Shingles

I am almost 6 months post-op, have lost about 60 lbs, and I am recovering from a yukky case of shingles. I know shingles can occur when a person's immune system is weak. I was wondering if anyone knows of a higher incidence of shingles following WLS...does the sudden weight loss somehow temporarily weaken your immune system?

I've had a good amount of personal stress lately which I feel is the most significant factor.

Just wondering....;)

Thanks!!!

No, there is no correlation between Shingles or weight loss. I had Shingles years ago- they're awful. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Best wishes and I hope they calm and subside sooner than late

I have never seen shingles related to weight loss. Is it too late for you to have the Shingles Vaccine?

Hi Zinnia (you must be a gardener, me too!) -- this is not medical advice but I do know several people who got Shingles after chicken pox vaccine wore off from childhood. Hope you feel better!
