  1. Hello:) I'm new and have a question regarding my lapband which was put in May 2010. I went through surgery just fine, came home on liquids about a week, soft about a week and solids with the exception of the obvious foods that down go down easily (steak, pork, tougher meats) for 3 years I had no problems at all. I was up to 10cc and needed a fill , but being on Medicaid right now (soon to get insurance tho) they will not pay for my fill. I had insurance when I got it. My question tho is...a week ago yesterday I was eating a handful of blueberries and had eaten about 5 when I felt pressure and realized I needed to stop eating them. I threw up finally ...but after that…

  2. I had my surgery about 4 years ago I got down 80lbs from 312 lbs. I now stay around 255lbs. and I would like to get rid of the last 55 lbs. So my question is do you think it would be good to completely unfill for about a month or two then start over? Has anyone done it and had success?

  3. I had my second fill yesterday up to 4ccs and I believe I've hit my green zone. I had a yogurt this morning and if I hadn't had to feed my kids I wouldn't have even thought about food all day...so I had a Protein shake (liquids and mushies only today!) and I really don't want anything else. But...eating 500 cal/day is only going to hurt me in the end... How do ya'll get in enough food when you don't want to eat? They say 3 meals /day but only a cup of food...how does that add up to enough? I just am not understanding how I'm supposed to be eating. I already have an unhealthy relationship with food and I don't want to make it worse.... On Monday I'll be making a…

  4. This morning I tried a new way to make eggs. I used a muffin pan and put one piece of thinly cut ham in each of the cups. In a mixing bowl I beat 12 eggs (for 12 muffin cups). I wasn't feeling adventurous this morning so I didn't blend anything in with the eggs. I put small pieces of cheese in each of the cups and then poured the eggs in the cups. The eggs baked on 350 degrees for 18 minutes. They were moist but I like them that way. I hope you enjoy this fast and easy recipe as much as my wife and I did. Larry

I had my fourth fill on wed and did fine until Thursday night. Thursday night I started having a dull consistent pain in my stomach. This pain has been constant since then. My question is does this mean I'm to tight? In eating great I'm full on a little amount and stay full. The dull constant pain is the only thing bothering me. I'm also worried about the possibility of slippage, could the pain be from slippage?

  14. Lately I have been seeing a dramatic increase in the negative lap band experiences people are reporting (maybe it was always like this and I just didnt notice??) It seems like every day people are posting that they're getting their bands removed because of serious/irreversible complications So far I have no reason to be upset with my band (other than occasional heartburn, but with no Fluid in my band, my doc isn't really concerned) but being on here makes me feel like my band is a "ticking time bomb" and that something will surely go wrong. I try to stay positive, and try to be happy with my 60 lb weight loss, but I am feeling increasingly unsettled and its really bu…

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the forum and although I have lots of questions, the one I am most concerned about is air travel. I am an International Flight Attendant so I travel long distances quite often. The flights are anywhere from 3 to 14 hours depending on where I am going. Does anyone know how soon I can return to work? How much time should I take off? Will it be safe to fly? My concern is deep vain thrombosis (DVT).

I find them very filling and they are not a slider food for me. I know they can be for some. What are your thoughts?

I was banded December 2006, I did very well and lost 100lbs, I ended up getting pregnant and now have a 2 1/2 year old son and all the weight to prove it, I gained 80lbs back lost 50lbs doing Isagenix and working out, then I quit smoking and gained 50lbs back again, I feel like I have spent my whole life trying to lose weight, I have learned to eat around the band and can't seem to control my late night munchies, I have decided today that it is time to stop feeling sorry for myself and try to get back on track, I have also decided to learn how to box which I start this Wednesday (super nervous) :-) Looking for a buddy to keep me motivated :-)

  32. Problems started about a year ago and my surgeon felt that he was 99% sure the band needed to come out. My fear of packing it back on pushed me to suggest that if he got in there and felt whatever could be fixed and the band left in, please do so. Still, I was a bit disappointed to come out of surgery still banded. Apparently, I had a haitel hernia, which he repaired - same as when I had my original surgery three years ago. I'm three days out - the usual swelling and discomfort over the incision sites. Can hardly swallow the pain meds and even liquids are doing the old 'stop - then - drop' on the way down. Odd lump at base of throat - which I can literally feel with my …

It also tells me everyday that I'm not eating enough. I know I can ignore that statement, but it's quite annoying and I feel like the app is scolding me. Lol! Does anyone use MyNetDiary? It looks like I can adjust my carb and protein levels as well as my calories. The app is $10, but it also looks like I can use it online for free. Any thoughts? Experience with both?

Is my band too tight or do I need to readjust my thinking about the restriction in my band and give it a couple of day?

  36. My surgery date is set for July 11th - the last week in June I will make my final flight before the band and i'm filled with all the dread - will i fit in the seat? can i get the belt to buckle? will the person next to me be so small they won't be put off by my hip spilling underneath the arm rest? I always vacillate between hoping i'm next to a small person who doesn't take up their whole seat anyhow - and a big person who we can at least commiserate together (even if we're totally smushed together). I'm just so glad this group exists - I'm aiming to lose around 125lbs - and knowing there's a group out there in a similar place as me gives me great comfort. I hope by…

  40. Hello All! In the past month I have began to seriously consider weight-loss surgery and for many reasons the Band is most appealing. So now I am starting to become better educated on the procedure etc. I'm going to informational session at the clinic next week but I wanted to ask band users some questions. I would love any and all feedback positive or negative about the band. Are the risks involved with getting the band increased by not following the guidelines post-op? Is the erosion, slippage, etc something that can happen either by fault of the device or user? Is it possible when you have met your weight-loss goal and feel confident that would be able to manage y…

Well I did tonight. I am 13 days post op and am heading into hell. I wanted anything to eat. chips? A Diet Coke (it's my crack) maybe? And then I stood in my pantry and spied the Golden Oreo package. Those delicious little, calorie packed Cookies were once a great night time friend. I stared at those cookies and then grabbed a can of low sodium green Beans. It was difficult, to walk away and the I remembered I just went through hell with surgery and don't want to screw this up! Also, I'm down 18 pounds! 18. That is much better then a cookie. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

  44. Yesterday's surgery went pretty well. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well I'm doing, especially after reading some of the horror stories that people have told about their surgery experiences. At this point, I just can't wait until after 5pm today, so I can take a shower. So far, I've got some mild pain in my left shoulder from gas, and some tenderness where the port is sewn to my abdominal muscle. I get to advance to thick liquids tomorrow, so hopefully things will only get better from here. Anyone else get banded yesterday?
