Hi Courtney, sorry you are having a hard time. The headaches may be from detoxing -- you may feel much better tomorrow on day 3 as the first couple of days are the most difficult. But it sounds like the shakes don't agree with you -- that's not good...and of course it's the first day of a three day weekend. Is there any one to call? Are you doing clear liquids, too? Plenty of water, broth, etc.? You should be fine on reduced protein and calories but your body is adjusting and that is tough. You can do this -- nice liver cleanse prior to the surgery and a side benefit of some initial weight loss as well.

Your headache could be related to dehydration also. Try to sip Water to be sure to stay properly hydrated. Withdrawal from caffiene can also precipitate a severe headache.

This is a good time to find a type of Protein shake that you can tolerate or even like, as periodically you may have to return to a liquid diet after your band is placed.

There are many options, some research and tasting should help.

im trying too. i sip water because if i try to drink too much i gag... i truly feel like im coming off hard drugs... i was just talking to some one on another site and they recomended the special k protien water mixes for inbetween the shakes... it weird, i dont have any "craving" for food, im just hungry. :( i really dont want to screw anything up.. especially since im self pay and have been saving for this for years. im so glad to have this site and people like you to talk to.. i have a great support system at home but they dont truly understand, my fiance is a twig and eats 3 times more then i ever have. but hes trying so hard to help to the point that toinight he drank a protien shake with me... i found out he gorged on food right before he came home lol. but hes trying. i started crying because he so sweet and so .... simple lol but back to IM HUNGRY!!! lol i looked at a can of tuna is low cal, hiigh protien, so monday im going to call the doctors office and ask if maybe i can have one can a night or somthing... ive seen a few people on here say they would have two eggs or a lean steak at night... shoot ill even settle for raw spinach. i just need something solid that wont make me throw up.

Hi Courtney, can you get Water down?? Try sf popsicles and sf Jello you definitely do not want to dehydrate. Is there a Protein drink that you like?? Or really thin out the shakes that you use?? I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder and can add it to anything...crystal light, broth and I even made sf protein jello. I hope you feel better.

omg thank you for using the un flavored unjury i got it and i had it in trop50 orange juice yesterday morning.... but i had to thin it out A LOT how is it in other things???

First, congrats on getting the band. Sorry you're not doing well. Did you call your doctor or dietitian and ask for their help? They know best.

For shakes, I use 8 oz. milk (which ever one you like) 1 scoop Body Fortress (chocolate only), a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice. They are great. I have been having them for 1 1/2 years now. I had a fill today so I am on liquids until Monday, so I will be drinking quite a few of these over the weekend. My doctor does 3 days liquid, 3 days mushy and then back to solids. Every doctor has their own rules.

Feel better.

The tuna or spinach may be too heavy for your

"new" stomach and may either hurt or make you vomit. Can you drink energy drinks such as G2??

well remeber im not banded yet. im only on the pre-op diet. i wish there was a way i could go to a store and test differnt protien shakes lol... i cant afford to buy too many to try...

i use the unjury vanilla flavor with crystal light flavor packet. mix with water. are you on a weight loss diet prior to surgery because the doctor wants you to lose a certain amount of weight? if so try cutting out all carbs but eating protein and vegetables and fruit. watch how much you eat but eat normal food.

You can add the Unjury to just about any liquid. You just can't add it to a liquid that is over 140 degrees or else it congeals. Crystal light, energy drinks, chicken broth etc.

one more suggestion. you will be using protein drinks after surgery. buy them on amazon.com. it is cheaper. they have a product called nectar. it is really good tasting protein. i wish you lots of luck. continue to use us.

Is there a GNC near you? They have a very consumer friendly refund policy on all of their products, and several excellent choices that meet the nutritional needs of bariatric patients.

I use their Wheybolic Extreme Protein powder ( half portion), mix it with 1% milk and add ice in the blender. I actually like the taste of the chocolate and Cookies n cream.

This journey does become easier with time.

Best wishes for a successful journey...

Hi Courtney it is better to try different thing now not a lot just try different ones I did musle ilk and now I have found a protein drink called core 26 grams of protein , or go to a vitamin shop and ask if they have any protein shakes you can try as you are going to have surgery and some taste nasty so now is the time to experiment, also I was able to have ground turkey and chicken like 2 tbsp., on a salad at night with lemonjuice and distilled white vinegar till 3 days before surgery but I had to have 2-3 protein shakes in a day before the salad at night and I was starving it takes time mind and body wise I cried and wanted to bite peoples heads off I was so hungry lol but it is paying off and I am more active and healthy ,so remember what your going through now is not going to be easy afterward either as we have to work at it for each and every one of our results and goals we want , good luck and hope it gets better for you.
