Hi all - I’ve lost 10 pounds on my pre-op diet & gained 14 in the hospital with all of the IV fluids. it took me a few days, but I lost the fluid weight plus an additional 5 pounds. I am only on protein shakes and water and I’m not even having that required 3/4 protein shakes a day (averaging 2.5/3). I will be 3 weeks out on Wednesday and have started gaining weight! Grrrrr..... How is this even possible? Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Hi I’m about 5 weeks post gastric sleeve surgery and have been moving my way through the food phases. I’m currently on soft food. Sometimes on, swallowing I get pain in my clavicle. I eat less than 1/2 a cup at a time and eat slowly and make sure my food is cooked well. I’ve eaten mainly minced chicken with veggies like cauliflower, leak carrots. Is what I’m experiencing normal?

Hey, A week ago I got a gastric sleeve like the first 4 days I was in a lot of pain. I have a low tolerance for pain, the gas pain was sharp and made me miserable and the surgical incision spots were sore. When I look at my stomach I think it looks more ugly then it looked before. I feel hideous and feel like I’m not gonna get results because all I’m doing is drinking water and sip on a protein shake and take my vitamins. I’ve already been tempted to eat unhealthy foods. The other day I chewed some chicken but I spit it out because I’m not trying to cause myself complications. I guess I’m just venting I also feel weird in the sense that I’m waiting to see myself skinny…

I was sleeved 12/14/2016. I am almost 2 years post opp. Still till this day I throw up on a consistent basis. I can not drink 60oz of water. I can eat but only certain meats and certain carbs. My body feels weak. The past 3 weeks have been the worst in quite some time. I have nearly fainted multiple times. During a gym session, after a yoga class and twice while mid-shower (I am pretty sure this was due to steam). I am literally crying as I type this. I never regretted getting my stomach cut until now. I am going to ER in the morning to get IV drip, hopefully I am just very dehydrated and I will feel better and get back to normal but I am so concerned. I want to call my…

Hey everyone! To those of you who had Diabetes prior to Gastric Sleeve, did you feel that it made you lose less weight than you expected? I have been hearing some things that patients with prior Diabetes end up loosing less weight after they get the procedure. But sometimes I feel like physicians will differ in what they say, but it's better to hear from actual patients. I currently have diabetes right now, my HbA1c is horrible, near 12. Hoping this gastric sleeve, with diet/exercise and using it as a tool can help reverse it. any advice please. Thanks

Today marks two weeks since my surgery. Since August 21 till probably the 28th lost 14 pounds. More like water weight. After that I have just been at the same weight and it has not even been two weeks. I know it has only been a short time but I feel like this is telling me, I should not have done it. I guess I need some encouraging words now. Thank you everyone

This is my third day after surgery, today I was able to consume 82 ounces of liquids with little to no discomfort. The 82 ounces of liquid consisted of, 2 1/2 premier protein drinks, 1 cup of cream of mushroom soup strained, 2 sugar-free popsicles and 42 ounces of water. My question is, is this too much for a person who is only three days out from surgery? My calorie intake was around 620 cal.

I can’t take it. I can’t consume one more chemical food-like substance! Protein shakes... blah! The thought of them make me nauseous. Creamed soup? Gross, SF pudding? Why? There is no nutritional value. I’m 11 days post op. Feel fantastic! I’m getting in my water, and I can drink normally. I’m on full liquids but all I really want is plain water. I have had some Greek yogurt, but two bites and I’m full. I’m lucky to finish the single serving container in a day. Just frustrated I guess... I just want some cheese, chicken salad, and green beans, lol

I will be 1 year out on October 6th. I've reach and went below what doctor has given as a goal. I went from 298 to current weight of 132. I am very pleased with the progress I have made throughout this past year. It is a mind set you have to live with forever. I have been given a highly helpful tool with my sleeve and thank God daily for it. Hope all you other sleevers are having as good of progress as I have had!

Hi everyone- So, I'm 8 weeks post op today and am doing pretty well except for protein shakes. I seem to be intolerant of either whey protein or dairy. I point more toward the whey because in all ways prepared- water, almond milk, and even fairlife (filter lactose free milk). They have resulted in frequent bathroom trips I may try veggie protein or soy but was wondering if anyone else has had issues? Thank you!

Hi All, Thanks for taking time from your busy day to read this and maybe help a fellow sleever out! Quick facts I am FEMALE, almost 4 years out from Surgery Sept 2014 Highest weight 347 - lowest thus far 234 currently 297 (fully clothed heavy clothes on phone/key ect.. in pocket at work tonight) Here I stand at work saying to myself - your almost at 4 years post op - never made goal and have had a 63lb regain whilst saying WTF is wrong with you in my head! Can I blame 1 other soul NO, it is my fault and solely my fault alone. No one has forced me to graze, or eat items off plan. I allowed the stresses of life to effect me that I somehow YO-YO'd my…

I was sleeved 8/6. Highest weight 262, surgery weight 257 and my current weight is 230. I’ve gone from soft foods to solid foods ( meats, eggs, cheese and beans). I went from struggling to get a protein shake down in 24 hours to drinking 60-100 fluids a day. I had to learn that my mind and stomach are not on the same page but that my stomach is in control. I’m 6 weeks out ( tomorrow) , I can gulp about 5-6 times before I feel pain or satisfaction. I can eat about 2-4 oz depending on what it is and how moist the meat is. I struggle with my vitamins, protein and weighing myself everyday. I am now trying to weigh in only at appointments giving myself weigh ins at home 1-2 ti…

My surgery is tomorrow at 0600 hours. My sister asked me if I’m nervous, and I can honestly say I’m only excited and happy. I feel such relief! I went on my first diet at 10, so it’s been 30 years of one diet after another. I finally get to be done with that. I know surgery is not a magic bullet, that I have to make good choices, but now I’m hopeful that when I do the right things, I’ll get results. I can’t wait!

Hi everyone, I had my sleeve surgery on Tuesday the 18th, I stayed overnight and went home the next day, everything went terrific. The doctor said that my surgery went very very well, he said the pre-op diet had shrunken my liver to normal size, which made things go very well. I also had a hernia repair along with the sleeve, when I went to my room after recovery I set in a chair for about two hours, then I got up and walked two loops around the nurses station which is quite a distance. The only pain I had was in recovery from the gas, they put some pain medicine in the IV and within no time the pain stopped. To be honest, I have had no nausea or vomiting …

November 8 is the big day. I am nervous and excited, sometimes seemingly paralyzed by fears and other times bursting with hope for my future. I don't drink soda, but I drink a lot of bubbly water. I am giving that up as of today. I am also trying to get used to not eating and drinking at the same time. If you have any other tips for me to incorporate over these next 50 days before surgery, I appreciate your insights and encouragement. Thank you!

I'm wondering what people are doing for exercise? What are your favorite classes, work outs, videos? Do you hike, walk, swim, dance? I have been taking my self for walks and swimming a little. The idea of bouncing a lot (running, aerobics... so forth) does not sound pleasant for my tummy, and I'm nervous to try sit ups or crunches and things. Looking for more idea's, especially as the weather gets cool. Thanks!

Hey, so, I'm down to the last two weeks. I met with my surgeon, and he asked me to sign a form saying he could fix a hernia if he found one or do a liver biopsy if my liver looked funky. I did sign it, but now I find myself wondering: how likely is he to find a hernia, if I've already had the upper endoscopy? How much time does a hernia take to fix? (That is the major determinant of cost, and I am self-pay, in the US, so ... it's already a lot.) And if he does find and fix a hernia, how will that impact my recovery time? (I'm having the sleeve, so, it's theoretically a bit shorter recovery than RNY.) I know nobody can answer how likely he is to want a liver biopsy, b…

Hello all...I am scheduled for sleeve surgery in early October, liquid diet starts soon I was wondering what is a typical amount of monthly weight loss? I had the band put in back in 2011 and frankly I forget how long it took for me to lose the 70 pounds I lost. If memory serves me most of it came off in the first few months. Btw...I’m a male, 49, 6’3.

My surgery was 8/20/18 and I know that there was some discomfort and pain in my stomach, but i'm on week 4 and into fish, seafood, and ground meats. My question is when i'm eating or not even eating i feel a weird pain and i'm wondering if it's normal. I measure all my food to 2 ounces, and the moment i take a bite or two it feels like i have some gas followed by like a bloated pain, almost like hunger pains but it's not. It makes me not want to eat because i hate when it feels like this. I was also diagnosed as Diabetic, and my sugar has been as high as 138 and as low as 74, but i hardly feel hungry and I know i'm not getting enough of my protein in because I just …

Hey everyone! So I’m a little over 3 months out from my sleeve - so far, aside from some reflux issues, it’s been incredible. I’m feeling better, not using my CPAP anymore, able to keep up with my kid and nieces and nephews, and I’m shopping in the regular section of stores! ????. So this might come across kind of like a silly worry but I know we have to worry a lot more about our nutrition and doing things a lot more healthful than someone with a regular size stomach. So I was hoping to just get some reassurance. So my starting weight was 222.8. I started the pre-op diet and lost 15 lbs on that, surgery on 6/12/18, and I’m just under 50 lbs lost post surgery - as of …

I'm 5 months post op and feel like I am failing in this journey. At least twice a week I am giving in to temptation and having a snack. I'm worried that this will cause me to revert back to my old eating habits. Although I haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks, my doc says I'm right on track where I need to be. How do you fight the temptation?

Thank you all for reading and helping. I have researched these topics but looking for some specific advice. Hi. I’m new here. I just started the process to get sleeved, and I have 6 months of protocol I have to follow (per my insurance) before I can get it done. My question at the moment is, have any of you experienced frequent premature ventricular contractions at the time of surgery? I’ve been suffering thousands a day for the last 4 months, and scared about whether it will affect my safety during surgery. So far my doctors are calling my condition begning, but I haven’t asked my cardiologist for their all clear for WLS yet, which I have to have per my bariatric surgeon.

I've been reading the boards today as it's the second anniversary of my surgery; I was sleeved 2 years ago today! I'm down 104 pounds, my surgical team is pleased, and I am so happy with myself now! Yes, I am still learning, every day, but it's a good learning. I've stayed on track, I've fallen off the cart and made my mistakes, but I feel like I am always moving forward. PLEASE... if you are anxious, scared, nervous about having the surgery, don't talk yourself out of it. Is my life perfect since surgery? No, but I am SO MUCH HAPPIER with myself and with who I am. Please have the confidence to know you can do this, know you can stick to your program even through the hard…

So this is kind of a non-scale victory for me. Nobody knows about my surgery except my SO. I've also been on self-imposed lock-down ever since I started my pre-op liquid diet and the only person who knows me who'd seen me after surgery before today was my landlady, who sweetly but carefully asked if I'd lost some weight because according to her, my clothes had been getting looser and that she could 'see' my face now. Today I went back to work after being gone for 1.5 months. I've lost approx. 22 pounds since my colleagues last saw me. I know I've definitely lost weight but I did not anticipate how my colleagues just FREAKED when they saw me. They echoed my landl…

Hey, I’m Joey I’m from New Jersey. I’m probably one of the youngest people to be on this forums as I just turned 17 at the start of this month. I was 390 pounds at my highest, 375 pounds in the day of surgery (08/28/18) and am currently 345 lbs. at the moment I’m super worried because this morning I gained a pound for the first time. I do pretty heavy exercise 2 or 3 times a day and pretty much eat the way I’m supposed to with a very few modifications. If anything I’m eating less then I’m supposed to. Why did I gain a pound? Also how much 16.9 oz water bottles should I have a day and how long should it take me to finish one? Thank you!

So, surgery date is 10/23 and the anxiety is already overwhelming me..... I'm 59 and worried that I'm too old to have the surgery. I have autoimmune arthritis and my doctor tells me that losing weight will help with the joint pain (already sort of knew that) but also will help with the inflammation..... Anyone else feel like they were making a mistake to have the surgery. Thought that this one last time a diet would work? I feel like my brain is doing cartwheels......Maybe I should be in a medically induced coma until the surgery so I stop fretting about every little thing (that was a joke) Feed back needed and appreciated.... Thanks
