New guy from NJ

Recommended Posts

Hi all I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I posted this on the preop section but realized I probably put it in the wrong spot so I'm reposting it here. I've been lurking for a couple weeks reading your posts and getting a feel for the forum. I went to my seminar last Thursday and I am scheduled for my first consultation this upcoming Tuesday the 18th. I'm a little nervous...not too sure what to expect. But I'm very excited at the same time to hopefully get this journey started. I'm going through the Bariatric Center on NJ for the procedure so I'm not really sure how long the process should take but I'm really hoping to be banded by the end of 2013. I look forward to getting to know all of you and also hope to be able to come to you guys when I need advice or the extra push I might need to stay focused!! So here goes nothing!!!

Welcome! I'm from NJ also - Middlesex County. You will do fine - this forum is a great resource. I'm 4 months along and down 48 lbs, just feel like I'm getting into the swing of it all.

I'm also from Middlesex County! Woodbridge to be exact. Where did you go for your surgery if you don't mind me asking?

JP,

Welcome fellow Jersey Boy. I am from Essex county, and had my surgery in Mountainside Hospital. I, like you, had no idea what to expect......but the team at my doctors office prepared me well. Whatever you do, don't rush. Make sure you have all, your answers and feel comfortable with everything that is going to be done.

I saw my nutritionists for about eight months before I had my surgery......I just wish I found this site sooner. Everyone here is so positive and helpful. If you have a question, chances are someone has already experienced what you are asking about and will answer.

Good luck,

Ron

Well I won't have to worry about rushing into anything. I have at least a 6 month wait before I can have my surgery. My insurance requires 6 monthly visits before the surgery so I have plenty of time!!

Aw I also have to wait 6 months :/

That's okay it allows time to go by and get your muscles used to chewing 25 times .. So difficult! Good luck to you !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
