all my Protein and exercising, yet the scale didn't budge. I know, plateaus are normal, but they still suck. Around the time the plateau hit I also started taking birth control pills. I even gained 2 pounds, which for me was the deal breaker. I had to find a way to break the plateau and start losing again. So I started researching. Low carb, high carb, no carb, etc. I see so many variations on here! What's right? What's wrong? I already knew it was a matter of choice without a clear right or wrong answer, but I also knew individual body needs also played a very big…

Even if she didn't want to say anything, she could have said how great I looked. But nothing! Later that evening, I saw my brother in law, his reaction wasn't a wow you look good. I just started back exercising 4 days a week/1hr a day after my 2 month hiatus/off and on working out. So im super restricted and I experienced my first real food issue. 41. I have had my first fill and I didn't feel any different. Im not going mad because my doctor said often times it can take up to 4 fills on average before you get to the green zone of eating 1 cup of food and feeling full. This makes me frustrated because i was under the impression that after you get the surgery the fills were more of maintaining. I didn't know you basically start at zero and each fills builds you up to eventually where you need to be. The soonest my doctor will allow me to get fills are 30 days apart… so this means if it takes 4 fills before i get the maximum benefits of this surgery this means i don't get to "experience" the true benefits of getting full…
