CONFLICTED...My Lap Band Story...
I would look at it as a good thing. If it's possible then now you will have a better band then they had available 5 years ago (which is when I got mine). Plus insurance is willin to pay. Maybe it was a sign to wait. I think you should do what is in your heart. After seeing how your friend has been doing do you think it's worth it? If so, and your heart is telling you to move forward then I would do it! Good luck

UPDATE
So I have not had restriction in quite a while. I finally gave up on getting fills and stopped going for a few years. Well I recently went back and found out that I had 3.2 cc in my band (which holds a max of 4cc). He filled me to 3.4, did not get me to green zone so he filled me to 3.6. I don't know if it is going to take or not but he told me that if not, he will schedule me for an upper GI. Then he will fill me until my band is completely closed and then slowly unfill while I drink barium until i'm where I need to be. It finally feels like there is an answer, i'm SO EXCITED!

Max fill but no restriction
I just got a fill Monday. I am at 3.4 cc and the max my band can hold is 4cc. I want to go back for another fill because i'm in the same boat but I am worried that he won't do it. Good luck and keep us updated on what's going on. You're not alone.

Need support, trying to re-commit to do it this time
Wow! I wish I could help you. Truth is your story is almost EXACTLY like mine. In fact I recently came back to the board after a few years of being away. I got a fill last Monday and he said I had a lot in my band and he barely put in anything. I am calling back today to get another fill but I don't know if he is going to do it. Good luck!

Help! Need advice
So I went to fill dr. and he was suprised that I had 3.2 in my band without being in the green zone. He was hesitant but filled me to 3.4. I"m afraid if I go back he won't put any more in. What do I do? What should I tell him.

Can my band really only hold 4cc
I agree, I switched because he was SO MUCH closer than my other dr. and a whole lot less busy. Easier to get in when I needed too. Guess I will be switching back!

Can my band really only hold 4cc
So I went to a new Dr. for a fill today and he pulled out what I had in my band and said that it was mostly full already. He said I had the old band and it can only hold 4cc's and right now i'm at 3.4. Then he tried to convince me to convert to the sleeve. Could it be possible that my band can only hold 4cc? I got it about 5 years ago.

How did you change your mindset?
I realize that food is WAY to important to me. Almost an obsession. My meals are what I look forward to most every day. Thinking about what sounds good and what i'm going to have as opposed to what is healthy. I know i'm not alone out there, how did you change your mindset to where food is not an event or the thing to look forward to most that day?

Advice Needed!
Ok so I eat till I feel restriction (usually not a lot of food). Then I stop, clean up the plate and then litterally 5 minutes later i'm hungry again. It is almost like I stand up and the food goes thru the band. What do I do? Do I need a fill?

Back on the LAP BAND wagon
Well it has been years since I have been on the board but I decided I needed to start reutilizing my band. Before I was just doing it on my own and yo-yo dietiing. Suddenly I realize that I have this tool and I might as well use it. However, I have a few problems maybe you guys can help me with. 1. Eating out with friends and family is a big deal to me. Not everyone knows i'm banded. How do I go out to eat and eat a significantly smaller portion size without people being curious? 2. Anyone pregnant with the band. Does the band show on an ultrasound? Did your port stick out? I am not pregnant yet, I want to get back down to my goal weight and be healthy before I do. How will the band effect my future pregnancy? Will my obgyn need to know? How will the band come into play (other than making sure hte baby gets enough nutrition)

Uh-Oh...Should I be a good girl or not????
In one week I am getting Breast Augmentation. Ok...so I KNOW I KNOW that the doc says to completely unfill before surgery (incase you vomit and what not). But my doctor has prescribed TWO anti-nausea medicines so I think i'll be ok. I have been unfilled before and have never gotten back to the point of restriction that I needed to be at. What would you do? Do you think i'll be ok or do you think i'm foolish for not following the rules? Thanks

surgery in Tx or Mexico?
Hey you sound alot like me. I had my lapband 2 years ago and love it. I've had my ups and downs with it. You HAVE to work it for it to work. But it was so worth it. I reached goal weight months ago but found that I tend to maintain about 10 lbs higher than my original goal. I am 160. In a week I am going to have Breast Augmentation and I am so excited. I told myself that if I stayed somewhat stable for two years then I would reward myself with that. I reached goal, confidence went up and I am now in a relationship. The funny thing is, he likes me just how I am and doesn't understand why I want Breast Aug. but is still supportive. Now for your question. I went to Dr. Jayaseelan in Dallas, TX. I was beyond impressed with him and his staff. A year after my band I had to get my gallbladder out and he did that for me also. I would recommend him to ANYONE. In addition he has been in D Magazine's top Dallas Doctors. That may make your family feel a bit better. If you want to talk or have questions you can message me on yahoo or aim at firecallie0782. Good luck!

So your body gets used to eating lower calories a day
So my question is...when you get an unfill for awhile and are back to eating 1500 calories or so how do you get it back used to taking in more (but still within normal limits) calories?
