I am so excited, had 2nd fill yesterday (now @ 5cc in 10cc band). Breakfast threw half my porridge away, got to work three and a half hours ago and still not hungry. This is a fantastic feeling, if this is green zone I LOVE IT.

A week ago today I had my third fill (7.5cc in a 10cc band). I am able to keep liquids and some solid foods down. However, I have thrown up many foods I think I should be able to eat, (dark meat chicken, egg whites, etc.) and I am chewing my food completely / taking small bites. Like I said, I am keeping down some things. And I had been successful with the previous fill. I have lost 46 lbs since my surgery in March. But has anyone else experienced this after a fill? Did it get better and you adjusted to the "new normal" or should I consider having some saline removed?

I was banded on 5/14/13. I am down 29#. I went in for my first fill and my doctor thought I was doing good and didn't need a fill. I do feel restriction. I am eating 4 small meals throughout the day and am feeling full. I guess it is a good thing that I dont need a fill. I have started to work with a personal trainer and doing cardio atleast 4 days per week. I am a little concerned that all of the sudden I will start to feel hungy and then have to try to get in quickly for a fill.

  7. I have decided to run a 2 mile run in aug and a 5K in sept. I would not have thought of myself as a runner but last yr i saw these ppl doing the 2 mile run in aug and i was hmm I should be able to do that next year. Last week it dawned on me its almost that time so I have started training to do just that. Then i saw a 5k run in my town coming up in Sept so i was hmm I am going to do that too. Everyone wish me luck in accomplishing these things. Who knows maybe it will lead to a whole new love of something for me to do.... Below is a picture i took while getting ready to run and Hmmmm Look i have a WAIST!! who know knew it was buried under all that fat!!!!

Hi I'm new here, I had my band inserted August 2007 and initially it worked really well. After about two years I started suffering reflux and would have really bad flare ups where for a week at a time I could not eat anything or even keep Water down, after two years suffering like this I had the band emptied and everything was fine until Tuesday this week (11th June) when I suddenly got acute pain at the top of my stomach and couldn't keep anything down. I got an appointment with my doctor and he prescribed omezaprol (not sure of the spelling but it reduces stomach acid) this did nothing to help and the pain was horrific!! This went on until Thursday when I had an ultra…

I got my surgery 5 months ago and since then Ive had 4 fills. I'm currently at 6.5 cc's. I feel no restriction and no different as to before surgery. I've lost 30lbs but I feel its only because I've really been pushing myself and began running 4 miles up steep hills 5 days a week and I limit myself on portions but find myself feeling hungry often. I got the band as a big aid in helping me lose weight but its saddening to feel like its been useless for me. I cut off so much food out of my life and changed my eating habits on my own. I feel like I can lose track at any moment and gain weight again. My bands max is 10 cc's and I was told average weight loss is 10lbs a month …

I was in bed, lying on my side I began to feel something hard. I sit up and pull the covers back to examine what this is??? Turns out it was just my legs and the bones around my knee and thigh area that I have never felt because they have been buried under so much fat! I've since also felt my upper arm bones as well. Feels great! :-)

  16. I try to keep up my protein as well as stay under 1200 calories a day. I also work out 5 days a week!! I am 9 months post op and only down 41 lbs. I expected far more.. I was roughly 250 at the beginning. I believe I am in the right zone as I can't eat much at a time (unless its' soup or something of that nature and then I can eat it all no problem). Ideas?? I'm discouraged. I'd really like another 20 lbs gone rather quickly.. and itn the long run=- I'd like 40!! atleast

I'm impatient today. Impatient to see more progress. I know in my brain how this works, but after a week of really good caloric intake and hard kick butt exercise you just want to see some progress, you know? I'm frustrated that the visual cues of hard work are not showing...on the scale or in the body. I'm frustrated that I can eat whatever I want and as much as I want. I'm frustrated that my self will is not always as strong as it should be in my food choices and amounts. I'm not giving up, but I'm just a little peeved at my band right now. Like I feel like it should be doing just a bit more work than it is. ha ha ha. I've got big goals to achieve...just fe…

This gets inflamed and red and painful I went to my doctor and he said it was a hematoma and that I just need to wait do it to go away. I have continued issues with it swelling pain and redness. In Dec I went to the ER because I was having pain in my upper stomach area rite under my breast bone and the pain started moving into my back and chest. ER doctors told me they couldn't find anything and that I needed to follow up with the surgeon and my primary care doc. When I saw the surgeon he said…

Well, by this time tomorrow, I'll be banded. Excited, terrified, etc. I've stocked up on broth, sugar free popscicles, liquid Tylenol, chewable Gas-Ex, heating pad. Any other recovery recommendations? We're having a "talk" with my 2 little boys tonight to explain that Daddy can't wrestle for a few days, lol. They love to pounce on me in my recliner. That's ok. Soon there will be more than enough room for all 3 of us in my recliner.

I called and got in to him tomorrow, because I am headed on vaca for 5 weeks and don't really want to go month and lose nothing! Has anyone went back in after a week to get more? Any suggestions?

Hi all ~ Just trying to find out if this is a reaction to the liquid diet or maybe a medication reaction. The 1st 3 days of the liquid diet have been a relative breeze, just through dogged determination. Today, however, I have been experiencing annoying diarrhea. Not sure if it is switching over my pain medication to a patch (less to swallow later) & a side effect of that or my body adjusting to liquid diet or both. Anyone else have this experience? Also wondering if this will pass? The pain med is one that I hope loss of weight will help me be able to stop! Less weight, less back / neck pain, less pain med needed is one ultimate goal!

So noone has posted yet so I thought I would jump in. I dont remember when I was banded but I think it was in 2008. I knew it was going to be hard but had no idea how hard it really is. Have been off plan since until two weeks ago tomorrow. I was at a family event and they had a green screen picture booth and someone dragged me in there. When I saw the picture I was in shock! We were standing side by side and my stomach almost covered her. I had been thinking about getting my band checked and this pushed me to do it. FIrst I had my brother take pictures of me at all angles and i bought a cheap digital keychain to carry the pictures with me. I did not have the money but I…

  33. 242 lbs 37 BMI on the day of my first surgery 8/30/2007. Lost 100 lbs in 14 months with very aggressive tight fills. So aggressive I slipped several times. Finally had to have the band replaced with a Realize band in Nov. 2009. Never filled it past 3 ml, emptied it down to 0.8 ml after another slip on 12/24/11 and gained back up to 197 by 4/6/13. Switched clinics and got a 2ml fluoroscope fill on 4/6/13 at Forest Park Medical Center (best place for fills ON THE PLANET in my opinion!) lost 4lbs, got another 2 ml today 6/6/13 and at 4.8 ml I'm hoping to lose back down to about 150 over the next year. Planning on taking it slow this time. No drastically aggressive filling …

My son (who just graduated high school - I just can't help myself - as valedictorian) asked me why I was drinking coffee last night. Prior to surgery my doc said to decaffeinate and I did but after I started with the occasional cup of regular coffee and now I don't pay much attention to it. I make decaf iced tea but drink regular coffee every few days. I've heard caffeine is an appetite suppressant and an appetite enhancer. What do you think about caffeine?

I'm so afraid that any food I eat will stretch it and so I drink while I eat so it can wash down.. I know I'm not supposed to.. I'm at the point where my Weightloss has slowed drastically and I think my thinking is something is wrong with my band and that's why I drink Water while I eat so I don't ruin it more? Cuz I'm green, finally! I've had my band for a year and a half and done well with very small fills. I thought I was in the green, but never really knew what that might feel like. Soooo for you newbies, pay attention to how you feel the first few days after surgery, before regular hunger sets in. Write it down so you remember, because this is what the green zone feels like! I started with zero in my band and now have 3.4. I've had about 5 fills, I think, of about .5 and .2 the last few times. Until now, I've been dieting to some extent.. With help from my band. I knew there had to be something more... And this is it! I can still eat anything, but the heightened interest…

  47. What are the foods that you've learned [the hard way] no longer sit well with your stomach/band? I just had surgery yesterday, but once I start incorporating solids into my diet, I plan to try some of my favorite foods to learn what my band likes and doesn't so I can silently rejoice/weep and work around it. I hope I won't have a laundry list, but I am prepping myself for at least a handful.

Okay.... Had my surgery 1 week ago today. Over the last 7 days, I have been in the hospital 5 of them. Having some complications already (severe pain and nausea I have never experienced the like before). I'm starting to have regrets....how soon is too soon to decide to have it removed. If these "complications" happen again, I don't think it's going to be a hard decision. Am I crazy?
