  3. I am almost 5 months out and I just began this week eating sunflower seeds that are still in the shell. I have been trying to only eat the seed, but am worried that some of the shell may have been ingested. I am now feeling anxious that I may have somehow done damage to my pouch. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a way to know if you have damaged your sleeve in any way? I am just concerned how easy is it to damage the sleeve with what you eat. Trying very hard to eat right, but I do sometimes fall backward and eat things I feel are not the best for my new diet. Thank you in advance for all feedback.

  5. I am almost 6 weeks out and I feel hungry a great deal of the time. I am having the same issues. I am very disappointed that I am not feeling the restriction as I thought I would. I can eat more than I am supposed to be eating at any meal. I stop myself because I know I shouldn't be eating that much. I was told to add vegetables also with my meal to help me feel fuller. I really wanted to feel restricted or nauseous, something that tells my brain to stop besides my own judgement and common sense, which if I had good judgement and common sense I would not have needed the surgery in the first place. My primary care doctor who specializes in weight loss told me he didn't care if I was eating a little bit more as long as I am showing that I am losing weight. My surgeon at my second follow up was surprised that I could eat more than 4 ounces and said that should be impossible that I should be eating less than 2 ounces. It is very difficult and can be a slippery slope. I continue to surprise myself however with mostly good decision making and control. I am also getting bored with the foods I am eating and having trouble finding variety. Good luck.

  16. I am only 2 weeks out and my doctor told me I was not allowed to fast. I was a bit upset but not really surprised. I am not sure how this will be next year. Please let us know what you did and how it worked for you.

  19. thank you for sharing and good luck on your journey. May it be easy for you to get through.
  20. This helps tremendously. I was feeling all alone in this process. For liquids I was told to be on 300-400calories, but not sure how that changed once in purees. I will try to relax a bit more regarding the process, I just don’t want to do anything wrong or to hurt my new stomach. Thank you again.

  22. I am getting extremely frustrated. Please let me know if this experience is unique to me. I am 2 weeks post op, and I have not lost any weight in the second week. I know there is a 3 week stall is it possible to have a stall in the second week. I am not getting consistent information from the surgeon about my nutritional requirements and I am concerned because I am not feeling restricted on liquids and maybe I am over doing it. I was not having regrets, but I am starting to now. Also, I am able to start purees tomorrow and not sure what I can and cant have. I have another weird situation. My primary care doctor is the director of a nutritional and weight loss program. I got cleared for surgery by his nutritionist, however she does not specialize in bariatrics. Now I need a nutritionist that does specialize in bariatrics, and the one recommended by the surgeons office says she cant treat me because I did not do the initial evaluation with her. I am at a loss because I don't know what I should and should not be doing. My surgery was uncomplicated, however getting information I need to be a success has been very complicated. My doctor's office has given me contradicting information both pre and post op, and I am beyond frustrated and in tears. I want to be a success but all I see is failure in my future. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  25. I had gerd but it was due to a hiatal hernia which got repaired along with the sleeve. I am only a week out but so far so good. I hope it remains that way. Gerd was a big factor for me and I was afraid to do the sleeve because of it. I hope it continues to go well for me.
  26. Sleeved on August 27th one week post op, and I am not sure I am regretting it, but questioning whether it is working.
  27. Thank you Frustr8 so much for continuing to check in. Hope you had a great weekend also. Needed help with another problem or question. I am able to drink lots of liquid while sipping of course. I don't get a sense of feeling full. I am concerned the surgery is not going to work because I don't feel restricted. I here people cannot get their liquids in post op, however that does not seem to be an issue. I can drink all day wrong. Is something wrong with the procedure or sleeve. I am so scared I did this and it wont work now.
  28. I had similar Experience but not that extreme. I was first told to be at hospital at 9:30am. Then 11:30am for a 1:30 surgical time. Surgery didn’t start until after 3pm. Very frustrating. I also just began my cycle the day before surgery making it that much more uncomfortable. Good news is you are doing it. Best of luck.
