My story with bariatric surgery is a headache.

My first surgery was the LapBand on January 10, 2011 and I started off at about 270 pounds. All went well for a few months and then I started experiencing problems keeping food down.

In September 2012, I found out that my band had slipped and I had to undergo emergency surgery to have it "unbuckled." I had reached a dangerously low weight for my body type (125 pounds) and needed some time for the inflammation to subside and my body to heal prior to it being put back into place.

In May 2013, I had my band "re-buckled" after I had gained 50+ pounds. Things were going okay until I was prescribed antibiotics to fight a sinus infection. I was vomiting constantly and unable to keep food down.

In August of 2013, my band had slipped for the second time and I made the decision to have my band permanently removed.

A few years went by and I had reached a place where I was completely uncomfortable with myself and how I looked. I went from being 140 pounds (August 2013) to being 240 pounds (August 2015).

I met with my surgeon and underwent the process to have gastric sleevectomy performed. I was approved and the surgery occurred on September 25, 2015.

So there's my lengthy story. I am 100% satisfied with my sleeve compared to my LapBand. Food actually goes down and stays down. From what I've heard/read, people who are prone to inflammation tend to reject the silicone band. This could very well be the issue that caused my band to have slipped because I have food allergies and autoimmune disorders run in my family.

So welcome to my "third round" of my weight loss journey. Things are going amazing and I am looking forward to getting back into that bikini!!!!
