Who else has/had no energy doing their liquid pre-op diet? I feel so sluggish and tired. Makes me want to just burrow under my covers and sleep forever. Luckily only 5 more days to go till surgery. Staying true to the diet but just super tired.

Is there anyone out there who experienced significant hair loss, who can tell me how long the shedding lasted, how long it took for the new growth to begin, and how long it took for their hair to return to normal? Pleeeeeeaaase? Thanks in advance!

Hi All. I’ll be 4 weeks sleeved next Tuesday. I’m headed back to work next Thursday. Not sure how to pack lunch/snacks for the day. As of this week I’m on soft/puréed food. What does your typical day look like food-wise? I just purchased a bento box with compartments off Amazon to help but I’m not sure how to pack. I can tolerate a lot of liquids/smoothies but am scared to try meat protein right now. Help please! Thanks!

Hi everyone! Here's a new twist on an old subject matter - a bad breakup. I was happy, healthy, losing weight and working out. I had lost a solid 67 lbs since my June 14 surgery, had a great boyfriend and was really doing well. Then, on December 26, my BF and I broke up. It was sudden and I was absolutely blindsided. I moved out of his apartment and moved in with my bestie and her husband in CT, away from my job (which I lost), my neighborhood, everything that I know. The old Diane would be drowning her sorrows in Ben and Jerry's, crying and eating. The new Diane? She can't do that. She can't even eat ice cream because post surgery, she is lactose into…

I had my sleeve done 6/5/18 and for the first time I cried cuz I could only eat a little of something.. last night I made the most delish chicken wings in my air fryer, I mean they were so crispy and juicy. And I could only eat 2. I was so upset and mad. I cried. It was more of a funny laughing at myself for being mad, type of cry tho. Because I am beyond glad I got the surgery, but it happened.. I really wanted to just eat like 40 of them things.. I mean I've lost over 70 lbs. I now can shop in the cute bras and underwear sections, so no more plain black, white and nudes.. no more boob buldges because I can't afford the specially made bras.. no more worrying about someon…

I’m 6 mo post op and down 70lbs with another 20-30 to go but things have slowed waaaaaaay down. I’ve only lost 5lbs/mo for past 3 months. Also, I’m very surprised at the volume of food I’m able to eat and suspect this is a contributing factor. I travel a lot for work and as a result find myself eating out. I order healthy options and mostly avoid carbs but I find my self straining to finish meals. I can usually eat 2/3 of a restaurant serving. For example, if I order a burger, I will usually eat all of the burger sans bun and a few fries. Or today I had almost 3 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon and a bite or two of potatoes. Sometimes I know I’m eating too much and d…

Hello fellow sleevers. I have been on this site very little in the past couple of years but have logged in today to respond to a question. Since I'm here, I feel obligated to tell you all the things I've learned after 5 years. 1. The people that told me my approach to living life with the sleeve was all wrong and that I would fail, gain weight in a few years, stretch my sleeve, and regret my actions are mostly gone now. I have seen a couple of them around but the most are long gone. Do not pay much attention to the know-it-alls. They know no more than anyone else and are just as likely to fail. 2. Obviously you want to follow your Dr's instructions but d…

I hate when I try to confide in someone and they say "You don't need surgery" … ? I say " Oh yeah...tell that to my bad knees and achy back..You try carrying a 70lb child around everyday" this was how I felt.. Do they really think I haven't tried other ways. Maybe they think WLS is the easy way out. This is why I only told a few selected people. I have enough battles to fight.

I have asked this question before and didn't get many responses. I had the sleeve over 5 years ago. I lost 90#. I have gained back half over the past 2 years due to binge eating, prednisone, and the fact that my surgeon NEVER told me I would need to live on 1000 calories a day. When I went back to see him about 6 months ago he told me its too late and will not be able to lose weight anymore!!!!! I am really frustrated and struggling.

I apologize for starting a new thread as i cannot locate where i posted the initial information that i want to update LOL. To recap: I had my pre-ops done on the 10th and my Surgery is scheduled on the 8th of November. My EKG came back abnormal and i was very nervous because i did not have a Primary Care Physician since I am self pay and the results requested both a Dr. Medical Clearance and a Cardiology Clearance. So i was fretting and getting nervous about all of that. I found a PCP that does takes Patients without insurance ( after about 5 phone calls to other doctors) and am really glad though now that I have him in hindsight because it is a very family friendly orien…

I know there are a million posts about Hair loss on here but I’m adding one more. Because I can. So I’ve haid super thin hair for years since I have Alopecia. I wear wigs most of the time. But this weekend my hair loss kicked itself into overdrive. Below is a picture of me 2 years ago (before starting to wear wigs) and a picture of my decision to just accept my hair loss and make it my own! I’ll eventually go to a barber and have them clean it up but whatever I love how easy it is! Also a picture of me in my wig because damn I’ve lost HALF my face! Also... ran my first 5k this AM ❤️ loving my life right now.

Hello All. I had my Sleeve surgery 8/16/2018 and had the best of times! The doc said it was straight forward, the recovery was relatively painless and I was able to do clear and full liquids...just one little thing that got by me...I DIDN'T STAY ON TOP OF THE STOOL SOFTENER!! Day 7 cam around and i thought I was going to DIE! I COULDN'T pass a poo nor urinate! I called the doc and really got no help, just some worlds of assurance that it would pass naturally (like a baby!)...I went to the ER in hopes they would give me an enema or DO SOMETHING!! But alas, they only hydrated me and verified that there was no obstruction ( I can't WAIT for that bill!!) ...I w…

Hey guys, haven't been here for a while and thought I'd check in. Still losing slowly but surely. Ladies, stay away from wine and other new addictions that might take over where food once reigned! Lol. Keep to your goals and do you. Every journey is different so never compare yourself to others. At 18 months postoperative I thought I would have figured it all out by now. That is not the case. I still am mindful of my Protein and calories intake as well as liquids. Still on my Quest for Vitamins that I can settle on (have tried gummies, pills, patches). Still eat with my eyes and have to remind myself food is simply fuel and not a party. Still have to remind myself I have …

I had the gastric sleeve surgery on 10/19/2018, and it has been work all the way. Although I'm in so much pain, I can't wait to see the results. I'm ashamed to say this, but when I started my phase 1 and 2 diets, I weighed in at 554lbs. As of today, I'm at 498lbs. Besides the pain, I haven't really had any other issues as of now with nausea etc I'll be moving on to the puree stage 10/27/18. I will just like to encourage everyone to keep pushing through, we can do it!

Do you get mad when someone eats your food, when there is plenty of other food for them? I am talking adults here not kids. I have very little to choose from they can eat anything. It feels degrading, like my needs are unimportant.

Hey , everyone I am 10 days Post op. The day after surgery I noticed two little red spots in my belly next to my incisions, I didn't make anything of it cause they were not bothering me . But as the days have gone by , I have rash like spots all over my body . I had read in my discharged paper from hospital ( to go ER or contact doctor if i developed a rash). They don't itch or burn anything like that , the rash is just there. Has anybody have experience something like this? I am devating if i should go to the ER or just wait till Monday to call my surgeon? Ohhh..... forgot to mention my diet is pure liquid. Broth vaggie, Clear Protein, Water, Jello. So…

Today has hit 8 weeks for me and I wanted to share my journey. I can't believe that time has flown but in the beginning, it felt like eternity. My surgery itself was pretty smooth. Not much pain just mostly discomfort because of the incisions. My first four weeks were definitely a challenge mentally. 2 weeks of puree probably was the hardest. That and my water intake. But when I hit that 4 week mark and I was given the green light from the doctor that I was on my own, it felt liberating in a way. I didn't feel so restricted and I became mentally more conscious about what I put in my mouth and I focused on protein and water. My strength and mentality changed. I don'…

been through numerous diet/classes/pills. also had a Lap band. I was originally scheduled to have band removed & have gastric sleeve done at the same time. But when they removed the band. said too much scar tissue from the band wrapping around my liver. How did Band wrap around my liver? Who knows.. my doctor closed the surgery. said I must wait for 1 year before they attempt to do the sleeve. But after going through all that. I had to go to more classes/ 1 on 1 with doctor/ G/I Series/ Esophagus in order for my insurance for approval. Well I did it all. Finally my schedule date at Fountain Valley Hospital is 11/05/2018. I am so excited.

28 days ago I had my sleeve done. After 1 year of getting ready for it, the day finally arrived. My significant other well lets just say he isnt very emotionally intelligent and over the last 13 years I have been with him through 11 medical procedures he needed some were in hospital some were out patient. I always put him first , and took care of him what ever he needed. I am really getting very frustrated I feel he is just in my way of healing now, not physically but mentally and emotionally. He is not emotionally supportive at all, I really am in this all alone. I try to stay positive, I have made a major life change and rather than him having my back he …

I had revision from band to sleeve on August 17. I have lost about 18 pounds which seems pretty good to me. I feel like I am learning to eat all over again. I seem to be doing pretty good with getting my protein in with the Genepro and I struggle a bit with the water. Last week I began to feel nausea and I realized I was eating too much. If I stick to 3 to 4 ounces I feel fine. My surgeon has advanced my diet as I can tolerate. I can eat salad or, anything really, just not much of it. My cravings are under control and I can have small amounts of sugar, like one Hershey kiss, and it does not seem to throw me into the trenches of hell of increasing my cravings for b…

Very upset. I'm 8 weeks post surgery and I still get nautious throughout the day. Can't figure out the trigger. Nautious if I don't eat, nautious if I do. I'm fighting back there resentment of having the surgery. Then extra frustrated because what's done is done. Upside of course is the 37 lbs wishes weightloss since pre surgery diet but I don't feel like that outweighs the nausea.

I’m feeling VERY discouraged! I bad lapband to sleeve revision surgery September 13th and in the first month or so dropped about 25lbs. However, but the end of the 4th week or so and up until now I’ve been at a CRAWLING weight loss pace...I don’t weigh every day, but it feels like I’m just bouncing between 355-358. How am I stalling this early on? I’m not eating nearly as much as I used to, of course and doing my damndest to get in all of my protein. (It’s really hard since protein shakes are now making me gag just because I’ve been doing them basically non-stop for the last 2-3months in my pre and post-surgery diets.) I’ve tried exercise, but I’m so quick to get weak and…

1 year ago today, I made a decision to change my life. And what a life changer or has been! I was diabetic on 2 different Mixed diabetic meds, so basically 4. Have gotten my A1C to 5.0 from 7.2. And no longer need any diabetes medication. Down to 1 high blood pressure pill instead of 2. 1 cholesterol pill instead of 2. And my triglycerides were over 600 are now 95. I did not do this for vanity, I did it for me, my health and my family. I want to live to watch my nieces and nephews grow up. I was in a bad place for a long time, and food was my outlet, my comforter. My shattered world is still wounded (and always will be) but not broken! The pics are on top, the left, me a…

Hello, Not sure if this is the right place I should be posting this ( if it is, I apologize and feel free to delete this. I'm very new to forums) . I'm having my surgery in a few days and I'm feeling as anxious as ever. Anxious for the surgery itself but more anxious for the life after. I know this is a voluntary thing and I should deal with the consequences of my choices but I can't help but feel scared and alone. I only told my family as I'm not sure how my friends would take the news but I do plan to tell them after. I know not a lot of people will understand but I do know that those who have gone through the same journey will. Just putting this o…

So, I’m scheduled for a sleeve with hernia repair at the end of the month. I play the French horn and am starting to get nervous about surgery messing with my diaphragm and ability to take in air/deal with the back pressure of playing horn. Any fellow brass players have any insight to give me on how it went for you after surgery? My doc said he didn’t have any patients that played, but he thought I’d be ok after “awhile”. Thanks!

Hey guys, my one year was September 19. I went to my surgeon for a check in yesterday, I have gained 11 pounds. I am so disgusted I don't know what to do. He was so ugly to me and non caring. He told me I failed and there was nothing he would do for me. Then he told me maybe I should try Medifast...REALLY!!! I should have followed my first mind and not use him. I told him from the beginning my sleeve wasn't stopping me from eating and if it weren't for the scars I have, I wouldn't think I had weight loss surgery. I asked him did he remove 75% of my stomach, he didn't give a yes or no answer, instead he said the lady I just saw have the same size sleeve you have and she's …

Hi everyone. I have never had depression in my entire life not even as a big girl. Now 6 wks put of surgery and down from 200 to 168 lbs I am being faced with all sorts of unstable emotions. My relationship with my partner is struggling. He isn't really the affectionate type to begin with but lately he has been distancing even more or so I feel. I feel rejected at times, feel like he comes up with vague excuses for his behavior. All he keeps saying is "your going through major image changes, I dont think I fit in anymore" he claims that I am always needing massive attention from him. But when one is feeling lonely, and rejected how could one not feel needy. This whole thi…

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/902112 MUNICH — In an observational study that used a one-time snapshot of carbohydrate intake, middle-aged Americans who consumed the least amount of carbohydrates were more likely to die from any cause, heart disease, or cancer during the subsequent decade than their peers who had the highest carbohydrate intake. In a second part of the study, these findings were replicated in a meta-analysis of seven studies with cohorts from Greece, Japan, Sweden, and the United States that included people followed for almost 2 decades. "Given the fact that low-carbohydrate diets may be unsafe, it would be preferable not to currently…
