So I initially got 2.5 cc put in when I first got my band. I then got another 2.5 put in about 4 weeks later. A few weeks after than I am up to 7 cc. I haven't lost any weight since my first month out which is 20 lbs. I could (but I don't) eat anything and just as much as I did before surgery. No leak either. . I am going in tomorrow for my 4th fill. I hope this does the trick. I honestly feel the exact same that I did before Lap band. I was hoping that this would be used as a tool along with healthy eating and exercising but I still feel very much alone. Has this happened to anyone else?!?

I have a question for those of you who have had to deal with friends reacting negatively about the band. How do you deal with it? I have a VERY close friend, and although she says she supports my decision, she hasn't been exactly supportive. She is concerned that I am giving up on diet and exercise on my own, and that I am making a quick decision. The thing is, and I have told her this, I have been contemplating this decision for a very long time. Now whenever we speak, she is telling me what I could do instead of surgery, and trying to basically scare me out of my decision. I don't want to lose a friendship over this, but she is stressing me out!!

Hi all...possibly wondering if I could get some assistance. My nurses and dr aren't the best at helping me which is very depressing. I chose this journey bc I ate like garbage all the time. But when I ask rhe dr or call rhe nurse for help they speak to me like I'm an idiot and shoild know. This is hard....my question is...what should I be approximately and approiately eating. Any advise will help at this point. Thank you

I had my surgery February 8, 2013 and at the time of surgery I had lost 20 lbs prior to surgery. I am now 5 months into this journey and my weight is going the opposite way. My surgeon has said that I know how to go around the band and not eating properly. I would like help in getting back on the right track, I am back on Protein Shakes 2 to 3 a day, and try to eat a healthy meal. I will admit my weakness is McDonalds Sweet Tea and there cookies. I am trying my damest to stay away. I am going this week to join a gym so I am exercise. I do not like the heat, so I believe this will help me. Again any help on getting back on track would be greatly appreciated.

I had a lap band installed a year ago and it has been one of the greatest regrets of my life. four months after surgery I was still having abdominal pain while working out so that routine was lost to me. my most current issue is; pain while eating. my band only contains 4cc of fluid and I experience pain while attempting to eat most foods every time I eat. I don't have reflux or vomiting just pain and occasionally mass saliva is produced when I feel the pain. I have relocated in my post opt period and it has been a struggle finding a doctor who will take me being post opt. I have found one but it will be a period of time before I'm able to get in. has anybody dealt with t…

I was banded on May 21st. I immediately lost 5-10 pounds in addition to the 20 I lost pre-surgery, but have been in that range ever since. I have lost size (dropped two sizes - and my friend told me that my smaller pants have droop in the butt). I get my first fill Wed. I have been closely watching all that the nurse told me to do- 60-80 grams of Protein daily 1000-1200 calories (this one is tough - most days around 750) 64 - 100 oz of Water daily Plus Vitamins, etc. Been doing low impact exercise (due to existing ortho problems) including yoga, Pilates, and walking. I am not eating the "wrong things" ( fried, un helpful sugar, etc) but so want to CRUNCH som…

Hello, So I am post op day 4 and I feel so miserable. I am trying to stay positive around family and friends but I don't feel like being bothered because I am in pain. I have no appetite and everyone is telling me to drink when I don't want it or to walk when I feel weak.

Does anyone know if you can buy Quest Protein bars by the single instead of a box at GNC or anywhere else and if so are they any good? I tend to lean towards a more fruity kind of bar like the apple pie or the mixed berry one is probably what I'd like instead of a chocolate one. I don't want a bar that is gritty tasting. Thx

I've been buying large bags of frozen flounder filets at costco. A few filets with some green Beans make a pretty meal with a good amount of Protein, and it fills me up without many calories. I'm looking for some cooking ideas for these fillets. They are bit thin (takes three to get near 200 calories, or 8 oz.) I'm looking for ideas on how spice the fillets--being Italian garlic is fine. Does anyone have a good seasoning suggestion?

About 2months ago my band had suddenly gotten so tight I couldn't eat a thing. Went to my dr she took nearly all my fluid out of my band. I could eat whatever whenever something I hadn't been able to do since getting the band 2 yrs ago. I know I shouldn't have ate all those bad for me foods and should have went back to dr right away but didn't due to my kids being home from school, the long drive to dr. i know i still shoulve but didnt and I just got a battery for my scale today. I started crying when I seen I gained nearly 30 lbs. I knew it was gonna be bad cause I could feel it. I am going to dr first of next week and am going to be so embarrassed since I gained a…

I've been reading several posts and decided to post my story to see if anyone has similar experiences. I received my band in July of 2008. I went for fills about every 2 weeks. I never felt restriction for longer than 2 weeks. It took a year and me switching docs to find the port leak. After years of arguing with original surgeon, my port was replaced. I assumed the whole system would be checked, but I guess not. I've switched docs and been receiving fills monthly. Again, no restriction. When they check fluid, it's not there. I was suppose to have 12. I had 4. Was suppose to have 6 now I have 2. They looked at it during barium swallow. No noticeable leak, but the NP wh…

Hey all-- I've had my band for 5 years now. Just a couple weeks ago I had gotten my first fill in a little while. She had complications getting to my port but eventually made it happen. About 1 week later I still had a bruise in that area. That day I started experiencing intense lower back pain. That morning I was able to have a bowel movement, but since then (almost 1 week later) I've yet to have another. I've been feeling blocked up and the lower back pain has not gone away. I had gone in to the ER a couple days ago and they did x rays and said my band was in the right spot and everything was in the right place, and prescribed me pain killers for my back pain. But I'…

Has anyone ever seen any studies on the success rate of self pay over insurance covered procedures? In my personal case comparing it to my education pursuits, when someone else was paying for it, I didn't give it 100%, but when it was coming out of my wallet, that was totally different and I aced all the classes.

I bout a juicer. Surprisingly there is only one small thread a bout lap and juicing. I am 1 year post op and haven't lost much. I don't really eat the proper foods, so I was thinking about going on a diet like the pre band fast, but then I started hearing about Clean Gut, buy Gwenyth Paltrow and her Dr. If you know who she is then you know that she is super healthy and she drinks a lot of green juices. Any other banders juice? How in the world do I get started? <staring at shiny new juicer>

I just came from my Doctors office after my 3rd fill. I lost another 6 pounds in two weeks. I told him it seemed to easy. He asked me if I was hungry, I said no. He said I was in the green zone. But I am not just eating 1/2 cup of food, I am eating 3 oz of meat and vegatables. He told me as long as I am eating the protein first that I should keep doing what I am doing. He did give me another cc of fluid, bringing me up to 3.5 cc's in my 14 cc band. I don't have to go back to see him now unless I lose less than 4 pounds in 2 weeks, and feel like a need a fill. Onward to goal!!!

I know I won't be able to lift heavy objects for at least 6-8 weeks or is it forever? I have a children's inflatable business, so on weekends I do have to roll and get 250-300 pound bouncies in a trailer. I know I will be out of commission for a while, but will I never be able to lift heavy stuff again? Thanks everyone. I finally have insurance that will pay for it!!

Has anyone else experienced pain where their port is located??? I am a secretary so I have a sit down job. I try to get up and walk as much as possible but I definitely sit most of the work day. The last two days I have had a big typing job to do so I have been sitting more straight and I must be putting more pressure on more port. I am so much pain it feels almost as bad as when I had the surgery. I am not sure if this is a normal feeling but this pain is even making me feel nauseous. I have 2 hours left in my work day and I am not sure how I will make it through. Am I the only one???

This has never happened to me before. I had a fill 2 weeks ago, but instead of maintaining or losing, I have GAINED. I have done very well and this is the first time I have GAINED since surgery. At my last appointment, I had lost 12 lbs in the month prior. The doctor did a fill at that visit, but I have done nothing but gained. I am up about 5-6 lbs. Nothing else has changed other than the fill. I met with the nutritionist that visit, and things were fine. I didn't change how I was eating or anything. I am doing what I have done since surgery, which until now has brought amazing results. Has anyone else GAINED after a fill? I called the doctor's office because I was con…

Question for people who have been banded for a while.... I have had my band for about a year, and I'm still having port troubles. If I wear jeans it will hurt. I wore jeans for two days this week, and now I actually have a bump that moves around easily under my skin. (I switched to a stretchy skirt today.) I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of problem?

Just had my 5th fill. I'm not gonna say my 5th and final because I thought my 4th fill was my final fill. I don't know why but, every time I go I feel like, "ok this is the magic dose and now I'm gonna get skinny". I guess lapband is a disappointment in that regard because its such a slow process. I, however, am also thankful for my lapband because I don't want all the skin issues, bypass patients get. Yes, they lose weight fast, but some gain it all right back because, unlike lapband, when they stretch its permanent. My sister had bypass and lost a 100 lbs. I became the fat sister. 8 years later she's put about 30 back on and now I have lapband. Needless to say she's alr…

I had a question. I have had one fill, I have been able to eat anything. But I have noticed that my first bite of dense food for the day I'm always getting stuck on. After I get stuck once then everything else goes down fine. It took me awhile to figure this out, because I kept switching to just liquids after. Is it possible to get stuck on green Beans one day but not the next. Does anybody know why I would be getting stuck on my first bite of a meal? It has to be dense food though mushies go down fine. And this is just not in the morning. Would I not need another fill with this going on. I don't stay full for 4 hours on a cup of food. Thanks for your help ~~…

I'm 7 weeks post op and had my first fill today. I had 3.5 cc put in at surgery and 1cc added today. Ever since the fill I've had a headache, which liquid tylenol hasn't helped. Could this be fill related or is it just a coincidence (maybe allergies)? Thanks!
