    Anxious

I am almost 5 months out and I just began this week eating sunflower seeds that are still in the shell. I have been trying to only eat the seed, but am worried that some of the shell may have been ingested. I am now feeling anxious that I may have somehow done damage to my pouch. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a way to know if you have damaged your sleeve in any way? I am just concerned how easy is it to damage the sleeve with what you eat. Trying very hard to eat right, but I do sometimes fall backward and eat things I feel are not the best for my new diet. Thank you in advance for all feedback.

    Hungry

I am almost 6 weeks out and I feel hungry a great deal of the time. I am having the same issues. I am very disappointed that I am not feeling the restriction as I thought I would. I can eat more than I am supposed to be eating at any meal. I stop myself because I know I shouldn't be eating that much. I was told to add vegetables also with my meal to help me feel fuller. I really wanted to feel restricted or nauseous, something that tells my brain to stop besides my own judgement and common sense, which if I had good judgement and common sense I would not have needed the surgery in the first place. My primary care doctor who specializes in weight loss told me he didn't care if I was eating a little bit more as long as I am showing that I am losing weight. My surgeon at my second follow up was surprised that I could eat more than 4 ounces and said that should be impossible that I should be eating less than 2 ounces. It is very difficult and can be a slippery slope. I continue to surprise myself however with mostly good decision making and control. I am also getting bored with the foods I am eating and having trouble finding variety. Good luck.
  3. How long does it take to start feeling better after sleeve surgery. I am 2 days post op and pain is excruciating. I can hardly handle it. Also tips for taking crushed pills. That too is making me gag and be sick. What pain meds were people sent home with. I am given 1 Percocet every 6 hours and my first dose home it made me sleep, but when I woke up an hour and a half later pain was so bad.

    40 something sleevers?

I am 46 and got sleeved on August 27th. Doing well for the most part. Still trying to figure things out.
  6. Hi, I have never written in any type of forum before, and I feel like I am a bit late to the game. I am already one week into my two week preop diet and feeling very anxious. My surgery is Monday August 27th. I am doing ok during the day with diet, however it is at night (as always), that I struggle. I am doing my best, but cannot find a low sodium broth that makes me happy. I love soup but I cannot find one that satisfies me with low sodium. I am doing well with the shakes, but I still feel hungry. I am so very limited in what I can have. I don't know how everyone else does it. I am here because I am addicted to food and it has been difficult at night. I could use some other people who have gone through the process who can help me through. Thank you.

    Yom Kippur and WLS?

I am only 2 weeks out and my doctor told me I was not allowed to fast. I was a bit upset but not really surprised. I am not sure how this will be next year. Please let us know what you did and how it worked for you.
  8. I am getting extremely frustrated. Please let me know if this experience is unique to me. I am 2 weeks post op, and I have not lost any weight in the second week. I know there is a 3 week stall is it possible to have a stall in the second week. I am not getting consistent information from the surgeon about my nutritional requirements and I am concerned because I am not feeling restricted on liquids and maybe I am over doing it. I was not having regrets, but I am starting to now. Also, I am able to start purees tomorrow and not sure what I can and cant have. I have another weird situation. My primary care doctor is the director of a nutritional and weight loss program. I got cleared for surgery by his nutritionist, however she does not specialize in bariatrics. Now I need a nutritionist that does specialize in bariatrics, and the one recommended by the surgeons office says she cant treat me because I did not do the initial evaluation with her. I am at a loss because I don't know what I should and should not be doing. My surgery was uncomplicated, however getting information I need to be a success has been very complicated. My doctor's office has given me contradicting information both pre and post op, and I am beyond frustrated and in tears. I want to be a success but all I see is failure in my future. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Is it possible

This helps tremendously. I was feeling all alone in this process. For liquids I was told to be on 300-400calories, but not sure how that changed once in purees. I will try to relax a bit more regarding the process, I just don’t want to do anything wrong or to hurt my new stomach. Thank you again.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Oh my gosh, I was sleeved on August 27th. I was in a lot of pain and one week later it is finally feeling better. However the situation you are having with the water is the same as me. I have been asking all along this message board if my surgery failed because I feel no restriction in taking in liquid.

GERD but want to have sleeve

I had gerd but it was due to a hiatal hernia which got repaired along with the sleeve. I am only a week out but so far so good. I hope it remains that way. Gerd was a big factor for me and I was afraid to do the sleeve because of it. I hope it continues to go well for me.

    I guess I’m regretting a little...

Sleeved on August 27th one week post op, and I am not sure I am regretting it, but questioning whether it is working.

Thank you Frustr8 so much for continuing to check in. Hope you had a great weekend also. Needed help with another problem or question. I am able to drink lots of liquid while sipping of course. I don't get a sense of feeling full. I am concerned the surgery is not going to work because I don't feel restricted. I here people cannot get their liquids in post op, however that does not seem to be an issue. I can drink all day wrong. Is something wrong with the procedure or sleeve. I am so scared I did this and it wont work now.

    SO ANNOYED!

I had similar Experience but not that extreme. I was first told to be at hospital at 9:30am. Then 11:30am for a 1:30 surgical time. Surgery didn’t start until after 3pm. Very frustrating. I also just began my cycle the day before surgery making it that much more uncomfortable. Good news is you are doing it. Best of luck.
  19. I am one week post op today and doing a full liquid diet. I never seem to have the sense of being full and feel I can drink as much liquids in small sips as I want. I stop myself because I want to be in control. I have only felt hunger about 4 times since surgery. The rest of the time I feel comfortable. I am afraid it is not working and I am not being restricted. No nausea or vomiting either. Is this sleeve going to work? Feeling really anxious. List about 17 pounds Pre op but one week post op maybe only 4 or 5. Is this normal?

Hi All, I am 4 days post op and I am finally feeling like I am not going to die. I have turned a corner and the pain is finally a bit more bearable. It was a hard road but I am doing it. I am about 18-20 pounds down from the beginning of preop. this is about 2 1/2 weeks. Thank you for getting me through. Not easy but glad it is done.

2 days post op extreme pain

Oh my gosh, you know you are not supposed to make a pre op gal laugh. thank you for sharing, I have a call into my doctor for some other questions, so I will mention this as well. I had similar problems pre op with the steal turd reference. I so get it. afraid that will be the case now as well. I was also looking for some sleevers who's weight was not super high. I am in that league also and felt guilty posting my starting weight so I didn't. I have a lot of medical problems that are due to my uncontrollable eating. I started at about the same weight as you. It makes me feel better to find others who start out a little lower.

2 days post op extreme pain

Also, a TMI question. How long did it take you to have your first bowel movement after surgery. I still have not had one. Is this normal. I am 3 1/2 days post op. My last one was Sunday night the night before surgery.

2 days post op extreme pain

I probably am not walking as much as I should, but I am trying. I do have bad gas pain and it gets relieved and then it comes right back. I cannot imagine how much gas can be in one body. I am also having bad incisional pain on trying to get up. thank you for support. I am hoping that each day will get better. Hearing others experiences helps. my doctor is making me crush all meds and I am on so many. I have been able to swallow small pills, however I am afraid to do it even if I am can because of what it could do to new stomach.
